1 lb butter 1 cup minus 2 TBSP sifted icing sugar (confection sugar) 2 TBSP light brown sugar 4 cups flour Glazed cherries - cut in quarters
Blend butter and sugars throughly. Stir in flour and mix well with hands. (I use my Kitchen Aid mixer - dough hook - or food processor)
Cover & chill 1 hour. Shape into small balls (the size of generous large melon baller). Press with floured fork and decorate with glazed cherry.
Bake in 300 degree oven for 20 - 30 minutes. (my oven is 28 - 33 minutes) Cookies should just be golden on the bottom but not brown.
This was my Mom's Recipe and I grew up with these and have made them every Christmas since I left home.
