Hi Casunflower, I spent 29 years in Wichita before moving to Indiana 3 years ago. I went to Wichita State for my 2nd bachelors degree and my masters. Wichita is a nice town. Too bad it is so far from everything. Helen I couldn't agree more...I grew up in El Dorado, and its only claim to fame was that it was close to Wichita! That kind of says it all! What was your major at WSU?

Just my two cents. How about sales tax? On the web a lot of stores don't charge tax but if the sale originates in the store (via phone) they charge. Archivers in MI comes to mind. If I order from Boise I don't get charged sales tax.

For some stores, isn't sales tax charged ONLY if they have a store in your state? Then you get charged your state's sales tax. Otherwise, no tax! I've only been charged sales tax once at Archivers, and that was because Bernadette was picking up for me (still cheaper than postage from A's), and because they don't have a store in CA yet.

This is what I believe the law to be -
If you are ordering online or over the phone, doesn't matter either way. What matters is the deliver to state. So if you order from a online site & have it delivered to your home, if there is an actual brick & mortar store in your state, you will be charged sales tax. I shop a lot online with Barnes & Noble & Dicks sporting goods. Always charged sales tax because they have actual stores in Massachusetts.
If you are shopping at an online store or over the phone & there is no actual store in your state, they do not collect your sales tax. Granted the government is definitely trying to change all this. Not sure if and when it will happen though.
Now for the scarecrow store. She did charge me sales tax. And after when I realized, I just couldn't be bothered to collect a few dollars back. So, I figured it was my gift to her for an awesome die! And didn't contact her. Well, I received an envelope from her Saturday with cash in it with a small note, apologizing for charging me sales tax. I believe I was one of the very first to call & I don't think she has ever had to deal with that kind of craziness with an exclusive & the sales tax issue.
Hope this may help a few of you.

Isn't it nice to be reminded that there ARE retailers out there with integrity?
