Aww really? Well not every one will be a big hit, I suppose, but I would have expected the CHA one to be, well, exciting! It will give me a chance to catch up to the dies I want but haven't gotten yet, or the other products that get left behind in the dust because I always buy dies instead, haha.

Silly me, I just checked my email and looked at the new dies finally I'm a little bored with the release, too. I love nesting dies because you get so many and can find just the right size needed, but these are definitely "useful but not amazing". I do like that wonky looking round flower one, though. Did anyone else go "Wait, did I click on Spellbinders by mistake?" when they first looked at these?

Yup, I sure did. They look almost exactly like the spellbinder dies that I already have. My money is safe with this release. If these had come out 3 years ago, I would have been all over them. I'm sure many people will like them, but they would be mostly duplicates for me.

Now I see this as a great opportunity to get those dies that I missed. I agree, I love the fun dies. But really, what dies are the ones you reach for again and again? I think the most used dies in my stash are my nesting circles!
If you're talking the most bang for your buck, the classics are the way to go. And the nesting dies are such a great bargain--18-22 dies for $19? You have ready made mats, journaling blocks, backgrounds, you name it.
And did you see the hexagons? Be still by scrapy quilting heart! That one I'm excited about. Stop signs for all of my son's car pages. But, BUT!, I can finally make my Grandma's Flower Garden quilt. You have to cut about 8 jillion hexagons for that quilt and if you aren't accurate, the quilt is wonky. Now I don't have to cut all those pieces and each one will be absolutely perfect. Whoo hoo!

Oh, Michelle, the hexagons sound like just the ticket for quilting. And, um, stop signs are octagons, not hexagons. But, still I am sure you need the hexagons. This will give you an excuse to buy some octagons some day too.

See I always reach for my alphas and shapes. I do use my nesting circles and flowers but I have no need for all those nesting dies. I am quite happy with the ones I have I miss the old QK releases. They were always inventive and fun. They always had shapes and alphas. I really miss the classis 2x2 and cookie cutter complete alphas - upper, lower, numbers, and puncuation. Just seems like they are riding the coat tails of other die companies now when they used to be the ones in the lead. Here's to hoping that August's release rocks!

The more I stare at them, the more uses I can dream up for them! I saw some samples where a minibook was made from the eyelet-hole squares and it was darling! I can see myself getting several of these now, but nothing is an immediate have-to-have for me personally. Still, as more pictures of ideas are posted, I'll keep wanting them more!
