What a horrible experience! I usually just call up and have the dies I want shipped to my house and they are always very friendly and helpful over the phone. I must say that if they were that rude, I would just never come back and would just pay more somewhere else... I hate bad customer service. I've learned it's just hit and miss with big companies..... when I get a clueless rep calling my cable / cell phone company - I hang up and call back.

I just looked at the Exclusive Quicktz (spelling is correct) Dies site, and lo and behold, she says that A's will be coming out with more exclusives in August and October! Somebody...please make them STOP!!!
She also mentions that Scrapy Land has 25 (!) new exclusives on the horizon!

Angelique, I will join you! Which one is good for you? The further south we go the hotter it gets - remember that when deciding? Just let me know what is good for you. Laura. <>< P.S. I may have to bring my children - Chris will have to stay and work to pay for my purchases!!

Ladies, I'll join you too ;D I'm sure you'll need somebody, who cooks "exotic" Bavarian meals for you I'm going to bring both DSs too. They need to practice English for school (DS#1 English is terrible, he understands a lot but if he says something it's ) and there's nothing better than to practice with native speakers ;D

I am the sour note on the board about Archiver's, I think. I am just so fed up with the way they conduct their business! YET, I still buy their darn dies because they have one great designer. I stopped in today to see if my Archiver's does indeed have the new dies out. Yep, they do. The store doesn't make any big deal the dies being new releases but, of course, you can look at them and buy them. Considering I need the staff at that store to like me because of all the dies that I buy for my international friends, I didn't make a stink. Also, my boys are so active anyway whenever we go in, I feel like I am herding cats. I am so worried that the store ladies might put me on their blacklist! The two older boys are getting better when we are in the store but the little one in the picture with me below was a pistol this morn. He kept laughing naughtily and running away from me. One time, he went clear across the store before I could catch the little bugger! So, I am not the one to go up to the counter and give the manager a piece of my mind but I am SO glad that Dani has snitched on them.

We have to find a good one in nice surroundings.. ;D
Maybe the other board members can give us some directions to a nice place with an archivers nearby
Barbara, I speak english, so no need to go so far. They can learn from me too.. Ask Laura.. She understands what I say.. lol And maybe I can practice my german.. it has become a little rusty the last couple of years

We could even put you up for lodging! The only catch: you make some of that awesome Bavarian food, OK? ;D My hubby and I lived in Stuttgart in 1998 for almost a year and it was awesome! We were sad to leave. My husband totally fell in love with the food. It would be easy for me to convince him to let you visit us because of that. Also, we could practice our limited German on you and your boys can play with my boys and practice their English. Sounds like a good time all around!

LOL, what a small world, Elly! DH just started a new job near Stuttgart. We're still debating if we move there as it may be for not too long. I hope we will be able to take a longer vaccation next summer and I'm already trying to persuade him to go to the US but he hates planes, so we'll see. But whenever I come near you, I promise to visit and make "Kaesspaetzle" and "Schweinsbraten" like my grandma used to make them for you ;D

Yummm! When the boys get a bit older, we most likely will take them to Europe. It would be great to expose them to the German language. My husband and I would be most happy if they learned German first before anything else. It's such a tough, intellectual language, in my opinion. I speak some Italian too and it is a breeze to me next to German. Sorry to digress this conversation here! I promise to stop talking about languages now.

PS. I should mention that I was a Russian language major and an Eastern European History major in college so I'm really into languages and history. I couldn't resist taking a little detour in our dialog about Archiver's. Now back to being mad at Archiver's...

I have to admit that he is the charmer in the family. Too funny to watch too! He is also the "terror" in the family. He is very adamant about getting his way. It's tough to stand up to him but I must do it because it's not fair the way he bullies his older brothers about! He really wants to be much bigger than he is and it is so frustrating to him, poor little guy.

Oh no, I did it again! I promise to stay on topic...
I just noticed on ebay that the new dies are for sale there. Bet someone just bought them at Archiver's and decided to put them up. Grrr.

I have never been to "Archivers" but I guess I really do not need to either from what everyone is saying. No great loss I am sure.

I have never been to "Archivers" but I guess I really do not need to either from what everyone is saying. No great loss I am sure. To be honest, it's not for nothing that they are a growing scrapbook chain that is hurting the little guys. Archiver's works really hard at keeping up to the minute trends in their stores. They rotate their stock a lot. Their store is very large too. It's quite the candy store. Also, they make it so that you find something new everytime you walk in because they always have the latest stuff. I think the corporate thing with them, though, makes them loose their charm. I have heard a few disgruntled employees complaining too about their company policies. They do give a generous employee discount, though, so that must help soften their policies somewhat -- 40% off of everything.

In my opinion, A's shouldn't even be allowed to release exclusives unless they can provide them to "online" customers. I don't live anywhere near an A's and I always have to get on the phone and make a million phone calls to find a store that has all the dies that I am looking for and then on this last release, they really ripped us off on shipping costs! It doesn't cost THAT MUCH to ship those dies!

I hate that people can't buy them online and if you call them and say hold them for me I am on my way, they want your CC #. Crazy stuff. -Bernadette

Hey, let me say for the record that I have NEVER felt that way about Dani! If you would just get the Archiver's dies for your store, I would much rather give you my money for those too.

My closest Archivers is in Georgia. I work horrible hours at work and can never find the chance to call. I want a couple of the new ones but have not had time to get them. I mostly remember when it is closing time -- Like now. I am looking for the Brackets, Arrows, Birthday peguin & Globe.

Krissynae, I can help you with all of those (I think anyway. Not sure if I saw the arrows today or not). My Archiver's still has them. Let me know if you want them and I can give them a call and put them on hold for you and ship them to you. My shipping is actual not that crazy figure they are making everyone pay!
I would be more than happy to do this for you. You are so awesome to write and keep everyone updated with your blog!! I love how you started it. SO needed!
Just PM me here with your email and I will get back to you.

I read on a post on 2peas that they tried to charge some one $5 per die she was purchasing. She said it was like $30 for shipping. She threw a fit and they changed it to actual shipping.
I would love that about the Dies. I have a birthday coming up and was hoping to get some of them. My father live in North Carolina but he never gets to Raleigh to get them.

I'm so glad that others share my feelings. In my opinion, Archivers doesn't pay any attention to the rules and LSSs lose in the long run.
I didn't buy any of the latest round of exclusives from A's b/c 1. I think it's annoying that they came out with so many and 2. their shipping prices are ridiculous. Plus, I don't think they were the greatest dies.
Can't wait to see more exclusives from LSSs though!!

I love Archiver's. The one I purchase from is always very nice to me and super helpful. The staff is kind, shows me how to use things, etc.
A store like Archiver's is big enough that it probably has their own special arrangement QK. I wouldn't jump to conclusions about them breaking rules without knowing all the details. They have publishing schedules for newsletters, and probably varying shipment schedules. With an account as big as Archiver's must be for QK, I am sure they have a unique contract that address the concerns that a major corporate retailer with multiple locations in different states will have. If you want to have loyalty to Scrapyland, I say go for it, buy your QK from Dani. But honestly, I don't think it reflects well on Dani for all of us to be bashing another retailer over and over on his board. I am not saying don't tell people what you think, but to assume they are breaking QK rules when we don't know what arrangement they have with QK is a little bit over the top to me.
I know they are getting new exclusives because last time I was there, the manager asked me if I wanted to be on a list of people they will call about the new exclusive release in August. She knows I love QK and would not want to miss out. I have a friend that lives in a state w/o an Archiver's who also loves QK and the manager of this store calls her when they get a new exclusive QK release so that she won't miss out, either. Good thing, too, because she always buys every single one, even this last release that was huge. Too bad I can't play with her every weekend.
I am sorry that some of you are having bad experiences at Archiver's. That has not be the case with me. I am sure that the stores vary in quality and good staff. One thing about Scrapyland, you know you will always get good service here, so it's a good place to shop if your Archiver's is staffed with unfriendly persons.

While I love all things Quickutz, and I don't enjoy criticizing another store, here is my observation about A's, which I've been watching since their first round of exclusives. There is absolutely NO CONSISTENCY between the stores in how they will market the dies...one store might sell you every last one you'd ever want, the next will only sell one, some will only sell to walk-in customers, some will only display/sell a few designs at a time. And I agree, their shipping for the last round was mind-boggling to say the least. This is not to say that I don't buy their dies, because I do. However, I had to order from four different stores (on the first day of the release, so they all had them) to get the ones that I thought I couldn't live without! I guess one just has to know up front how to play the "A's game" and get on with it (advice to self here)!

Archiver's is a large store and I think they were not ready for all the phone orders for their QK exclusives. Sometimes it takes awhile to "turn the large ship" around. There were at least two big MB's that discussed the A's release and they were most likely suprised how many phone calls they got on the first release and really needed to prepare themselves for the next release.
I like most of their exclusives and this last one had something for everyone. I am looking forward to their next release. Yes, this third round had a surprise "shipping increase" but since I can't drive to my nearest A's, a few states away; I will place my phone order. I wish I could get on a "manager's list", however; I'll wait patiently and not give up!
The's A's designers have come up with some really cute shapes for the animals, which I've provided feedback to QK when I receive their surveys! Too bad QK didn't listen!
