3/4 cup butter 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1/2 tsp vanilla 2 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt
Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients and add to the wet ingredients. Chill for a few hours and then roll out on a lightly floured surface. Bake at 400 degrees for 6-8 minutes, just until golden brown around the edges.

Thanks, Karen! This was my mom's recipe. DH likes them rolled thicker--the cookie is softer. I like crispy sugar cookies, so I roll a few out thin. It's very versatile! I was watching AB the other day. (For those of you who don't live in my house, that's Alton Brown from the Food Channel's show Good Eats. ) He was recommending rolling out sugar cookies using powdered sugar. I've always rolled them out with flour, but may try p. sugar this year. It does sound yummy! Michelle

Ahhh...AB's "Good Eats"! It's one of my DD's favorite shows, and if I'm paying attention, I learn a few things from it! DH has several of his books, and the tools he recommends have helped to fill his (DH's) stocking for several years!!

I was researching Sugar Cookies tonight while Pat was rolling out Sugar Cookies they said to roll out using powder sugar instead of flour. We were on our latch batch, but will try it later this week when we do the second batch
