Thought this was cute because I'm always asked what I do all day because I'm a SAHM. Maybe I should do this to some of those people. The question is: What Do Retired People Do All Day? Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting. Well, for example, the other day my wife and I went into town and went into a shop. We were only in there for about 5 minutes. When we came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. We went up to him and said, 'Come on man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?' He ignored us and continued writing the ticket. I called him a Nazi turd. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn tires. So my wife called him a shit-head. He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket.. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more we abused him, the more tickets he wrote. Personally, we didn't care. We came into town by bus. We try to have a little fun each day now that we're retired. It's important at our age.

Hi Christine, Good one!!!!! I am a SAHM too and since I like to craft some people used to say things like I had too much time on my hands. But when they needed something made they sure knew who to come to. Maybe I should do this to some of them. Only kidding. Phyllis

I resigned from my job, and refused to use the word "retired", because I was too young to retire. I'm amazed at how many people think that I have nothing to do all day...I wonder how they think the laundry gets done, or the house stays relatively clean, etc. Besides, how would I get to spend any time on this MB??? ;D

Although I'm in receipt of a pension I'm not a pensioner, so I guess that (as well as my age) means I'm not retired yet....... The pension I get is a Widow's one - but unfortunately it started paying out at the same time as I lost my job, so it's the only income I'm guaranteed between now and Jan 2026 when the first of my own pensions starts paying out !!! According to the government I'm not unemployed either!! This is because I still have a 'child' (he's almost 18) below a certain level of education, so they pay me some extra money to make up for the loss of my husband's income. However, I lose this one in the summer of 2010 - which is when my son is due to move on up to University. So I guess I'm really classed as a SAHM just now - though with my youngest being almost 18 I'm not really needed at home anymore But I'm making the most of not having to go out to work at the moment (though the extra cash would be nice if I could get a job during this recession) by looking after my grand-daughters either end of school, which also makes life a lot easier for my daughter who works full-time and struggled with child-care once the elder one started school. It means I'm spending a lot more time with them without 'Mummy' than I used to - and as I only have them school term time it means I get 13 weeks holiday a year ;D Other than that I shop, I cook, I clean, and I'm trying to do a major dejunk of the house contents - which isn't getting done very quickly as I'm to easily distracted by the many forums (crafting and otherwise) I'm a member of Oh, and I help out in the pre-school class for 2.5hrs on a Monday morning - something I'll probably continue doing even after my younger grand-daughter moves up a year in September.
