Oh yeah, I LOVE this song.... ..."I was working in the lab, late one night - When my eyes beheld an eerie sight - For my monster from his slab began to rise - And suddently to my surprise...HE DID THE MASH, he did the Monster Mash - the Monster Mash, it was a graveyard smash"... Hmmm...I need to go and turn the music up!!!

Uhhh, that's gonna be difficult. It happenes to be the week before my scrapbook retreat weekend, so I actually should be cooking ahead for the family and making up page kits You could do the crockpot meals while you're making up the page kits, then pop them (the food, that is! ;D) in the freezer...your family could just pull out the one they want, warm it up, and know that you're out having fun at your retreat! Just a thought...

Crafty.....and most certainly plotting.. ..But sneaky is not one of the things you ladies are up to. Susan's Monster Mash is playing loudly enough to hear across the states....emmmmmm what are these ladies brewing? Maybe a little spider web tea? Along with some lime green (jello) popcorn balls....and pink lady fingers...paper candy corn mmmmmmm. Guess we will have to watch them like hawks. cat

Ok, let me say this. You DO NOT need an excuse to make dinner in the crockpot. Crockpot food is real food! DO NOT give my family the impression that I'm slacking off. I'm simply giving them some of their favorite foods. And preparing them when it's convenient for me (when they are at school) and then I'm free to do the homework thing instead of making dinner. It's win win for everyone!
Maybe we need some recipes added to the recipe section. Try Susan's French Dip. Yummy! If you want to do a roast, just use a different cut of meat and add potatoes and carrots. It's so versatile! Then you have beef for Beef Barley Soup. Double Yum!

You'll NOT hear me making an excuse! I have one 3 to4 qt. crockpot and two 6 qt crockpot. One little dipper and a large electric roasting pan. I have at times used them all at the same time. These tools have been my best friends at times. Large family get togethers call for these handy little cookers. When I make red beans (pinto beans) I make both 6qt crockpots full. (lucky the lids lock down when traveling) I take one all but running over to work along with heaping baskets of skillet cornbread. I come home with a empty crockpot and baskets. Lucky I have an extra pot full at home. The same happens if I make soups or stews. They also make our holiday meals a little better not the mention safer...most of our holiday meals are buffet because of people who have to work. We also have extras (people who have no family or who are away from their families) drop by for a great meal and company. Crockpot food is Real food. (if it "ain't" don't tell people around here!) y'all are making me hungry!!!
one of our fave crock pot meals is High-Y Loose Meat Sandwiches.
aka Sloppy Joes.
Served with mustard and pickels on cheapie white hamburger buns - ohmygosh - hungry just thinking about them!! It's a recipe from my grandmother - my dad and uncle lived on it. High-Y was their small Nebraska hometown's version of the YMCA...and they went there almost every day after school. The "pub" or snack-bar served these sandwiches and they were a staple of their childhood. When my dad and my uncle got married - my grandma tracked down the cook from the High-Y and bribed her! LOL The recipe is treasured in my family now!
will share as we get closer to October 4th - it's a less tomatoey-more-vinegary sloppy joe...with not as many veggies. Tangy and tart - served with pickles on top and mustard.
YUMMM-OH!

I made sloppy joes last week when it was rainy and cold. Yum! Make double and you can freeze half--it's a quick meal.
I make mine the Minnesota way--very tomato-y. In fact, I use ketchup. Yep, in MN we cook with ketchup. It works well in hot dishes!
Susan, when you post yours I'll make both and I'll do a taste test with the family. Just be sure to serve it with potato chips. It's the one and only meal when I serve pot chips. In fact, the kids add them to the sandwich. It's a nice crunch!

OK, ladies, I'm drooling right now! Better post those Crock-pot recipes soon. I've got 2 of the 6qt, and a little dipper. Crock pot meals are the best! Nothing like coming home from work to delicious kitchen aromas, and nothing to be done but have a glass of wine and dish it up! YUM. Can't wait to see your recipes. As for OSST, well just stay tuned! Maybe Susan will share her recipe for crock-pot "Monster Mash"! But you won't regret planning crock-pot meals or take-out for that week, I guarantee it! If the family gets whiny, tell them to do their own cooking! Gail

I have some of the black Magnetic Binders for my cookie cutter dies. I ended up with some of the white ones because I was desperate for some place to put my dies. Well I really didn't care for the white ones because they get to looking so dirty. I decided to clean them and stamp on them. Not only do I like them better but I can remember what is in them better. They don't look as bad as plain white. On one I used a dragonfly and repeatedly stamped in brown ink. I made look like a back ground stamp was used. Some dragonflies are darker than others and over lap in some places. I plan on stamping on the black binders with something that will show up. White, silver. cat
