It's kinda quiet around here today! Everyone must have a lot going on, or nothing going on! I'm cutting out a bunch of Pumpkin Marci's that I colored yesterday when my SL package arrived-she's stinkin' adorable!! My little sister wore the same costume for 4 years because she never grew any taller. In fact, she could still wear it now! Since Momma always made our costumes, I'm sure it's still packed away at my parents' house. When I saw this stamp, I knew I had to send both my parents and my sister a Halloween card with it on there! I don't know that I have ever in my life sent, so much as made, a Halloween card, but this was a good motivator! So for my weekend, I plan to figure out how the card should look and get them made up. Tonight we have to go to a fancy grown up birthday party, like the ones on TV, lol so I have to wear big girl clothes and shoes that hurt. I begged to just stay home in my jammies and play with paper, but I didn't win. It will be a nice evening meeting new people and having some grown up time without Sawyer, I'm sure! But tomorrow, it's back to scrappin' business! What about you?

I don't have Pumpkin Marci yet, but Witch Marci arrived yesterday with a fresh stack of EP halloween papers, Jenni Bowlin halloween papers, a new supply of foam dots and glue dots and some new secrets that I can't mention! Also - got one of the Sizzix die/stamp combo packs - oh my gosh - can't wait to play with that! but in order to play today I'm going to have to make room - my work space is MIA under paper and markers and notes! so this morning - I clean...this afternoon I get to play! can't wait to see your card Nikki!

Oh my gosh I had to do the same thing! I have managed to spread my scrapbook area-a nice, plush 10x30ft basement area-from down there to up here.. first I just brought a couple things up by the computer... then I needed my dies/cutters, then I brought a folding table upstairs and put it by the backdoors so I could scrap and keep an eye on Sawyer and Chewie in the backyard... had a pile on the dining room table for a while.. Then it all just sorta got unkempt in a hurry, Copics strewn about and all these stamps I'm starting to get into.. I spent Thursday with a bunch of empty sterilite containers just grouping things together. They aren't back downstairs yet, but now I have a nice clean open surface on that folding table to play on again!
And until the perfect presentation for Marci pops into my noggin, I'm going to cut some more triangle boxes for some more of Karen's candy corn idea before I run out of time to hand these out at work!

Been organizing some dies that I have, making labels and updating the cases. Cut out a few cactus for a project.
Getting ready to head over to work for a few minutes and then we're taking Maite for her pictures today and I'll meet my cousin for dinner tonight.
Busy afternoon but got to relax!

I sorted out a couple of drawers this morning, and put paper packs (cardstock, mostly) away. I hope to see the quilt on the bed in the guest bedroom one of these days! We went to the park for a while this afternoon, and I'm thinking that a short nap might be just around the corner!

We got carpet today!!! Yippee!!! It's been over 5 weeks since our basement flooded-10 days after we moved in. The house has been in chaos and the amount of research, phone calls, paperwork, etc has been staggering and mind numbing. But they boys are moving us back in. Whoo hoo! DS has a friend over tonight and they are planning a sleepover in the "Teen Cave." And DD is complaining that she didn't think of it first! I'm just hoping to have all the boxes and stuff out of my living room and back in the basement. Christmas decorations should not be stored in the formal living room!

The house has been in chaos and the amount of research, phone calls, paperwork, etc has been staggering and mind numbing. I can only imagine! Do you need to add barriers to prevent a future flood. Hopefully you will not have a recurrence. There were quite a bit of flash floods in Colima due to the huracane that hit last week - it reminded me to check with my daughter Faby who's buying a house to check the area! Thank goodness she's in an area that wasn't affected.

The basement flooded through the basement door. We have sort of an in-law suite down there. The water funneling through the neighborhood came down the stairs and forced it's way through the door seal. We had about 3 feet of water in the stairwell.
We put in another step, essentially making a patio and a mini retaining wall about 8" above grade. We also installed some drain traps and more french drains. The yard was a huge mud pit, but it worked beautifully this week with the rains. They laid sod on Thursday and it looks lovely and lush back there! Big Dog has been just hanging out outside, laying in the grass.
We spent the afternoon vacuuming and wiping everything down. We had plastic sheeting up, but of course the drywall dust is everywhere. We have the guest room pretty well set up for the sleepover, the TV set up and the bathroom wiped down. I'm happy to report that the surge suppressor worked and the TV/VCR/TiVo/cable box all work. I was wondering where I was going to find another DVD player! But the surge suppressor was under 6" of water and I was wondering if it fried the TV and such. But all that was saved. The Xbox was on the floor (and it was less than a month old!) and bit the dust, but the rest was saved.
And that is my fun day! But I'm just so happy to be getting stuff back to normal, I don't really care. I just want my house back!

What a relief to have your house back. I know about the mess drywall can make. Our house has always been a work in progress, but somethings can cause such a mess. Last year when all of the plumbing froze and busted I didn't know wither to kick a stump or cry. I was really dreading doing without water, and the time and mess a plumber makes plus trying to work 30 miles away. (Hubby had always handled our small plumbing problems) But this was a major mess. (he can't bend to get under the house now) It filled the crawl way with water until it was running from under the house. (Temperatures warmed just long enough for the water to start flowing and make a huge mess then it was freezing again.) So we had freezing cold with no water and plumbing that needed fixed. Thank goodness DS thinks outside the box & is very handy; he took two days off work...... he used a pond pump to pump water from under the house then used large rolls of thick black plastic to roll out under the house in the crawl space to get to the pumping. He replaced all of the plumbing and fixed it so it wouldn't freeze again. He did track in tons of mud, but he help clean that up too. Thank Goodness. We found out 3 days later you couldn't get plumbing supplies within 200 hundred miles to do it yourself. There was some people who couldn't get a plumber for 6 weeks. Thank Goodness he didn't wait another day or two. Enjoy having your house back Michelle! Cat

Spent the morning scouring JoAnns looking for the perfect fabric for Daughters "Alice in Wonderland" costume. It took us an hour but we picked something that was fun and not too expensive!! After that I worked a bit on my recipe cards. I get distracted easily, so I also played with some fabric that I am using to make a Christmas quilt.
I love crafting!! Cindy

Well, this weekend was an adult getaway weekend for me! My husband and I and 4 other couples went up to Traverse City, MI (1.5 hours away) to spend the weekend at a casino, doing wine tours and eating out!! Just enjoying all the fun and company!! It was FABULOUS!! We discovered a type of wine we like, came out ahead a the casino and had a blast!! I'm now back home, cleaning up around the house and trying to (as Gail put it) get started on some top secret things..... (my lips are sealed ladies.....!!!!!) Pam

Pam that sounds like a great weekend.
Right now - Sunday I am at work (sigh) not where I want to be but I did bring photos and papers to organize some pages for this Friday's Expo crop in Sacramento.
Saturday I organized Christmas and Halloween card items to take to the expo and cleaned my desk off which was in desperate need of a thorough cleaning. Our outside fridge came so got to refill that and of course household chores. Nothing very exciting.

Sounds like quite a bit of organizing has been going on this weekend, ladies! Congrats, Michelle, on the carpeting! One step closer!! Cindy, you kinda sound like how I was crafting today. I kept jumping between projects, too! I finally, at 9pm, decided that I needed to get at least one thing all the way to completion else I may not be able to fall asleep! Pam-SO JEALOUS! That sounds like a really, really nice time and I'm glad you took advantage of the opportunity! And Miss Leslie, I can't wait to hear about your expo fun! I haven't gone to one in about a decade and I actually miss the craziness of it all! Thanks everyone for telling me about your weekends

So, with all that cleaning going on, are you all ready to play? Fall Frenzy is only a week away! And now I want to go on a wine tasting weekend. We used to do that when we lived in Riverside, CA. Ahhh, those easy days in the pre-kid years!
