hey Divas - all I can say is OH MY, HOLY SCRAP! I'm willing to totally bypass August in order to get to September!!!! Dani can't get this machine in fast enough! I had a little "chat" with someone this morning - and here are some more of the specifics... - the cute purple machine weighs approximately the same as the Epic Six - about 7 pounds - all of the gears turning the machine are metal! - the cutting pads are included - the size of the platform is 8.5" x 11.5" - the included embossing mat is the same size! - the base of the machine suctions to your work surface! - the NEW Grand Nesties - they pick up where the other shapes left off...meaning if you have a set of scalloped circles, the Grand scalloped circles just continue the nesting pattern. So if we keep organizing them on magnetic vent covers {LOL!} We can put the Grands up on the wall, and then set our Nesties right inside of them. - compatibility will be just like it is now - a thin chemically etched die will work just the same, like it does now! - did you see the price? Under $100.00 Dani has the video camera with him today - video is coming SOON! Stay tuned to Scrapy Land - we'll update info and goodies and pictures as possible!!!

Susan, I'm intrigued... Went to the Spellbinders web site to look at specs. Saw it would cut Sizzlets, QK, and Cuttlebug. Can it cut the steel rule dies like the original Sizzix dies?? (If so, I'm ordering!) Thanks for being our trusty girl reporter at CHA!! Gail

(If so, I'm ordering!) Thanks for being our trusty girl reporter at CHA!! Gail Dani just texted me and said "NO" it won't cut steel rule dies. Now me, being the skeptical crafter that I am, wants to know why. Is it because the opening in the machine is not thick enough? Because if it's not then that answer is solid. Or is it because Spellbinders didn't manufacturer a shim/platform that makes it possible? Because if THAT is the reason, I'm sure we can all figure out a sandwich that will work. Lord knows we have 2.3 million Epic cutting plates! LOL Anyway - the hunt for the answer continues. But as of today - the word from Spellbinders is "does not cut steel ruled dies".

I try to be good about not buying new machines but I want this one badly, lol. Trying to talk hubby into getting it for me for my birthday, the set I mean. Fingers crossed!!! It looks amazing. Vicki

Thanks for the answer, Susan. I, too, am suspicious that something could be worked out with my stash of Epic cutting plates! Don't suppose you could stop by the Spellbinders booth with a ruler and measure the height of the opening??? Gail

Just realized that you mentioned the cutting plates are 11.5" long...is that long enough for the QK or Sizzix border dies? Was hoping to justify getting this by using it to phase out my Rev......

I wonder if it would work if you put the border dies on the cutting platform diagonally? In the video, the opening doesn't look wide enough for a steel cut/Sizzix die. I suspect that would have upped the cost, because they would need to make the machine sturdier to cut chipboard/thicker materials like the steel cut dies are capable of cutting. It looks like the Sizzix pro is still the only one that can do it all. But I'm tempted by those larger nesties sizes. I just about drooled watching that video! Michelle

I also promised myself (well... rather my DH and CC....) not to buy another machine, especially not after the Epic story but I can't help it - I REALLY WANT THIS MACHINE!!!!!! I loved that they just "continued" with bigger sizes with their existing shapes - SO great!!!! So if you hear about a huge bank robbery in Sweden the next weeks - it might be me

I'm with you, Veronica! Hard to justify another machine (I already have 2 Revs, an Epic, a Wizard, a Cuttlebug, a Bigshot Express and several Squeezes - I'm embarrassed just to type that ), but it is sooo cool. The idea of being able to cut dies that size, and that they'll work with dies I already own is very appealing. I'm going to try to hold out for awhile, but I'm pretty sure I'll cave eventually... After all my birthday is in August!! Gail PS Veronica, if you're on the lam, you can hide out at my place - if you bring the Caliber!!! ;D

I want the machine too but have no more room in the craft room for it. Uugh! It is time to get rid of things I don't use.

Vicki, I thought that about Dani's voice, too! It's nice to put a voice to the name. He sounds like Antonio Banderas. If I were a few years younger, that voice alone could win me over. (And his huge warehouse of scrapping goodies wouldn't hurt, either!) The next time I need customer service, I may just call instead of emailing! But don't worry, Rose, he is safe. I already have my own DH! Michelle

ladies - this is just killing me. I literally was at band camp today supposedly overseeing the health and well-being of 150 teenagers, marching outside in the 109 degree heat...and what was I doing? Excitedly explaining the new Calibur Grand to one of the other scrappin' band moms! LOL! I think this machine will be mine!!!! I only have about 4 Sizzix dies, so I don't think that's going to be a deal breaker for me. And the footprint is AWESOME!! So I'm thinking I storm the warehouse of Spellbinders, here in Phoenix, and demand the first machine out of the box! Don't you think a field trip is in order? A videoed-field-trip, interview in the interest of Scrapy Land?!!?!?!?!? LOL And yes - that is Dani talking in the video. I've told him for two years {and I told his mother in January - LOL!} that he sounds just like Antonio Banderras! LOL! You nailed in Michelle!

Oh, ICK!!!!!!!!!, Susan! That temperature sounds awful!
However, your sales pitch for the Grand Calibur to the other band moms should make it possible for Dani/Antonio to just order ALL of them (except for the one that SB will hand over to you), and the rest of them are probably already pretty much spoken for at SL, don't you think?

Cat--all the rest of you--yes, you are bragging! But we allow that here, right Divas??! I'm so jealous! Dani, I love what your supplier told you! I'm calling next time I need you! Be sure to wear that wedding ring proudly! Back in DH's pilot days, there were guys known to be "ring pullers." As soon as they went TDY/deployed, they would take off their wedding rings and flirt with all the local women. I always felt so bad for those wives--everyone knew but the wives themselves. But we know that you are a good guy, Dani! Michelle

Sorry Michelle.... I really didn't mean it that way......I was just so surprised.....I really don't expect him to tell me to order it. DH and DS knew how disappointed in the Epic I was. I couldn't get a different cutting mat....I e-mailed...called and was promised over and over...just to be disappointed.
I was so tickled when Dani got them, I ordered 2. DS has worked on my Rev. several times. (bought when they first came out) I 'm so happy with the Rev. I couldn't believe the trouble with the Epic. Disappointed is all I can say. I'm hoping the new cutting mat will help. (ordered mats before I seen this new machine)
For the video to impress my 2 men to the point DH says order it... well I was about to bust a gasket. Could call my girls because 1 was working late and the other was in a card making class at A's.
I had no choice but to tell my friends on here or bust that gasket. Besides I wanted Susan and Dani to know how effective the video and investigative information are. (these two aren't easily impressed)
Hugs to everyone
Cat

Cat, some hubbies bring flowers, some die cuts, some the die cut machines! (Remember when my DH brought me dies from Archivers in May?)
And yes, those videos are powerful marketing tools. If Susan uses a product in a video, it instantly sells out. Good for them, but sometimes I'm not fast enough!

Yes, I remember dies do make a wonder gifts. The really funny thing about it he bought me the Rev. machine too. I had a squeeze and several 2x2s. That year I started working on the spare bedroom as a craft/guest bedroom. I bumped my shin on a Sunday afternoon just a very tiny bit. Yes, it hurt but growing up half tomboy....basketball, volleyball, and track. It wasn't a big deal. I was a teller at the time working about 10 hours a day. By Friday morning my leg was so swelled I couldn't wear pants and decided to wear a dress to work...well there was a part time manager there. When he seen my leg and and felt the heat in it: he thought I needed to see a doctor. He call DH and told him to come and get me. We drove to my doctor who is 30 minutes away, but he wasn't there. I seen a brand new doctor who sent me straight to x-ray in a wheelchair. They injected a dye in the veins all the while making clicking sounds. Next I was told don't move at all. I was sent to the ER in a larger town an hour from there. Hooked up to IV's and told no moving period. I was sent to an operating room and filter was put in my back. It seems I had a blood clot running from my ankle to my hip. They kept me for a week and ordered and another 3 weeks bed rest. I could set up; but no straining. (I was on blood thinners , plus they didn't know if a piece had broke off before the filter was put in.) DH knowing I'm not great at setting still and I can stand just so much TV. Comes in carrying that little black storage case with a hand full of 4x4s and paper...colored pencils and glue. I bout blowed that gasket then too. I know that Rev. and dies saved my sanity all those weeks and all those fast acting people with the Good Lord's help saved my life. (that manager was a youth pastor and the husband to a doctor. He was only there for 2 months) Yes some husband bring flowers, some bring dies and die cutting machines. ( I wouldn't trade him for all the flowers in the world cause he knows what's important to me.) Cat
