Thought it would be fun to hear about what everyone is doing and eating this Christmas season. Here is what we are going to do.
Christmas Eve- Dinner at my sil's house. There are about 16 kids under 10. So much fun. Santa gives out gifts to them all. We eat prime rib, ravioli, salad and pies.
Christmas Day- Breakfast at home. Dinner at my house. My mil and fil will join my side of the family too. My kids are the only ones there, but lots of great aunts and uncles. We are doing turkey, ham, potatoes, stuffing and lots of homemaid cookies for dessert. Going to setup a hot chocolate bar too.

Sounds delish - and it's great to have family together! Keith and I are having a quiet Christmas this year... no traveling to speak of and no guests. Christmas Eve - we have potato pancakes, cucumber salad, and sausage (Sounds crazy I know - crazy good!! It was a specialty of my Dad's, and a tradition we love to continue.) See what's in our stockings and watch old Christmas movies. Christmas Day - With no kids, we get to sleep in. We're not having gifts this year (other than stocking stuffers) - we give the money we would have spent to someone we know who is in need instead. Haven't decided on Christmas Dinner yet - except that we're having something non-traditional!! We'll visit my Mom in the afternoon, bring her gifts (I have an album to finish, among other things!), and spend some time with her. Lots of time to relax and unwind! Gail

Gail..you need some Grandkids..LOL..sleep in..no such thing
Christmas Eve - Going to my Mom's house. We are doing our Italian thing (yes we are Italian)..so home made Raviolis and I am bringing a Tiramasu. Not many people that night, one of my kids, Mom's brother and wife and her Cousin and husband.
Christmas Day - My house with most of my kids and grandkids. Cook breakfast in the am then shoo my daughter and clan out the door. For dinner head back up to my mom's where my Daughter and family will join in along with one of my brothers and his two kids. Menu will again be traditional but Prime Rib and I think {gasp} I don't have to bring anything so easy evening for me other than probably dish duty.

Hmmm...a non-traditional Christmas Eve for us this year. We will be at the Detroit Lions vs. the San Diego Chargers game that evening as part of my son's Christmas gift. He LOVES the Chargers and for years has been wanting to see them play. SOOOOO, they were on the Lions schedule this year and it happened to be Christmas eve! Perfect!! Christmas Day will be at my MILs house (love her!!) as she lives closer to the game than us (we're 3 hours away). So we'll be at her house for the weekend. Not sure what we're eating, but we'll be spending it with our family, MIL, SIL/BIL and niece! Should be fun!! Can't wait!! Pam

We live quite far from family, so it'll be only us four this year.
Christmas Eve: Nativity at church (me for the dress up and DS playing guitar), then cold dinner with smoked salmon, different salads, ham, pastries and nice French cheese. Afterwards opening presents, eating cookies and later midnight church. (Opening presents on Christmas eve is tradition here)
Christmay Day: Sleeping in (advantage of tradition see above ;D ;D) We'll have goose with dumplings and red cabbage for lunch, field salad with roasted ham as apetizer, but I haven't decided on the desert yet. So far very traditional Chrismas menue.
26th: In Germany we have two days off and as usual we'll have brunch with friends and their children.

Christmas Eve at my moms with the clan- 2 parents, 6 kids, 4 spouces, 1 boyfriend, 8 grandkids, and a partridge in a pear tree . We all bring something to share for the traditional Christmas dinner- I am bringing mashed potatoes and green salad to go with Turkey and ham. I tried to get them to do something different like maybe a taco bar or soemthing but was vitoed!! We have 13 adults so we have a gift swap. Each person brings a nice gift and we do the white elephant exchange. Everyone gets a number then #1 picks a gift and opens it. #2 can take the first gift or get a new one. #3 can swipe someones gift or pick a new one and so on. Once a gift has changed hands 3 times it is safe and cannot be swiped anymore. It sounds harsh but is alot of fun. Christmas Day we are home with just the 4 of us. Gifts in the morning, then big breakfast. Not sure what I want for dinner but we might try Cornish Game Hens?? I have not done these before so it might be fun. Cindy

We head for MN on Friday. We'll spend Christmas eve at my grandmother's house. We're French and celebrate on Christmas eve, too. Grandma is 82 and going strong. With 4 kids and spouses, 9 grandkids and spouses/SO and 4 great grandkids, it's a full house. Some will pop in and out during the night, but at one time or another we are usually all there. One year, there were 30 of us. It was crazy but fun!
We will go to Mass Christmas morning and then spend the day at my parents. It's a much quieter day and pretty relaxing. If there is snow, we usually go out cross country skiing and snow shoeing, depending on who chooses what.
The 26th we will spend with DH's side of the family in the morning and my brother and his wife that night. I think we will sleep in on Tuesday!
Merry Christmas everyone!

We will go to my MIL on Christmas Eve. She decided this year to have a non traditional Christmas Eve dinner. Meatloaf. Yuck! Oh well. I guess I shouldn't complain. Christmas Day early morning. We head to my dad's in Northwestern Wisconsin for Christmas. My sister always brings the ham. We have a pot luck style dinner which is really fun. My dad is 80 and doing very well for his age. We will spend the night, then head back home on Monday. Merry Christmas!

For the first time in many years, Pat and I are staying home for Christmas.
Pat's sister has invited us for Christmas Eve dinner. I guess she is having 12 people over. I am doing up a dessert plate with some of my baking and some Linor chocolates.
Christmas day we are home. I make a Make Ahead French toast and we have champagne and orange juice! Dinner is traditional, including warm Christmas pudding with a lovely sauce that is my Mom's recipe.
Merry Christmas Karen

Tomorrow Christmas eve, we are celebrating with my inlaws and Christmas day we are celebrating with my side. I'm hoping Christmas will go as good as possible with my grandma being there, she is starting to be even more impossible to get along with because she is mean spirited alot of the time and always wants to be center of attention even on our wedding day :/

happy Christmas EVE!!!!
it's 5:51am here in AZ and I've already been to the airport once this morning. Neighbors were heading out, I couldn't stand the thought of them paying for a cab when I knew I would be awake anyway! Then I'm heading back to the airport in another hour to pick up hubby - who has been in Nebraska all week at Great Grandma's funeral. It was yesterday and the weather was perfect - all children and grandchildren were in attendance, and only 4 of the 12 great grandchildren were missing {mine being 2 of them}, and the newest great-great was there as well.
He flies in this morning and then I'm locking the front door and not leaving again until we take our daughter back to the airport on the 27th. She's Orlando bound with the Marching Band - so we have to get her back to Nebraska so she can jump on the team charter.
Other than mass this afternoon, neighborhood brunch tomorrow late morning and some overdue napping, we are laying extremely low this weekend. Not having house guests feels extremely odd, but the pressure is definitely much lower too!
In case anyone is looking for a good weekend movie - the kids and I went to see New Year's Eve yesterday - cute cute cute movie! LOTS of big names in it - several stories all running concurrently. Happy ending with a sweet message!! I recommend it!!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, joyous weekend, to everyone!!

Right now my dad is frying some bacon and baking some hash browns so we can jump out of bed and have breakfast burritos tomorrow morning without having to do a lot of cooking.
I'm about to bake cranberry apple bread, a recipe I included in the first Diva cookbook swap. My sister made brownies last night (holy cow the whole house smelled like chocolate--HEAVEN!!). I've got some shortbread dough in the freezer that I made last weekend. I might bake that later, too, or wait until tomorrow.
My grandma is making enchiladas in fine Texas style for dinner tonight. Then tomorrow we'll have traditional turkey and ham. Lots of tasty food to be grateful for!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!!
We went to my sister's on Friday night for my side of the family's celebration and then I was busy up until Christmas Eve afternoon handpainting glassware for Christmas gifts. I painted wine glasses, beer glasses, vases, hurricane vases for candles, irish coffee mugs, and various other candle holders and some other glassware. My husband has 14 brothers and sisters and lots of nieces and nephews so it is a big undertaking. Since he is still out of work (since January) I had to budget and since I had the painting supplies and some glassware from after Christmas sales 2 years ago that was the way to go. I painted a bunch (and I mean a bunch) of things and let everyone choose what they wanted. It worked out good.
Christmas Eve we went to my brother in laws house and Christmas we went to my niece's house. Both my hubby's side of the family. After dinner at my nieces on Christmas we stopped at my brother in laws on the way home to drop off his gift. There is an ongoing issue with him and the niece who was having dinner so he didn't attend and his house is on our way home so we got to spend a little time with him and his girlfriend and her kids too. Phew! Today I thought I would be able to take it easy but nope I ended up teaching a class for a few hours today. It's all good though, I probably would have just sat around all day anyway.

Merry Christmas everyone!
Phyllis, being lucky to have one of your handpainted ornaments, I know all that wonderful things you have painted are beautiful and will be cherished by the lucky ones receiving them!
I had I minor procedure on the 23rd, so I had to pass on Christmas Eve dinner at Pat's sisters, but I insisted that Pat went and she had a wonderful time.
We had a quiet day Christmas day and a lovely Christmas brunch and dinner. This is the first year in many years that we have stayed home - it was nice.
We braved the mall and went to Crate and Barrel to pick up our leaning ladder shelves and we put them together and in place yesterday. That meant moving the stereo receiver with out disconnecting the wires - phew!!!! So 2 went in the LR and 1 went in my bedroom. The plan is to rearrange what we have not buy more 'stuff'! LOL! Mostly the sleves will house our numerous picture frames that are scattered all around.
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and stay safe on any of your travels.
Karen

Phyllis, I hope you took pictures! Susan, what a nice thing to do for your neighbor. We will need to pay for parking when we get back to VA--all $200 of it! I offered a friend $100 to take us and pick us up, but she was busy. Darn!
It sounds like a everyone had a wonderful time. We are headed out for lunch with DH's parents and then will let the kids do a bit of shopping with their gift cards. Merry Christmas!
