Tomorrow is the wedding of Catherine and William and DD and I will be up early to watch. We are going to be drinking tea and eating scones while we watch the wedding. Yum!
Cranberry-Lemon Scones From “A Little Northwest Cookbook” by Kathleen
2 cups flour ¼ cup sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon salt 6 tablespoons chilled butter ½ cup dried cranberries 2 teaspoons grated lemon peel 2/3 cup buttermilk 2 teaspoons milk 1 teaspoon sugar
Combine the flour, ¼ cup sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in the butter until crumbly. Stir in the dried cranberries and lemon peel. Pour in the buttermilk and stir with a fork until the mixture holds together. Gather the soft dough into a ball and gently knead a few times on a floured surface.
Pat out the dough into an 8” circle and cut into 8 wedges. Place 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet and brush the tops with the milk. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon sugar. Bake in a preheated 425 degree oven 15-20 minutes, until golden. Serve warm.

oh yummmmmmm - I don't even know what time it is on but if it's early for you it'll be wayyyy earlier for me! However, I'll likely be up all night long finishing the last 2 custom projects I have to put in the mail tomorrow, so I might just whip up a batch of these and take a "wedding break"... where should I watch it Michelle - networks or cable...and what time??? have fun girlies - don't forget to snap pictures...and for goodness sake, don't forget to teach your daughter how to hold her pinkie out properly when she's sipping tea!!

Susan, I think it starts at 1:00 a.m. "our" time, so you may still be up! Not me...that's waaaayyyy past my bedtime, or too early to wake up! I figure that there'll be plenty of reruns...all day long! And I don't think anyone will have any difficulty finding coverage on TV, since I think just about every network is covering it! Have fun, you stalwart Divas...and have a scone for me!

Michelle, Thanks for the recipe. That is definitely what my wedding watching party needs. Susan, I like NBC and the Today show, so I am watching NBC. I also have the DVR set up to record the BBC America channel of it. Why not, have the proper English presentation?! Enjoy! P.S. found a link of a timeline of events. It is Pacific Time Zone. abclocal.go.com/kabc/feature?section=news/world_news&id=8094497

I'm TiVoing both NBC (Today Show) and BBC America. Crafty Girl and I had the same idea, and we didn't even talk about it. I'm not sure which we will watch tomorrow morning. We are getting up at 5:45 to catch the family arriving. That's only 15-20 minutes earlier than normal. Not too bad. DD needs to head off to school before 7 am and I have PT in the morning, so we won't see everything. But it will be fun. What I remember most about Diana's wedding is her getting out of the coach. That veil and train were gorgeous. It certainly inspired my dress almost 10 years later--I had a long train and a cathedral length veil--but not as long as Diana's!

haha - I just remember seeing Diana come out of that glass carriage looking scared to death!! She was young and I think terrified. Remember the teasing that took place when she botched Prince Charles' name...oh goodness...it was terrible. Kate is a commoner though - so maybe she'll bring a bigger dose of reality to the royal family. I can't imagine how things are going to change for her and her family though...WOWZA! And now - at 1:22 am AZ time - I'm going to bed...

Wasn't it just days before that she found out about Camilla? Can you imagine what she was thinking?

Wasn't it just days before that she found out about Camilla? Can you imagine what she was thinking? Talk about your "marriage of convenience"...I remember Charles and Diana being interviewed (by Barbara Walters, I think), and when he was asked if he loved Diana, his answer was something like "Oh, love? I suppose so." That should have been a warning right there, but she was young and was probably getting swept along by then. How do you break off the engagement to the future king of England? It was so fairy-tale to watch, but not all fairy tales have happy endings. I wish this couple well!

Michelle, Thanks for the recipe. I didn't have cranberries, so I made lemon scones. Yummy. They went great with my cuppa tea this morning.
