Hi, I was wondering how people store their ink pads? I was wondering if the below picture showing a storage solution I am thinking about using is ok to store the pads this way. Thanks! Cindy ;D

Cindy, I'm not an expert on Memento ink pads but here is what I do know.
Memento™ is a dye ink. I have always stored my die inks flat & upside down. The die ink tends to settle toward the bottom so if you store them upside down the best color will settle on the surface where you ink the stamp.
Pigment inks are usually thicker and so the pads are fine stored right side up.
I love the way you can see each color in the pockets but I would be hesitant to store these great pads on their sides unless someone else knows better. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on these dye ink pads.
smiles, susie

Definitely...flat and upside down for die inks! I have a friend who used to own a rubber stamp store (back when the first rubber stamp craze started), and she had been told by the manufacturers of die inks that this was the best way. Otherwise, the ink will eventually dry out on the top surface, and it's hard to "revive" the pad. I would guess that the same thing would happen to the uppermost side of an ink pad stored on its side.

I'll echo what Susie and Diane said. I face this dilemma with ink pads as well. I keep them in a drawer and I always have to dig for what I'm looking for. It's never easy to locate.
But this is the way that Gail stores her Glimmer mists. Or you could use this to store punches.

Michelle is right...it's hard to have to dig through a drawer to find the right color. I used to have dozens, and eventually discovered that I didn't use them enough, and after time, they dried out, even when stored upside-down.
However, since I don't have a lot of solid-area stamps any more (I was trying to get over my stamping addiction until Dani brought in the Magnolias!), I have only 5 or 6 ink pads...black, dark brown, a lighter brown, a gray, and a tan. I use my Copics (my other new addiction!) or pencils to color them.
Using the vertical storage for punches is a great idea. When we had a LSS, that's how she stored the store punches, and it was easy to find what we were looking for.

I will post a picture later this afternoon how I store mine. I love stamping and have lots of stamp pads that shave been used for the last 10+ years. Right now I need to go meet our son's fiance's mother for the first time. For this I need prayer. more later..... susie

Upside down is best. Stampin' Up even created a way to open and close their stamp pads that leave the pad upside down.

Thanks for the responses so far. I'm new to stamping so that is why I asked. I thought it would be great to use but figured that it wouldn't be good for the pads. I'll look forward to your picture. Good luck meeting your son's soon to be mother in law. Cindy

Susie, and a big Wow--what a big day for you! Do you like the fiancee? I hope all goes well for you! I love my MIL--she drives me batty just like my own mom would, but I still love her. Michelle

Hi, Here are 3 pictures of my favorite stamp pads stored on top of my desk. I like the vertical stack because I can see my color options. I found this box at an antique store. I think it originally held Ritz dye! Some of my pads are too wide and so I bought a cheap shelf to stack these pads on. My favorites are Color Box pads as they really last a long time. Brilliance Pads are pigment ink but they tend to dry out so I store them upside down. I do like Tim Holtz distress pads (dye ink) but don't have many. I think they should be stored upside down. Karen, I love you tutorial for sharing pictures. But why are my last 2 pics so big? I thought I resized them... I'm sorry they were so big...

Mine are stacked upside-down on a shelf, too, but since I don't have that many, it's easy to get to the right one. They are on the same shelf as the storage box for my cling stamps, because they're all in one stack. If I had more, I'd have to make more shelf space!

Susie, that happens to me with photos. But I think that I figured out the secret. When you resize the photos, there is a button to the right, "apply." Otherwise, I think it takes a while for the formatting to catch up with the photo.
In any case, the photos look fine!
