So, I was browsing through the new designs today for the Silhouette store today and they have patterns that seem like they are to print your own scrapbook paper. Is this a new feature of the Silhouette Cameo and will there be special paper to buy to print on? Regardless, I'm impatiently awaiting the arrival of my Silhouette Cameo in October

I got an email about something along that line but since I am not looking at renewing my subscription at this time I didn't pay too much attention to it. I'll see if it is still in my trash!

Yeah, I just looked at my email and found that too. It doesn't say whether or not special paper is needed.

Hey Noelle, Since we appear to be having this conversation together, ( ) I think it is just plain card stock that is used. Just my thought!

Noelle the patterns are to fill in shapes. Like a "paintbucket" tool in Photoshop or InDesign. You purchase a card shape and a herringbone pattern - fill in the card shape with the herringbone pattern...print the card and then cut it with the Cameo. Like custom making your print-and-cut designs. So if you have Easter Egg shapes, and they are just outlines of ovals - you can purchase a swirly floral pattern, change the colors, and fill each egg in with a different pattern/color/design. You print on your printer...and then feed it into your Cameo to cut. Does that make sense???

So it's just for printing patterns for shapes, not whole pages of paper?

But, Noelle, you can also print a sheet of paper. Just "draw" a rectangle the size of your paper, fill it in with the selected pattern and print. Then you can die cut it or use as background just like any PP! Just did it with one of the new patterns. A bunch of patterns are included with the latest software upgrade, and you can purchase others for 79 cents each. I printed mine on regular copy paper, cheap white cardstock from the office supply store, and glossy photo paper. they all came out fine, though the glossy needs a bit of drying time. I did this with my old, original Silhouette, so you don't need the Cameo to be able to do it, just the latest software. Hope this helps! Gail

So it's just for printing patterns for shapes, not whole pages of paper? exactly what Gail said. You can print an entire sheet - I'm just not sure it's something I'd personally do...that's just me! I like the idea of filling in Sil shapes with the pattern...seems I was always cutting out Sil shapes from patterned paper, so this skips a step almost! Sounds like I need to upgrade to the newest version like Gail suggested - if there are freebies included in the upgrade...count me in!!

Regardless, I'm impatiently awaiting the arrival of my Silhouette Cameo in October hey Noelle - now I'm totally curious to check out and see if the pattern ends up "stretching and getting bigger" when you'd stretch to fill an 8.5x11" rectangle. Of if the pattern is already big enough... now you've got me curious. If the pattern just stretches to fill an 8.5x11 then some of the patterns might get really wonky looking... now I've got to hook up my Sil and check it out...

Ok so if I sell the Original Sil on ebay with new cutting mats and a new blade. How much do you all think I can list it for?

I am not sure what to put on mine either. I have several cutting mats and blades but wouldn't the mats work on the Cameo???
Does someone know if they do??? I really hate to have to reinvest in new everything to go with the new machine!
I was looking for Dani's original notice about the Cameo. Did he have a 2 or 3 month plan for purchasing? I just spent $175.00 on a Complete Crafter's Companion set ( Ultimate Storage Tool, Cards, Paper, Stickers, Rub ons, 5 sets of Garden Fairy Stamps, 3-D Image Sheets, Card stock printed embellishments, and a CD that prints over $2,000 images ) and almost $200.00 on some storage supplies and units for my craft room this week. I am in love with Garden Fairies and they are wonderful for all occasions except perhaps items for 5+ boys.
Or perhaps I will just have to wait a couple of months and save my made money to buy it. By then everyone will have theirs and I will have tons of feedback from everyone.

hmmm! I know that the mats I have aren't for the SD. They don't have the grids on them. I do want the Cameo for the 12x12 feature. I'm assuming the blades are the same and I'm willing to include a new blade along with the one that is in the machine currently that still cuts fine. The machine still works great so I'm thinking $99 plus shipping. Hopefully to get it listed tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it does. I guess the worse that can happen is I lose the listing fee.

DONE! now I hope it sells and I can finally put the new machine on layaway. My husband said he would get it for me for Christmas but I don't want to wait.

I'm pulling for your Sil to sell, Dania!! My LSS is having a consignment sale in 2 weeks, and I'll be selling mine then... Would love to know what you get for it to help me with pricing! Thanks! What I read when the Cameo was first announced was that our old mats will work (though obviously not for 12x12), as will our blades. However, we'll no longer need the blade caps, as they now have a dial on the machine to change the cutting depth. Coolio!! They also said that the new mats will be sturdier and stay sticky longer - sounds good to me!! Can't wait to play with it! Gail

I'll let you know Gail. I listed it for $99 or best offer. If I have to re-listed for lower all the goodies won't go with it. Between the new mats and new blade that is $30-$35 alone.

It is Karen! I had a lot of folks asking questions about the machine and one girl was just trying to work her finances out but it sold. Today she contacted me to let me know that I would be hearing from her soon. I told her to come here and buy a new one on layaway. ;D
Anyway I had over 70 hits and 8 folks watching. So there is interest.
