I have always been a quickutz fan since they came out on the market. Squeeze tool & 2 inch dies first love, then came the Revolution & 4 inch dies made my imagination go wild. The Epic wasn't my favorite tool (yet) but..... Oh the 6 inch dies were to "die" for. (pun was intended). I'm a person who has to be able to see a lot of different uses for something before I buy it. I want to get my money worth from all my tools, dies and supplies. Some might even call me a tight wad LOL and they might be right. I call it being careful with my money. Some might say we grew-up poor....(we didn't know it).... but I did learned to look at everything in different ways for its usefulness. That's the reason I started this new thread. I loved the Paisley bird when it was released but I've never been really crazy about paisley prints or anything. I wanted the bird, but couldn't see any other way of using it. Just wasn't working. Then in steps Michelle with her double dip creations...well I love flowers and pinwheels and a few more ideas pop to mind.....This last Friday both Paisley birds came to live at my house. Yes...as soon as I seen Michelle's creative uses I went straight to SL and placed an order. I just placed an order for the branches and flowery plants dies. All of the different DT ideas seemed to have jump started my imagination again. ( I call it stress blocks) I didn't earn double-dips, but I have double-dipped my CC this month.LOL Cat

That has happened to me a few times watching Susan and the DT ladies. They take something I did not see a use for and "Bang" they show me how they used it then I had to have it. LOL Dani's QK sale has started more creative ideas flowing too.

Awwww! Cat and Dawn, you guys are just too sweet! Now I'm really scared that I'm expected to come up with something truly innovative with each project! Yikes! But I too was so inspired by all of the Double Dip projects. I put several of them in my idea file! It was such a fun week with everyone chiming in and sharing ideas. And I love how many Diva's learned to add photos and avatars to their siggy lines! I love to see what others are doing and to put my own spin on the idea. That's what I truly love about the MB and especially the Blog--there are so many great ideas and it really gets the creative juices flowing! Michelle

I agree. Even when I can't afford to buy the dies right now, just seeing how certain dies can be used in different ways makes me look at ALL my dies in a different light. It's a wonderful addiction hobby to have!

No stress... just fun!

Michelle Just like Michelle, I love to see what creativity takes place on the MB and the blog...and it saves my own brain cells for "later". I'm not sure my CC loves it so much, since I nearly always have a few "why didn't I get THAT earlier?" moments! ;D

No expectations Michelle!!! Please don't let what I wrote stress you. I never want people to feel stressed. Stress blocks creative juices and the imagination. ( I know from experience) I just loved the paisley bird. It looked so happy. But like I said paisley is one of the few prints I've never learned to like. I love the shape but when you add the other stuff with one ....yikes. It's just not appealing to me. I couldn't see another use for the happy little bird.....Your ideas was just what I needed to see out side the box. (stress keeps a person from seeing out side the box...you helped me to understand that...I will rid myself of stress by taking time to be creative) cat

Thanks guys! It is really fun--I promise! Right now, I have TONS of ideas swimming in my head. DH and I (finally!) watched the last four episodes of Brothers and Sisters last night. Yep, from April and May. We've had a busy summer... Anyhoo, I was just cruising blogs and such while watching TV and I came up with so many fab ideas. The kiddies go back to school on Wednesday and then mama can play! Michelle

Cat, I started with the blue squeeze, then the pink squeeze, I only bought the 2x2's even when the 4x4 came out. Then I bought the Revolution and platform and then I started to buy the 4x4's. I love the innovation's people come up with. I have even surprised myself like Michelle did. Just had a stack of leftover die shapes in different colors and you see a different shape. Try cutting them all in black or white and just lay all the different pieces in front of you and don't think which die it is. Then turn them upside down and you see another shape. Innovation really is fun. Dani's sale really helped fill in alot of holes I had in my collection so can't wait to receive my order. Deborah Keizer

Deborah Keizer I did the same thing, starting with the 2x2's and 2 squeezes. Then the Rev came along, so of course I "advanced" to 4x4's; the Epic...uh...FORCED me to buy 6x6's, and with the Spellbinders' Grand Calibur coming, where will it all end? And I really like the idea of using black and white and playing with the shapes!

Sometimes I will see something else by accident...either the piece gets flip over or gets mixed in where it doesn't belong. Lo and behold there's something totally new.
Sometimes I just look at a die and see something totally different. It's just there. Like the silly layer cake (wedding cake?) Most people see cake; not me I see Black & pink felt ladies hats. The stand turned into a mirror and hat stands. Never was it a cake for me. LOL
Mostly I just play around with the different pieces and see what I can come up with. Sort of a one person game. I haven't spent much time lately playing my game.....but that is changing....

I like that idea too- cutting out the shape in black and then see what comes from it. I also want to challenge myself with using my LEAST favorite die- you know the die that came in a set or one you bought because it was on sale but didn't really have a use for it (am I alone??) ... and see if I can change my opinion about it... Cindy PS- I also LOVE QK

Cindy, You are not alone. I ended up with the egg timer and skillet out of one set. I've used the skillet as a magnifying glass and a mirror but never as a skillet. The egg timer has been a radio and alarm clock never an egg timer. cat

You guys have great ideas! Love, love, love the idea of cutting in black and white. We all have tons of white copy paper laying around! The skillet as a magnifying glass--love it! DD was in a Nancy Drew book club and I have some Nancy Drew pictures somewhere that it would be perfect for. And I have that cake die--hats you say?
I started with the squeeze. I bought it with an alphabet off of E for almost nothing. Then they dropped the Rev price. The smartest thing I ever did was buy the 12" platform! Then the Epic. Well, I still use the Rev more than anything, but I use the Epic with the embossing folders--I don't want to stress the Rev's gears!

Michelle I do the very same thing, I use my Epic for all my embossing. I have two Revolutions and so far they both work fine but I don't want to break a gear. I have one Rev set up to use for 2x2's and one with my platform in it . So I don't have to take out the small platform to use. Sometimes I just want something small on my desk so I don't use the long platform. When they sold for $20 I got two and gave one to my daughter. So I actually have access to three and I am so happy as I love my Revolution. I still hope they get someone to make gears. I love that it is magnetized. Deborah Keizer

Michelle, it's not card stock. It really is felt. Yes, I have cut felt with my QK dies....along with fun foam....fabric.....etc. Yes it is the cake die! Dani still had this die for sale when I last looked.loohttp://i316.photobucket.com/albums/mm329/scrapyland/smiley/smilelol.gif[/IMG] Cat

JUST AN FYI: Please use caution if you decide to cut different materials. I make sure the felt and fun foam are very very thin and remove the foam from the dies. (about the thickness of the foam on the dies) I never ever force the sandwich through my machines. (A least not since I broke my first set of gears on the Revolution) Cat PS Yes it is a cake die; and Dani still had it for sale when I last looked.

Great advice, Cat! Yep, I cut all sorts of stuff with my dies. When in doubt, I use my Epic! Gotta protect those precious Rev gears! And I have to say, I'm not much of an Epic fan. But it sure chunks through any material I put it through with no signs of the gears giving out. I've got to admit that!
Foam cuts really, really well. I was a Girl Scout leader when we lived in Virginia and we make these things called SWAPS. Basically small little crafty things that the girls can pin to a sash, vest, hat, backpack, strap of some sort. My girls loved getting the SWAPS, didn't love making them. Somehow using a die cutter made the projects much more fun!

Oh!!! now I'm jealous.. ...I'd love to had Quickutz to help me out with projects when I was a Girl Scout Leader. Making starters for 20 to 25 little girls was really time consuming. We had 7 troops of different aged girls with only 1 leader per troop. I know the other leaders would have loved it too!!! cat

Cat, we did it the old fashioned way, too. My co-leader was a vet and had tons of vials from immunizations. She pulled the metal band off the top, autoclaved them and the girls filled them with colored sand. What a mess! They were very creative, but we had to make 200 of them. UGH!

Okay it looks like our design team is wanting us to save the date : Oct. 4-8 for the O.S.S.T. Well I have the dates marked off. It is a Monday-Friday. Now what are we going to do? Is this another guessing game. I am not good at guessing but I do have fun taking part in what you all plan. Deborah Keizer
