it would depend on how thick the denim is. It will most likely work but you may need to roll it through 2 or 3 times to get it to cut all the way through. You would use the sandwich set-up that is used for thin metal dies. I do not have a big shot so I do not know the exact names of the platforms, etc.
I have cut felt and different kinds of fabric with spellbinders many times with the Epic and Revolution and it works great.

If you are talking about denim the same weight as we wear .... Jeans ... I wouldn't ever go that thick with a Spellbinders die. Cotton fabrics like quilting material and wool blend felts or muslin will cut fine- but thicker than that you will likely have to really shim up your cutting plate and the denim ends up being as thick if not thicker than a shim itself. Keep your denim for steel ruled dies like Tim holt dies - keep your spellbinders dies for very thin cottons and scrapy crafts felt .
(sorry for no punctuation or formatting - hahaha - I am typing on my iPad).
Wen I get home I will give some denim a demo and see if I can video it for you!

Susan is correct, as usual I had some thicker denim laying around so I tried to cut it with a Spellbinders die. It did not work I tried on the Rev, the Grand, and the Epic. I rolled it through 5 times with 2 copy paper shims and 1 cardstock shim and it cut in patches but not all the way around. I tried a Tim Holtz Sizzix die and it cut perfectly the first time. thanks for your replies... it turns out that if the weight is thinner it works but thick denim no with spellbinders or any wafer thin dies. However, sizzix dies (all kinds) cut great though. thanks again!

Eva glad you figured it out! The main thing to remember is a Sizzix die {or AccuCut} is a steel ruled die, as in blade, as in sharp, as in cut! Those things will cut through anything. Chemically etched dies {Die-Versions, Spellbinders, QuicKutz, Memory Box, etc.} are metal blanks that have been etched away, leaving the raised surface. And while I usually call them blades because that is the cutting side, they aren't blades per-se. They aren't sharp, they cut by pressure. The pressure of the rollers and/or cutting plates pushes the media into the ditches, or the grooves, and that results in a cut paper or thin fabric. blades CUT by being sharp etched lines CUT by pressure so glad you have your TH Sizzix dies to cut your denim with...!!!!
