I am trying to be cautiously optimistic that Lifestyles/QK will come back to the forefront-- I was so sad when Dani took QK off his normal product lineup. Just hoping for the best!

Does that include the Silhouette or is the a separate company. To be honest I was looking at all my old QK dies and wondering if I still really need them. Wondering in general if electronic die cutters are going to replace the steel ones, especially if they get cheaper to purchase.

I'm pretty sure that Silhouette branched off into a separate company- wouldn't be surprised if the buyout might have included purchasing Silhouette of America (I think that was the name given to the company). I'm too much of a fuddy dud to try an electronic cutter. I know they have way more images/sizing etc. for benefits but I do too much cropping outside of my small house. And with all the $$$ I have tied up in all my dies, there is no way I'll ever get rid of them. I don't have daughters & the way my sons are going, unlikely to have a "crafty" dil. Two dear friends have daughters I'll likely bequeath all my craft items to so they can have all the fun of deciding to keep or sell on ebay.

I believe that Silhouette is still a separate company, but Dani will know for sure. I purged an enormous amount of QK dies a year ago, and have never missed them. That said, I have a respectable collection of Die-Versions, which I am not going to give away any time soon! As for the electronic cutters...I haven't convinced myself that I would use one enough to make it worth the $$$$...yet!

Silhoeutte is a totally separate entity for a while now. I sure hope WeR knows how to manage the QK brand better. I decided to stop selling QK due to many issues which happened way too often under previous management. Some QK will be coming back in about 2 weeks, mostly Nesting dies for now. I just feel that with so many die companies out there these days, QK designs were nothing special if you know what I mean

Hopefully they'd get their * together and hired back some of the original creative designers, otherwise I pass.

Hi, I have just bought the original blue hand tool off ebay and I need to start a die collection. I am in the UK and wondering if one can use sizzix or any spellbinders dies (less than 2" square I think but have not received tool yet)? I need to make some wedding cards and floral and lace and seaside themes would be nice. Its a shame memory keepers haven't re-introduced a range yet but I need to get these started.

I've never tried, but I think it won't be easy. I have two die-cutting 'machines': the blue hand tool and the Cuttlebug. I'm using my Cuttlebug for spellbinder dies, most of the dies I have are larger dan 2 inch square. And: with the Cuttlebug you can see on which part of the paper you die-cut. I'm not using my blue hand tool very often. The Cuttlebug is my favorite die-cutting machine. You can use dies with a different thickness with it: you just have to make a perfect sandwich with the diecutting plates or with some cardstock and the plates.

Maybe I don't need other dies as managed to get some quickutz dies off Ebay. My hand tool arrived today, along with the few dies I 'won' on Ebay. It is SO good! I am addicted already. Its such a lovely tool to use, the cradle balances it perfectly and once I got the technique right of pressing quickly and firmly till the handles met, I was in full production. I have doves, bells, vines and tags so now to design a card. This is fun! I can't believe its old and out of production. I think mine is going to be an heirloom so I need to collect more dies, starting with flowers and hearts...off to look on Ebay.

Hi Gabriella: UNfortunately you won't be able to use Sizzix dies with the QK tool because Sizzix are bigger dies and they are made of thick plastic so it won't fit in the tool. You need to be in the lookout for Wafer-thin dies such as spellbinders, quickutz and cottage cutz.
