I am in the market for a Quickutz Tool. For those that don't know, I had a house fire back in February of 2010 and I haven't scrap ever since. I lost everything that was in the house to the fire (didn't had renters insurance unfortunately) but my pictures and lots of my scrapbooking supplies were in a separate paid storage, so that was the only thing that survive (because of that, I have never allowed myself to cry about it). Anyways, long story short, at this point I have no idea what I have or what I don't as far as scrapbooking supplies (hoping and praying that I still have that nutcracker die we designed for the SL 1st design team) so I am thinking of buying a new tool. I know *think* that I still have a QK silhouette that I bought but never even opened and I know for a fact that I still have a NIP package Cricut machine as well as tons of QK dies 4x4 and 2x2. Anyways, what tool should I buy, and why?

Virginia, I'm so sorry to read about your house fire! It's a great lesson to all of us to keep our treasured keepsakes in a place where they will suffer the least damage. As for "replacement" tools, I think that you might want to wait to see how the new Lifestyle Crafts "Evolution" performs. If it gets positive reviews from users, that might be the way to go. In the meantime, I've sent you a pmail.

I'm am so sorry to read about your house fire too!
I also agree on the Evolution. I think that would be your best bet. The new cutting mat sounds wonderful!
Good luck in what ever you decide.

Oh my goodness!! That is so awful!! I hope you are adjusting well and all were/are ok.
I have the Revelution machine and I love it!!! As I am sure you already know they have stopped making that one. The Evolution looks to be a good choice, but like Diane said, you may want to wait and see how it performs. The Epic had many problems in the beginning (I also have the Epic and after some service, it is ok)
I hope you are able to get back scrapping again, Cindy

Thanks ladies. That's why I never got into the Epic, because I remember that at first it was an epic failure lol. I loved the Revolution and how good and "grown-up" it look (I am not even sure if that was pack in the boxes that survived since I haven't scrapbook ever since, but I wouldn't mind buying a second one for my 8 y.o dd that also likes scrapping (i am getting a good deal in one, but I am not sure if I should go for it). When is the Evolution coming out? and, what sizes it will cut? Thanks ladies again

Virginia, I am so sorry to hear about your house fire...I can only imagine how devastating that must have been! I can be no help with the machine part. I use a Big Shot. And I have a Wishblade original that has, like your silhouette, NEVER been out of its shipping box! Shame on me! I am waiting to see the user reviews, too....I have been burned too many times with 'new' creations. I also have my eye especially on the Evolution! Wouldn't it be great if you could go to a lss and try out all the machines before making your choice! Best wishes with whatever you end up getting!

oh Virginia what a story - lucky for you to have your pictures stored elsewhere!!! Glad the only thing lost was supplies - because let's face it , as attached to the paper and pretties as we are, it's only things. You don't have on your list the new Evolution - and I think that is the route I would go if I was going to stick with the QK brand. I played with it quite a bit at CHA and was thoroughly impressed with its compatibility. Other than a QK machine I would highly recommend the Vagabond - LOVE it to pieces. I don't think I"d personally go back to a Rev only because of the size of the platform - 4" is pretty limiting now-a-days. But I still have one in the closet for when I want to magnet things down - LOL!!! good luck in starting the new stash!!!

Hi Virginia, sorry to learn of your misfortune. I love my revolution and found one on clearance and took it south to the hacienda. I also purchased the sizzix Vintaj like the big shot, I really like it for all my wide and long dies, love making the bakery boxes with it and the pizza box on it too

I remember having a 4x12" cutter for my revolution. Am I wrong??? Also, when is the evolution going to be released?
I have tons of Sizzix and Sizzlits dies but I also think that I still must have two big sizzix original cutter as well as the sidekick so I should be fine with that. I don't really like sizzix dies because they are not as detailed as LC and I have to cut and layer too many times to get the look of a single cut in QK so I mainly use them to cut chipboard and fabric.

Dani has the Evolution listed as in stock right now Cindy Sometimes (but not always) "In Stock" means that you can order it, although if it's a new item, it may not actually be in Dani's warehouse. If an item is marked "Out of Stock", then the website won't let you place an order. It took me a long time, and several explanations from Dani ( ;D) to figure this out!

I have experienced that too, I just get too excited to get the goodies that I fail to read the fine print The Evolution is listed in the New Arrivals list so doesn't that mean it is actually "in stock"?? I could be wrong Cindy

Haven't used the Evolution myself but have heard good things about it. The Epic 6 was a good idea, but the machine itself was a fail. LOL I sold mine before something else broke!

Now that I actually have the Evolution in my house, I will say that I really do like it...a lot! It doesn't weigh a ton if you need to move it from place to place. It cuts cleanly, even very detailed dies (e.g. DV Whispers), on the first pass through. If a new tool is in your future, I'd recommend this one!
