I saw this last night on QVC and thought of getting it for my dad for Christmas(qvc had the newer black version). Went to BedBath and Beyond and saw they had the original version (white one) at the store and I had a 20% off coupon for it making it $135 (from $170)....I have read some reviews that are not so flattering so wanted to get some opinions before I think about returning it....Have you used one??? My dad is an avid reader so while this thing does alot of techy stuff he would like the reader part of it...Any reviews or opinions?

Sorry I can't help.....have only heard my son recommend a Kindle to some people and I don't know his reasons; other than that I'm clueless. Cat

I'm not familiar with the Pandigital Novel. But I'm seriously lusting after the Nook. I like the touch screen and have you seen the Kate Spade covers? And it has WiFi capabilities. Diane, time to rev up on that bank robbery plan again! Michelle

I received the kindle when they first came out as a christmas gift --- I love it !!!! the only problem i have had with it is when I go to Canada I cant connect with the wifi so I just make sure I have books downloaded to read before I go there. Now I received a nook from my love as a surprise and I love it tooooo they both have great options and anyone who loves to read will love an ereader - you can get books within a couple of seconds to read and you can subscribe to news papers and blogs. the plus about the nook is that you can go into any Barnes & Nobel and sit there and read books for free plus on Fridays they have special downloads --- you can try out samples of books on both ereaders to see if you want to purchase them. The prices are very comparable on both and now Borders has a couple of ereaders but I know nothing about those.

One thing to consider that is a biggie for me--do you currently buy books or get them from the library? If you are currently buying books, whatever model you choose won't make much of a difference. But if you get most of your books from the library, the Nook may be your best choice. They have certain book downloads for free on Fridays and you can download books from the library with ePub. It's all in the coding. But it's harder to share books with the Nook. Some publishers allow a 14 day loan, but it depends on the book. And it's a one time loan only. I Googled the Pandigital and found that it has a color screen. My biggest concern would be how easy that is to view in daylight. So I would do some searching on that. I hear that with the iPad, it's hard to read books in the sun. That with the Nook and Kindle the words sort of "sit" on the top of the screen and you can read it easier. That would be a big thing for me, as I can't see my camera LCD at times in the sun. HTH! Michelle
