Cat sent me a cool gum tin filled with ribbon and so wanted to use them but I couldn't figure out how to glue them to the card. Finally, I found the xyron 2.5 sticker creater and ran the ribbon through it and Wow now the ribbon laid down on the card perfectly!
Now I have started adding to the ribbons she sent me and found more gum tins to store them in. Love your storage idea Cat!
I have to say I am a bit addicted to ribbon now!!!
Thank you Cat!!!

oh picture of gum tin pleez ;D and i use double sided tape to put ribbon on pages and cards - the only place i can get the xyron refills up here is micheals and they are 10.00 for the 2.5" ones so..... only get them with the 40% off coupon and 1/2 the time we go to the city [2.5hrs away] there are no coupons so and the $ stores sell the tape for!! you bet!! $1.00 so what do you use for your lace mila? i have used a glue stick but....it is messy definately pic of the gum tin though pleez cause i don't know what that is thanx

I can't seem to make a card without ribbon. I keep my LO pages pretty flat, but love to add that dimension to a card.
Chili, you need to get a Xyron "X" machine. They are about $10 and I think they are only 1 1/2". But that's what I run my ribbon through and any die borders that I really want to STICK. Mike's has xyron sales--watch for one of them so that you can use your coupon for something really good!
Since I have the ATG now, I use that a lot for ribbon. Love it! It's super sticky and the ATG rolls easy enough that it doesn't stretch the ribbon when I apply it.
I'm still in love with my ATG!

I'm so glad you are enjoying the ribbon...I use double stick tape to stick my ribbons down. I've had an addiction to ribbons and laces forever...can't pass up a good sale on it....I even seek out clearances and discontinued areas in stores to find it. Ladies in fabric departments know if it's a really good deal I'm buying the whole bolt or spool. Get ready to measure!!! So when you said you didn't have room for ribbons and didn't have any. I thought: Well a Scrapping Diva can't live without RIBBONS and I had a plently to share and perfect space saving storage idea!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ribbons were going to your house!!! Sorry for the addiction...well not really!!!! LOL Where did you find more gum tins? I thought it was only a Christmas deal. I'd love to find more to give as gifts. Cat

I use the scor-pal tape that Dani has for ribbon. It goes on super easy. I use the 1/4 inch . You don't have to cut it as it tears. Then I tie a bow and adhere the bow to my ribbon with clear DOTS. works really well for me. I haven't got my ATG gun yet. One of these days. Deborah

I use double sided tape. I have two Xyrons but not the 2.5. I'll need to see what that one looks like.

My favorite tool for ribbon is the Scotch ATG Tape Gun that Dani now sells. It is so easy and work on sheer ribbon as well as heavier ribbon. In case you haven't ordered one here is the link! www.scrapyland.com/Scotch_ATG_Tape_Gun_Pink_p/pinkatg.htmsmiles, susie

I use Fabritac, the manufacturer is Beacon. I love this adhesive for lace. It dries clear and boy it sticks. It also doesn't pump too much out at one time, so i can get a thin nice line of adhesive for the lace. I do have a xyron (got it one year for Christmas), but the refills are so expensive, i really don't use it.

Just like Michelle, I use the Xyron X too!! Mine is pink It works great for all kinds of ribbon. I especially love it for velvet ribbon. Before I discovered the X I used glue on velvet ribbon and it totally showed through I use ribbon on almost everything that I make Cindy

I do have the X and after looking at the 2.5, I see that the X can do the job. BUT I'm with Mila, the refills are so expensive and I can't stand it that you lose almost an inch just to get the tape started. I use mine for bigger fonts (I try to do Susan's tape technique whenever possible) and for small diecuts.

This is why I LOVE the SL messageboard. I NEVER thought of running ribbon through my Xyron 2.5! What a great idea. I have ribbon but quit using it because I couldn't figure out how to attach it so that it would stay and look nice. I also have the ATG now, so I have two options! Ribbon, here I come. By the way, Joanne's online store has the Xyron refills on sale a few times a year. I wait for that sale and then stock up. I never buy them at Mike's. Too expensive!

I'll buy them at Mike's, but only with a sale or a coupon. I think Walmart may carry them, too. The X is a great tool for kids to use. They waste a ton, but it's fun for them and it really sticks stuff down. And you know kids and stickers!

I use the Xyron for ribbon, too. Tried the glue dots lines, and they work, but I find them more difficult to use. Frankly, I use Xyron for most everything. I have a 5" to take to crops, and a 9" for home (just check out Dani's price on this baby - only $49, and it comes with a free carrying case!!), as well as my X. To avoid waste, I Xyron a hunk of paper BEFORE I die cut it, then run it through my Rev or Big Shot. (With the X I die cut first, than apply adhesive). Then, my scraps are also sticky, and I can save them for other projects and smaller die cuts. If you apply adhesive after you die cut something, then a lot of adhesive comes off with the backing and is wasted... This method also saves a lot of time, especially with fonts, since I'm not applying glue to each little piece - just peel and stick! Like Michelle, I get my refills at M's with coupons or when they're on sale, and try to keep a few back-ups on hand so I don't run out. I don't use tons of ribbon on my pages, but use a fair amount on cards, especially once I realized I could use the X to apply adhesive! Gail

If you apply adhesive after you die cut something, then a lot of adhesive comes off with the backing and is wasted... I just recently discovered this tip. I always wondered when people said they used their Xyron to adhere letters! I couldn't get those tiny letters to go through smoothly. But if you run the CS through first and then do your die cutting--wowza! It works really well when the die doesn't cut all the way throught the thicker card stock. Then it's like peeling the letters off a sticker sheet. Michelle

What a good idea! I've used the self-adhesive paper from Bazill, but I never thought of making my own self-adhesive paper. Maybe I should look at the 9-inch machine . . .

Gail, I love your tip for putting a hunk of paper through the Xyron machine before die cutting. I never thought about doing it that way or using it for my ribbons. It seems I'm still in the dark ages. I thought I was up town when I discovered glue pens, glimmer mist and Copics. I'm always finding out new cool tips and information about stuff I don't have a clue about. Guess that's what happens when a country bumpkin hangs out on a message board with " cool city gals". Thank you ladies for all the great tips (enabling)....... ...... especially the Xyron on ribbon and die cuts tips. You just made my cards with ribbons addiction a lot easier to deal with. Now to find some sells or coupons for Xyron......But for now I'm off to Susan's Blog to have a look or two at all the great projects you ladies have been working on...... Cat

I love ribbon on my projects. For the most part, I only adhere the ribbon to the back of the card layer I am working on, as I am usually layering something on top of the ribbon. But have found that if I do put adhesive on the back of my ribbon, I can usually cut it flush without wrapping it around back.
This is what I do love about our MB, we love to exchange ideas and advise. Keep the great ideas flowing!

I just got a great deal on the Xyron 900 and carrying case at, where else, Scrapy Land. Couldn't believe the price! Now I have to figure out how to get the package in the house before my DH sees it. Oh, wait a minute, he got the muzzle loader. Yay! I don't have to hide!
