It is very simple, they probably did it in the edit profile function there is a button that says
"Stay Invisible" : NoYes Choosing "Yes" will make it so that you are not listed as online except to staff members.
I rather be visible, that's part of the fun to see who's in at the same time.

This might sound funny but I still have no idea what you are referring to regarding an invisible user. Where do you see that there is someone invisible on the board? Or is it just a joke?

Sometimes it shows that there is an invisible user online. They have choosen not to be seen when they are reading the board.

They are there, in the first page of the message board BEFORE you get here, in the part where it says GENERAL board. Look at the bottom of the page and sometimes there is the invisible user (for real). ;D S/He is in right now.
