don't even know if this exists - but I figured it's worth a few lines of typing to find out. We're headed to CA this weekend - my girlfriend and I are following the bus of marching band kids over for a Saturday competition in Riverside. We were planning to tag along to Disney with the kids on Friday - but our ticket connection {my girlfriend's niece who works in the park} just found out she's got a test on Friday and won't be at work, hence she can't use her passes for the day! I'm totally bumming - especially when I found out that tickets for single day to Disney are $78?!?!?!? The kids don't get to the park until 4pm on Friday - and their time to back on the bus is 10pm - TOTALLY CRAZY for the b and to pop for that many tickets for the band kids for only 6 hours...but they didn't ask my opinion! LOL Anyway - does anyone know - do discounted tickets exist for Disney? It doesn't look like they do a "late entry" discount, or anything like that! We've got our hotel reservations, tickets to the competition on Saturday and we're all set. Except for the darn tickets to Disney!! SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT - I hate it when plans change. Any suggestions GREATLY appreciated!

Try AAA if you are a member. I believe that they offer discounted tickets.
I know that they do for Disney World in Florida.

AAA, Costco, Sams, etc. all sell the 2-day park hoppers. Seems to be that single day entry tickets for one park are only available at the park! LOL - guess us single-day users are in the minority! LOL thanks Cindy!

Any chance that your hubby is prior military? I think there are some discount passes for retirees and I can check on that easily tomorrow. If you know anyone who is active duty, they get in free once per year and I believe dependents are $40 for their tickets. I know there are Disney message boards. Maybe someone has a suggestion? Is it possible for the school to get a few more tickets for family? That's all I've got. Michelle

good suggestions Michelle - but no dice! And we've just let this go so long!
We were ALL SET with this gal who is doing a semester-long internship - so we hadn't even looked at making a plan "B". Oh well - might just have to hang out extra long at the outlet malls - and then go a day later for the competition!
Such is life - luckily it was just me and my girlfriend - there weren't any kids involved that had their hearts set on a view of Disney in Christmas-mode!
THANKS!

Do you know any local travel agents? Maybe they would have a connection for less expensive tickets. Or have you looked into them on ebay. I just checked briefly and saw listings for (2) 1 day passes for $110. Looks like to have to arrange for local pick-up but if you're driving it may be do-able.

Susan, I'm really "bummed" about your Disney trip with the band. The few connections I have weren't any help either. Sorry. Cat

thanks ladies - we've moved on to "Plan B" - which still might include Disney. We're just going to leave when originally scheduled and "go with the flow"! {okay - so part of Plan B might involve trying to storm the gate with the group of 145 marching band kids, and hope they don't notice us - but we don't think jail time in CA sound good!! LOL} Since I refuse to pay such a ridiculous price {they should TOTALLY have a chaperone price for parents of kids on field trips - UGH!!} I think we'll resign ourselves to the outlet, downtown Disney, lunch at the hotels and cruising around causing trouble! LOL thanks for tips, ideas, and phone calls - MUCH appreciated!

Doggone it, Susan! We went as chaperones when our daughter was in the BYU Cougar Marching Band, and we got a "deal" (we did indeed march right in with them...everyone knew we were there), but maybe they don't do that any more. If the band was actually playing at Disneyland, that might make a difference for you, but it doesn't sound like there's time for that.

what if you just call Disney and see if you can get a group discount. I would think with a big group they would have something like that.

Don't get me started on the cost of being a chaperone! I must have spent $100s over the years.
Just remember why you are doing it. Call Disney. You've got nothing to lose!

oh sorry to be confusing ladies - the band already has tickets and the chaperones have tickets with the band. However my girlfriend and I were not on the chaperone list!
We're going along in our own vehicles as rebel chaperones! LOL! We're just going to have fun and have NO responsibilities! Since we both have seniors we felt slighted that we weren't asked to be chaperones {after all we've done this year - UGH!} so we're just tailing the bus from AZ to CA and then crashing the parking lot meet-up and surprising them! LOL!
Since we aren't "on the list" we dont have tickets. We thought we had lined up our own through my girlfriend's contact, but that fell through!
Oh well - we're good. Shopping it is, and cruising around Downtown Disney - I'm sure we'll see enough Christmassy themes over there, AND do some shopping, AND eat some food. Heck, we won't even miss the kids!
And did I mention that we have NO responsibilities?!?!?!?!
LOL
THANKS all!

I love that "No Responsibilities" field trip I am sorry that I do not have any suggestions for getting into Disneyland at a discount. We ususally go during Christmas week and never get the deal but that is the only time we can get away. I am sure you will have fun anyway. I am sorry that you do not get to ride those rides Cindy

True discount tickets to Disney are rare has hens teeth. My best friend is a travel agent and Disney doesn't do much discounting... they don't have to. Maybe the downtown disney area has a scrapbooking place, I know the one in Florida does.
Hope you have fun anyway, I already know that you will.

Barb As far as I know there is no scrapbook store in Downtown Disney, Anaheim. We were there last December. there isn't one in Downtown Disney - not my thing anyway. I rarely buy themed paper or character oriented anything. Just me - I'm a rebel. Or - sorry - make that a rogue! HAHAH But in Downtown Disney the BEST thing to do is shop at Little Miss Matched and then eat at House of Blues! FAVE FAVE FAVE things to do there! But we'll also be taking tons of goofy pictures - remember it's just me and my girlfriend hanging out - while we stalk the band director. LOL - I haven't even BEGUN to tell you about the band director! But if you're at Disney on Friday - definitely keep an eye out for the tall red head being a terrible influence on a super-short blonde! That'll be us - luckily our children won't be around to be ill-influenced!!! HAHAHAHA!!!

(I do have to buy 2 packs of the same socks so they match ) Cindy Cindy!!!!!!!!!!! You buy two packs of the same 3-somes so they match? Wouldn't that be like calling them "Little Matched" then instead!! LOL LOL LOL - you silly scrapper - they are supposed to be silly and wonky and goofy! I love love love 'em - wear 'em all winter long! Last winter when my son was on the basketball team I wore a black pair for almost every game {black with stars, black with spots, black with puzzle pieces, black with stripes, etc.} but never matching. I usually sat in the first row of seats opposite the team, and the put my feet up on the bar. My son would tell me EVERY game - "mom, another guy told me during the game that your socks don't match!" - totally cracked us up!! I'd say "tell him to watch the game and NOT the fans!" HAHAH! Anyway - I just love 'em - love the 3-packs, love the fun, love the colors! LOVE going through TSA with 'em on too - HAHAHA!! Gail - my doctor wears 'em too with her office clogs. Occasionally we end up with at least ONE on that matches! LOL

I got that catalog a few weeks ago and showed DD. She looked at me like I was crazy!
I'm a match-y girl. That's why Gymboree still whispers in a corner of my heart. In spite of the fact that DD wouldn't be caught dead in their clothes anymore!

We ended up doing it inside the craft room. No spills We dyed t-shirts, pillow cases, and socks. they all turned out so cute!! the girls wore the shirts to school on Monday One of the girls said she did not want the party to end. I had large zippy bags to place all their wet goods in to take home. It was up to their Moms to wash everything the next morning. I think it was a hit Cindy

Cindy, I'm going to tuck this idea away, esp now that they are older. My kids like to do home parties because I (within reason!) let them invite however many kids they want to invite. And I can be so much more creative with the decorating and such at home.
For DD's 8th? 9th? (not enough caffeine yet!) birthday, she did a puppy party. We ordered little stuffed dogs from Oriental Trading Company, served the cake in plastic dog bowls and had a digging contest to rescue Barbie in the sandbox. I think that was my favorite party to date. For the cake, I made a 3d dog house and decorated it with candies and a cookie dog bone. Now that was a fun party!

Very creative One year we did a Bead party- I bought a bunch of beads and string and different kinds of findings and let them have at it. They enjoyed if very much. It is hard to come up with new ideas that will entertain the kids. Son is 16 now and he is VERY hard to please. I do have alot of fun planning though. Cindy

Cindy, I gave up on themed parties last year for DS-13. We went to a movie and had cake and ice cream. They seemed happy enough. Boys are so boring!
DD is still really into parties. We will see what she comes up with this year. Last year it was The Lightening Thief (Greek mythology) and all the girls came dressed in togas. Fun!
