I love, love, love Quickutz and have lots. (We won't think about how much I've got invested in that right now!) When I look at a die, though, I don't ever see the potential beyond the die itself. For example, Dani's seal. I look at it and think "What a cute seal, but I don't go to the circus/zoo so I don't need it." Someone else looks at it and says, "Wow! I could balance other things on its nose so it would fit all the seasons!" I'm in awe of people who can do that. And when new dies come out, I think I don't need them because I don't have a use for them right away...but wait until I see someone else's creative ideas or--heaven forbid!--it's discontinued, and I HAVE to have that die! I have a whole binder of cute things people have done with their dies. Is anyone else like me? Am I the only person who doesn't "think outside of the box" about my Quickutz?

I agree with you. I really disliked the animals when they come out. The looking thru the Quickutz and other galleries and The lion, elephant and polor bear end up in my basket and come home with me. The comes the tombstone for legs and the cat off of ebay. I have some ideas for the seal & octopus. As for the chicken he is just to cute for words.

I think we were separated at birth! This is exactly how I am too! I'm learning, but it's slow!!

I used to be like that...and can sometimes be a little more selective with "regular" dies (unless Dani sells a new release as a bundle), but if the die has the word "exclusive" on it, I can buy it within the first 5 minutes after it's released...and "need" is NOT a factor in the purchase!

I am not very creative so don't think outside the box either. When I see what others do it wow and I should have thought of that but I do not. But I do keep the ideas so that I get more out of the dies, but I do not come up with those cool ideas on my own.

I have started looking at the dies in "pieces" instead of just as a whole, especially the exclusives. Since I know they will only be available for so long, and the shape itself maybe something I don't use that often...I have to justify buying it for more than the shape it was intended for.
When I look at a die now...I look at the individual pieces and start to imagine what I can do with those shapes individually, instead of just together.
I wasn't until recently that I actually started buying more than just the basic shapes.

Thanks for mentioning it here, since I hadn't thought of that before. (I, too, don't think well outside the box, and I have no guilt from practicing "C.A.S.E." ..."Copy And Steal Everything"!)

I like that C.A.S.E. Don't they say copying someone is the greatest compliment. Or is it laziness!

I am just like the author of this thread! I am not an out of the box thinker. I see the cute ideas people have created and I get mad at myself. Like what is your problem why didn't I think of that. However in my defense I really don't have a great deal of time to PLAY. When I get scrapbooking time I have to go right to getting the pages done so I don't get further behind. Michele
