I was flipping through a card magazine and I came across "Sarah Kay Stamps" I thought they were nice.
I was wondering what you and everyone else thought about them.

I personally like them a lot. I have a few of her stamps from Stampavie. Truth be told Stampavie in general hasnt sold as well as other brands. However her stamps are from the ones that move the most.

If she is the one that has Josephine gathering Vegetables; and one with a little boy and another with a little girl both have watermelons. (Looks like maybe a heart with SK in it) Then I love her stamps...... I also love the Bildmalarna Stamps with Mimosa, Mimo, and Tossa. Cat

I like the designs a lot BUT I am not a real fan of the clear stamps. That is what holds me back from ordering more of these.

Several of those stamps make me think of Holly Hobby designs. My daughters loved H.H. when they were young!
Dani, if you're going to carry more of the Sarah Kay line through Stampavie, I'd definitely be ordering some of them!

That is what holds me back from ordering more of these. susie while I'll use either - I would PREFER red-rubber, cling mounted stamps. And Dania, the main reason being the stamped image's clarity or preciseness. Since clear acrylic has some "smoosh" to it - you can easily get too agressive with the stamp and get lines that are bit thicker, uneven or messy. Red rubber it takes a LOT of pressure to do that. Usually I just remind myself to go easy, when using clears, but I still almost always do a test stamp just to get the right pressure behind it. Other than that - I'd say all things are equal. But like I said, if I had to choose - I'd usually pick a red-rubber over a clear. Bummer for me, there are some darn cute clears out there!

i agree about the clear stamps susan... i get so frustrated with the uneveness of acrylic stamps and when they smoosh i could throw them out the window. LOL. I love red rubber for their even stamping images.

Amen, Susie, Susan, and Twinkles! I have both, but much prefer rubber - it makes the best impression. Gail

Dania, Other people have no problem getting good impressions but like the others who responded I don't get as good an impression. The lines don't seem as smooth to me. Because I am more of a card maker than a scrapper I find I love the rubber! It used to be that unmounted & cling mounts were 1/2 to 1/3 cheaper than the wood mounts. The other day I gasped when I picked up a Hero cling mount that was the same price as the wood mount. It seems like they are raising the prices way too high! But i do like many of the designs clear designs... The photopolymer clear stamps are supposed to be the best. So, don't be swayed by any of us as the majority of people love the clear images as you know where to stamp it. smiles, susie

I know that the purists like their "red rubber" stamps, but I'll have to admit, I just use whatever I think is cute. I don't do a lot of stamping and I like cling mount stamps because they store in less space.
So, for me, cute wins over anything else!

I think it depends on the ink you're using as well. I used BG clear stamps with chalk inks yesterday and got great results, but I don't like how they stamp with dye inks, especially distress pads. Just looks splatchy and uneven (way more than an intended distressed look)

I have a few photopolymer stamps that I have gotten here from Dani and I don't have a problem with those. Thank you everyone for your input. Being new to stamping I'm curious to hear everyone's experience.

Clear stamps (not sure about red rubber) have a sort of coating on them when they arrive. Before I use the stamps for the first time, I clean them, ink them up a few times and clean them again. Then I stamp my final image. I think they leave a much cleaner line this way.
HTH!

Michelle thanks for the idea to clean the rubber first. Never thought of that. I prefer rubber to but once in awhile even they don't work the way I want. I just realized my well worn ones do work better so I am going to clean them a few times like you said and stamp. I get in a hurry and just want to stamp and move on. Guess I better slow down and this will help me get a good impression next time. Deborah
