We had a quick change of weather and while I went out for a few hours it started Thunder and lightening. We're signing off for awhile!
I just heard on the news, 2 older men were struck by lightening 30 miles south of me. The were standing under a big fir tree talking about landscaping.
rule 1 that I was always taught - never stand under trees during a lightening storm.
Have a good nite, don't know if I'l be on until tomorrow.

Thanks! they've subsided and I'm back!
Sadly 2 houses in my area were hit by lightening and caught fire too!
We sure had really wacky weather today. Yesterday we had a record and were in tripple digits - 101, but the humidity was something else today, even though it was around 39%, it sure felt like I was down in the jungle!

Wow, I 'm glad all is fine Cheryle in your area. We were suppose to get some of that rain, but it totally missed us.
We haven't had rain in a long time. Wish it would rain even if it were just a little.
Glad your fine.

OH that's scary. My co-worker came on Friday and said that his neighbor's house (two houses away) caught fire. Scary.

Isn't that scary? When the firetrucks pulled up next door last month, we couldn't believe it! good thing it was only the microwave!
When we were stationed in Elizabeth City NC, I remember hearing lightening strike a tree between our house and the neighbors house and it literally splintered and fortunate for us and unlucky for our neighbor, the splinters hit their house - Good thing they were away on vacation!
The storms have passed today. One of the men is still in critical condition and the other in serious.

Oh Cheryle I am pleased that you are okay. I hope that the 2 homes in your neighbourhood no one was hurt and they have a place to sleep. How awful. Laura. Please keep us updated about the families if you are able. Laura. <><

That does sound really seriously Luckely we don't have problems of that grade overhere, but when we were in America two years ago and slept in a Motel, we were in the middle of a big storm. Within a few minutes lot's of people came to stay safe in the Motel. Trees were blowing against the ground, it was really scary, never saw it before!!! The other day we heard that there was a lot of damage, on the airport some airplanes lost their wings

I don't think it gets as bad as that in the UK! I always remember being in Monument Valley tribal park, Utah in the middle of a thunder storm and that was really frightening - it felt like the lightening was just above our heads. We were staying in Goulding's Lodge and there was a power cut and we were left in the pitch dark. They were handing out little pumpkin shaped candles. It was in September/Octpber, so I guess that was all they had available! We had so many hiccups on our US trips, which made it so much more memorable! ;D

Cheryle... I'm so sorry that you're getting the thunderstorms that were aimed at us! We haven't had any rain since February, which explains all of the fires around us (most now contained at 20%, so the foothills are still at risk, and there are a lot of people who have been evacuated to shelters for over a week, now). My daughter who lives in Redmond, WA, said it was 99 degrees there yesterday...almost unheard of...and there were storms there, too. Please stay very, very safe! (And I hope your notebook comes back healthy, too!)

I have no idea that houses could catch fires with thunderstorms...then again, there are so many things that I don't know. My co-worker's neighbor's house was a five family's house and he said that thankfully there was no one in the house, but the house suffered a lot of damage.

Cheryle - How frightening! We had a storm last night. Even when I sleep through it, my daughter is like a lightening detector and appears by my bed in a second. That is very scary when it hits so close. I remember one year, lightening hit a tree between my house & my neighbors. I gratefully wasn't home, I don't know how I'd feel now during storms if I had been. Keep safe!
