Hi Ladies,
Haven't been on for awhile but I know I can always come get help in a pinch from all of you wonderful ladies!!! ;D ;D ;D
I am making a banner for my great niece's nursery. I have all of the banner pieces made. I am wondering the best way to attach them to keep them in place. Since this is my first time attempting this, I am looking for advice.
Thanks in advance for all of the wonderful tips I know that I will receive!!!

Hi, Cindy!! It's nice to see you again! Do your banner pieces have tabs, or are they just straight across the top? What are you stringing them on? Ribbon? Bakers' Twine? Cord? I have used ribbon, and just stapled my pieces to it. If there are tabs, I put tape on the inside and fold it over the cord, so the tabs stick in place. I've also put eyelets in the corners of the banner pieces, and strung them on Bakers Twine. If the eyelets aren't too large, they provide some "drag" and the individual pieces tend to stay in place. HTH. Gail

Gail,
They are chipboard triangles. They have holes and I was hoping to use ribbon. I don't know if I have any eyelets that are big enough to match the holes.
Any suggestions based on this information?
Thanks! Cindy

how a bout this - lay your chipboard pieces out, and then lay your cord or ribbon out above the triangles...then take additional small pieces of matching or coordinating ribbon and tie each hole to the longer main ribbon. does that make sense??? You're tying each hole to the ribbon, which hopefully will keep them from sliding all around on the main ribbon. good luck!

Cindy, other than Gail's great ideas; I have only one idea that might work. Oh how the easiest way to explain this. Depending on the size of your banners / triangles . I'm sorry I not the greatest at writing instructions out....I'm better at hands on instructing. Example: 4" to 5" across the top of the triangle take a piece of 1/2 " ribbon wrap it around a cardboard tube (paper-towel or TP) and tie a square knot leaving ribbons tails long enough to tie a bow. Tie a pretty little bow.....remove the loop from the tube.. take the loop end and pull it from the front to the back of the hole in the triangle....leaving the bow on the front of the triangle. Use double stick tape (I use Scor-Tape), hot glue or craft glue to attach the bow at pretty angle. Do all your triangles holes this way.... Next string your Triangles on your twine, ribbon or whatever you plan to use.....use double stick tape, staples (tiny attacher)....place tape between layers of the ribbon tabs close to the Twine/ ? line so your triangles don't slip /slide easily. (but leave enough play so your triangle can be adjusted after you hang it I have tied little bows on my cord if needed to keep them from slipping.) I have used different sized tubes to make ribbon loops depending on how big my triangles are or how big I wanted my loops to be. Cindy, I hope I have explained this where you can understand it If you have any questions just give me a shout..... Cat By the time I finished my instructions Susan had come on with a much simpler solution...... Good Luck Cindy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something easy that might work, Cindy, as long as the back of the banner won't be seen, is just to string your pieces on the ribbon, then tape the ribbon that lies on the back of each piece in place. Easy! ;D If the back will be visible, I like Susan's idea! Cat, I can't quite picture what you mean. I may have to actually play with it to understand... Sorry, it's been a long day, and I think I have brain burn out!! Gail

Cat i can totally picture what you're describing - and I LOVE this idea!!!! You get the added bonus of having a pretty bow or a knot on the front of each banner!!!!! Great idea... Gail she's tying around a tube {or a PVS pipe or a glue bottle or a Copic marker - based on the size of the banner pieces} - to create a LOOP. tie a knot or pretty bow - then push the LOOP through the holes in the corners of each pennant. So the LOOPS are on the back of the banner. bows on the font, loops on the back. Now take an additional, longer, piece of ribbon that will actually do the hanging - and thread the long ribbon through all of the LOOPS! maybe that makes a little better sense... it's a great idea because the loops are slidable on the main ribbon, so you can fiddle and adjust the banners once it's all hung up. GREAT technique Cat!!!

Susan, is right! Gail, I didn't think I was explaining it very well. I'm willing to bet Miss Susan has used this technique before the reason she understood my explanation It's almost second nature for me to use it. I've used this little technique over the years on all kinds of things. Shower, kitchen, bedroom curtains. Make shift room dividers. I even had buttons, flowers, beads, and etc tied in place of the bow and pulled the loop through buttonholes to attached the loops to hang my curtains or whatever. I even made a appliqued jacket (opened down the front) from a pullover sweatshirt and used this technique to make a type of closer down the center front using satin rats tail cord and large buttons on either side. I used it because I could adjust the length of my loops to match the diameter of the rods, pipes, ropes, and etc; plus it was easy to adjust my curtains, banners, room dividers on the rods. (I used a lot of flat bed sheets over the years for curtains until I could sew new or different ones) Thanks Susan for adding your explanation so it made more sense; and was easier to understand. everyone!
