I'm starting to work on invites and decor for our annual Halloween party, and want to make some decorations using my dies... thinking of a garland from the pennant die (an obvious choice! ), some cupcake wrappers using the QK die, etc. I'd love to hear what other Divas have done, or are planning to do craft-wise for their Halloween festivities. Pictures would also be appreciated! Thanks for sharing - I seem to have "Crafter's Block" right now, and could really use some inspiration! Please come to my rescue! Gail

See what you started, Mila!
I love your Halloween party, Gail. Our neighbors do the same thing. It was fun to walk around trick or treating with the neighbors and all the kids and then eat yummy food when we got back to the house.
I'm doing nothing Halloween. I'm working on the decorations for the picnic Mass tomorrow. I'm mainly in charge of decorating the shade tent that the seniors use. I'm going to hang a version of Susans medallions around the tent and sprinkle butterflies in the floral arrangements and on the signs around the grounds. Simple, elegant and pretty was what I was going for.
I like the pennant idea (surprise!) Did you get the Martha spider web punch? You could edge the pennants with spider webs. And I know you liked the Graphic 45 paper that Mila used. You could cut out the characters like she did and decorate the pennants that way.

Michelle, you are a honey. I DO have that spider web punch, and I'm going to use your idea - thanks! Our party is strictly for adults, since we have no kids, costumes required, and we usually do it a few days prior to the real night, so our friends with kids can take them trick-or-treating... Its a lot of fun, and the best part is, if the house is a little dusty, or I miss a cobweb here or there, it just adds to the atmosphere! I'd love to see pix of what you do for this weekend, if you get a chance to post them. Thanks again, I knew you would have ideas, since you are the Party Diva! ;D Gail

Gail Do you have the haunted house die and tree? If so layer several cut outs (I use very light chipboard 3 or 4 times then put card stock on each side and ink the edges) cut a groove for k-bob sticks at the bottom (like cupcake toothpick decorations) so you can stick them in foam for stand ups. I done this sort of thing for center pieces for tables. If the lights are turned down low use the small battery tea lights pressed down in the foam behind an added bush or something to put a little light on it. My son has use some of the ranger inks to color the lights and tone down the brightness. Oh yes; I do decorate both sides as if its the front, these can be as simple or detailed as you want and still be a great touch to a table or sitting in a entry or window Hope this helps cat

Great idea, Cat! I love it. And QK makes a chip board that works perfectly with QK dies--it's just the right thickness and it's self stick. I stock pile that stuff for projects like this! And I like the idea of the no flame candles. Very safe! I had a big pack in my hands yesterday at Costco. I may just head back over there and get it... DD keeps asking me for a candle for her room. All the decorating shows use them and she's into that sort of smell-decorating. But can you imagine an 11 YO with a candle in her room??? Not on your life, Skippy! Gail, if you do this every year, I'm sure that you already decorate with the spider web material that can get. It's sort of like poly fill, but stays together when you stretch it out. And it works great for outdoors. We put it on our bushes each year and then take ping pong balls (they make glow in the dark ones) and stick them in the bushes. They're watching.... And then there is the food. Somewhere I have a file on creepy Halloween food. I think it's on the other computer. And you have to name it stuff like "Eye of Newt" and "Zombie Brains." Michelle

OOH, Cat - like that idea, and I do have that die, too! Thanks. Aren't the flameless candles the best?? No worries about setting your jack-o-lantern on fire! Michelle, I'd love any ideas you have for Halloween "finger food"! I'm thinking of "Bat Wings" (Buffalo Wings), but need some other ideas, too. I do have the spider web stuff, but the glow-in the-dark ping pong balls - terrific, and I didn't even know they existed. Gotta get some! Divas, you are the greatest! Thanks. Gail

Michelle, I have kick myself several times for letting the haunted house get away without buying it. Was trying not to use CC so much and missed out on this idea. I just like doing center pieces and used my QK to make other center pieces with this technique. At least it makes me feel good about passing it on to you ladies. Battery tea lights are the way to go at our house. Allergies and A Cat name Velcro make the real thing a big NO NO here. Cat

We don't do anything for Halloween. And we don't even get any kiddlets to oooh and awww over. But I still buy some candy just in case.
You could make Susan medallions out of Halloween paper and make the circle in the front with scary figures and such. Lots for Silhouette - even the free design this week is the medallion!
Wish I was closer Karen

RED It's the red faced I don't know look I'm going for. After I said I missed out on this die for the Halloween idea. My brain said "wait a minute, didn't you later order when Dani had a sale?" I said to brain I don't know ".....brain said "look back on your invoices" ....I said "ok". Brain was right! Guess what I'm Making! I'll set it on my desk at work, since we don't get Trick or Treat kids at our house. Some other employees kids and grandkids come back to operations to Trick or Treat. Glad brain is looking out for me else I could end up in heaps of trouble. Cat

LOL, sorry Michelle i try not to cause too much trouble. Doesn't work most of the time Not sure if you have the cricut or not, but if you do Happy Hauntings has amazing stuff for parties. They have a 3D haunted house you can make and decorate and then put one of those flam-less candles in, they also have 3D caskets you can make (if you don't have a cricut i saw some wooden caskets at M's you an paint and decorate with pattern paper or what ever you like and put little skeliton's in and leave them cracked open. You can modge podge over it to make it sturdier. Put a few around the house. You can even make them as thank you presents for coming over. Put some candies in them and decorate them, maybe personalize them. That would be cute and people can take it home as a keepsake. Hope this helps. Mila

Cat, I'm glad you realized you had the haunted house, before ordering it again! I have to admit, I've ordered duplicate dies several times . But the duplicates do make good little presents for my scrappy friends! ;D Gail

Thanks Gail, I've ordered duplicates before. My girls usually benefit from it. I usually benefit from their goofs so it works out pretty good for all of us. Funny thing was I really didn't think I had gotten it until I wrote I hadn't. Then the somebody switch the light bulb on. It seems I end up purchasing duplicates when I purchase them after the initial release. I need to get a spread sheet made of all my supplies. Cat

No plans for Halloween party wise. We have our school auction on the 30th and the 31st is a Sunday so I will be in church and I have coffee hour that morning. Karen I still buy some candy too. Sometimes we have a few little ones but usually less than 10 or none. I am more of a Fall decorator not really into Halloween so much. I live in the country so only get close neighbors or family. some in town get 100's. I would not know how to handle that. Deborah

We moved here from Virginia a year ago. At our old house, there were just 5 houses on a narrow one lane road (in town!) It was a nice quiet setting and all our neighbors were quite a bit older. Our kids were the first kids on the street in years and years. When we trick or treated that year, I wasn't sure if anyone would have candy, but they ALL did. And they were so excited to have my guys show up on their doorstep. One family even had treats for Big Dog!

When we first moved here 15 years ago there were alot of trick-or-treaters. It seemed like people were being bussed in or something! We do still get a good amout of kids (the tiny ones are the cutest ) but we go to carnivals at our church or the school so we miss most of it. We do have candy ready just in case. I like to make treat bags for my daughters class (if I remember in enough time ) I am loving Frankenstien this year and Mummies so we will see what comes of it Oh and Milas Halloween Alice-- I have got to find that!!!! so very cute!!! Crazy4pink,
I am not sure if you have the tags, bags, boxes & more cartridge, but they have really cute boxes and little treat / goody bags you can make. I made some Mickey Mouse ones a few weeks ago for my sons birthday, i will post tomorrow so you can see, but you can put Halloween embellies instead of Mickey Mouse ones and that would be cute. I am planning on making goody boxes for my son's pre-school for Halloween, i already have all of the boxes cut out, after i am done embellishing i will post a pic.
Hugs,
Mila

Cindy, how old is your daughter? I can't remember. One of the best treat bags I made for the kids' classes was to take a food grade plastic glove (the kind food servers wear) and fill it with popcorn and candy corn. Put the candy corn in the finger tips like finger nails and then fill the gloves with candy. They are clear, so the kids can see that they get a bit of a treat with the healthier choice of popcorn. I also saw some Martha Stewart gloves for the same thing, but these had the hand bones printed on them. A little spookier! And Martha had some paperboard coffins that were fun. But those were 6 in a pack for $5. I was so tempted to buy a package and trace the template, but this is the first time in 8 years that I haven't done a class party. I don't have any elementary school aged kids as of now. It's sort of sad! Michelle

Daughter is in 6th grade so this is the last year, I am sure, that I can do this I love the glove idea- I have seen it before but never tried it. I also like the box idea. I do not have that cartridge but I have the Sil that has boxes so I can adapt. I usually just cover the top of Zippy bags with cardstock and decorate it for which ever holiday it is. The hard part is spending so much time and love on the things and seeing them torn up on the floor after the kids get the candy out The reward it the oohing and aahing of the other Moms that happen to be there. Cindy, our girls are the same age! How did I miss that? Sixth grade is middle school here, and they don't do any parties or anything. But I usually send in pumpkin muffins or something simple for the kids. I feel like they should have a little something. I know what you mean about the other moms ooohing and aahing! If it helps, the kids do notice. They just don't always say something. But a month or two later, they will say something to me. And as DD get's older, the girls seem to care more. Gail, what about napkin rings with the spider web punch? Or put them around candleless (flameless!) I've got Martha's products on the brain. Michelle

Michelle, love the napkin ring and candle idea. I'm really excited after going to Marshall's yesterday and finding silver candle holders shaped like bones - nice and creepy!! Have black tapers to put in them. Think they'll go on the buffet table... Michelle, you really are the Super Hostess Diva! Thanks ladies for the great ideas - keep 'em coming, and post some pix if you can! Gail

Ha! Who needs more ideas for class parties or kids fall crafts? I have TONS of those.
In the last 8 years, I did 12 class parties, not including what we did in preschool. I reuse stuff, tweak it to make it fresh and when we move, it's all new again!

Michelle I understand about school parties ending. So sad. My kiddos where spaced just right for me to get in 12 years of being the room mother who planned and did all the parties. There was even 2 years where I had an extra room to plan for. (Room mothers of those rooms left taking the party money with them, Eugene and I couldn't stand the thought of those kiddos not having a party so we furnished goodies for them too.) Eugene does wood working, so he always help with party favors. We both always had so much fun working together making favors. We both miss it. cat
