Okay, hopefully this post makes logical sense, because it's 5am and I still have a couple hours of work left and I keep falling asleep standing up! I can't wait to hit the pillows this morning! So Saturday, my Copics and boy stamps and exclusive dies all showed up. I didn't even have time to open them because we had just gotten home from a wedding and I needed to put on scrubs and leave for work. Well, my scrub bottoms were in the basement so while I was getting them, I also snatched up a bunch of white paper. I then grabbed the package and left for work! By three hours into my shift, I had managed to stamp a few of each design. I was able to color almost all of them at work! I love these markers! I have been watching video after video and I can't figure out why I was so resistant to them before! I was just sitting here thinking about how I will color this other stamp. These are so much fun, and so different to work with than anything else I have used. I don't have a conversation-starting question for you all or anything. I'm just trying to stay awake lol

I put my first thing ever on my blog and as a submission for the stampy land dare that's currently going on. You can see it here www.scrapsauce.blogspot.com if you want! And, it's Copic love, not Copic skills, hahaha. I have yet to develop those like I want! Determination and practice are definitely my closest friends when it comes to blending! Have a great morning everyone, time for Nikki to catch a nap before getting Sawyer to preschool!

Is it love or an addiction Just keep playing with them..the more you color the more you learn. I keep watching videos..seems like you are never so good you can't watch them at least one more time..everyone has a a little bit different way of using them so do whatever works for you.

I find videos just as addicting, I'm always on YouTube. You'll definitely find your own style by playing w/ them more.

Thanks everyone! I have definitely watched a ton of youtube videos-they helped me determine what colors to get to start me off. And, it's love+addiction, just like all this crafting stuff! My DH actually thinks its pretty cool, too. He was encouraging me to get some markers and get going. Now he wants to know if I can make money coloring for a living (he hates that I work night shift). I told him I'd see what openings Sesame Street has. Thanks so much for taking the time to look! I'm sure I'll be coming to you all with questions as I spend time on it! And thanks to Susan for teaching me how to mask! It was so simple after watching your Tute-torial! I never went to look for a video to find out how it was done, but I always wondered how the heck that worked! In any case, before this sounds further like a Grammy acceptance speech, I've got some other posts to read haha. Thanks again

Love your card, you inspire me to get out the CC that has been behaving ( somewhat ) I just need to think what colds to add to my very very very slow growing number of Copics. I really think that by the time I invest enough to have a good range of colors the first ones I purchased when Dani first brought them to Scrapyland will be dried out even though I have never used not even 1 of them. They sit feeling unloved in a section of my desk drawer. At least they have space in the top drawer.

Get those out and start coloring like a Kindergartner! (except better!) Actually.. love that colorless blender... I DO color like a five year old but I can fix it haha.
lol Susan-just keep swimming! I can hear it so clearly.
I need to order some colors for Christmas cards next. Need some greens first I think

I took a look and I have 6. I thought that I had about 10-12! Me thinks that perhaps my money I have for crafts should be put to Copics so I can't be looking at anything else well not too much else. Perhaps I will try to purchase 10 a month from now till Christmas and still leaves a good about for other things. I usually use another brand that I like but they are always changing the colors every 6 months. Add 6-8 and retire 6-8. So I hope to be the proud owner of 46 by the end of the year. I will just have to keep track of what I have. Hey a smash book may be just the thing?

You could buy 2-3 Copics for the price of a Smash book, hahaha, but that would be one way to use it! I am in full support of building up a good Copic inventory!! I have a very basic 20, mostly skin colors and shadow colors. I keep coloring yellow shirts on my characters because the ones I picked for blonde hair are just too bright! So everyone's got brown hair and yellow clothes for now. Oh well, I will add gradually too!
Thanks, Cat! The countless videos I watched were such a big help! I know I will be referring to them again and again.

you all know my Copic rules on picking new colors... • light, light, LIGHT. Pick a color you want/need and then go lighter! • try and purchase in pairs {B00 and B02} trios are better, but pairs work fine too with a little practice! • Sketch vs Ciao 98% equal, but Ciaos are cheaper! Start cheaper! • practice practice practice!!! • you're your own toughest critic - the one drawback to watching videos on YouTube is we tend to compare...unless you are mailing your cards to those artists...don't worry about it. Color, learn from the experience, make a card with the image and MAIL IT! the recipient will love it - and I promise you they won't judge any part of your skills! • Copics can color paper, buttons, brads, flowers, cardstock, die-cut edges, metal embellishments, etc. Use 'em!!

I color all my own gems now. Just buy the clear ones and color to fit my card or page. Works great.

I have almost all the colors now I think of the copics, lol. I have been practicing for months and have read and watched other people and read what they used on their stamped images. I also write down what colors they used for hair and face so I get different types of colors to use for myself. I then perfect it for my taste. I think I've come up with 2 new hair colors just by doing that, lol. Sometimes it's best to start out light to dark and then go back to light again but it just depends on the color. I will be posting some new ones Fri, Sat, Sun, so let me know what you think. miislucky.blogspot.com I will probably be on Scrapy Land's fri dare day too so I hope everyone else will join us this week. I'm really loving it, Susan!!!

well HI Miss Mimi!!!!! Your advice is wonderful - it's the same thing I say over and over to Copic lovers...practice, practice, play some more, and then practice again! Sometimes the mess-ups and boo boos produce the best discoveries! I love just playing with the colors and the layering and the techniques! I just did a card last week that had a big teddy bear for the image, I pulled out my terrycloth and blending solution. I LOVE that look of that! The fur that results is just adorable!!!! Keep at it - there are NO mistakes!!! Anything that I don't like, I usually send to a close family member - they don't notice!!! LOL

Miislucky, welcome to the Message Board. You are right, playing with the copic pens are the best way to learn. I find it relaxing actually to color.
Would love to see what your 2new hair colors loo like.
I just popped over to your blog and wanted to congratulate you on having your card published!
Susan, so right, sending a card to friends and neighbors make them happy and they typically never notice (or mention) our mistakes.
