Hi Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that the foam on the lifestyle/quickutz dies are different ? It's not shiny anymore so it's harder to slide into the sleeves and it collects paper lint. At least thats been my experience.

Hi Cathy: I have noticed the paper lint and I've also noticed that I have had to shim. I never needed to shim with the older dies.
Maybe it was just one of the newer dies that I was having trouble with.... *thinking* the deer. I had trouble getting the new deer antlers to pop out without a shim.

I hadn't noticed but just checked and yes it does feel not as smooth as the older ones. I haven't had any issues with mine though, knock on wood. Vicki

Yep, my foam is different too, more similar to the Sizzlits surface, but this needn't be a bad thing. Sometimes I had problems with small paper scraps sliding while I put the cutting pad on the die, so the shape wasn't completely covered when cutting. A less smooth surface might prevent this kind of accidents.
I just tried my deer and pinecone and both cut perfectly. If your's cut incomplete I'd contact LC customer service. There were always those not perfectly etched dies and QK used to be great about exchanging them.

I tried my deer die and it cuts fine. If your die cuts fine with a clear shim adhered to it, I would let it be. If you are still having problems, let LC know.
I've noticed the paper lint, though. But like Scrapkatz said, I like that the paper doesn't slide around as easily. I just swipe the die over my jeans before it put it away. That seems to get most of the lint off.
