My recommendations would be Best Glue Ever or the Zig pen. If the cardstock is textured, sometimes the Zig pen won't hold as well as the Best Glue Ever, but on the other hand, the Zig might work better in a child's hand. (That's what I let my 5- and 7-year-old grandsons use, because it doesn't have as much risk as being messy).

I agree with Diane. If the cardstock is smooth, the Zig pens work great, otherwise, Best Glue Ever is my go to. Eco Green's white glue works well too, but the tip is kinda big for some of the tiny pieces. I'd love to see photos of her project when it's finished!! Gail

ZIg pens ........the fine tip and the squeeze and roll ......both. Best glue ever........squeezed in water bottle type plastic lid (juices, water replacement aids, water) and toothpicks or match sticks. (Kids can handle white glues better dipping small sticks into glue puddles....glues in lids help to keep it from drying out as fast and you are able to cover it with plastic wrap if a break is needed.) Just a few hints Cat

What a cute project!
I'm with Cat. If you want to keep it simple, use Elmer's glue with a toothpick. Or a glue stick. A child that young will want to gob on the glue--it's just the way they are.
If you want to get fancy, you could use a Zig or a Quickie Glue pen. But I'd keep it simple.
