How are all you midwest and mid-Atlantic divas faring with the big storm? Woke up this AM to 4" on the ground, and snowing steadily still. They're predicting up to another 8". We so rarely have big snows here on the coast, plows and salt are virtually non-existent. The roads are clear once it warms up! Fortunately, I'm not due to work again until Wed, so I'm hibernating and purging my craft room today. I must admit, the snow-covered trees are beautiful, as long as I'm viewing them from inside! Stay safe and warm, ladies! Gail

Gail. Daughter # 2 was suppose to fly your way today with her boy friend to met his mom & stepdad. Their flight was canceled and it will be later in the week before they get to leave. His mom & stepdad live in Springfield, Va. A plus for me.......but a disappointment to boyfriend & his family I'm sure. D#2 has mixed feelings......it will be the first time she meets any of his family except his 2 sons. (a 15 yr old & a 9 yr old). Our weather has been warm then cold for several weeks now....one day it's flip flop weather the next is socks and shoes.....with layers of clothes. T-shirt, long sleeve shirt, hoodies with a bigger coat on top.....because some days around noon you have to start shucking clothes.......Layers have always been the way to dress in Texas; but this year has been the worsed about the changing weather. (we've seen 95 F to 20 F temps. rain, sleet, snow, dirt blowing to calm wings all in a 24hour time peroid ever so often; for as long as I can remember, but it's happening alot this year) Even through alot of people seem to be getting sick from the weather's changes.....it's not a safey problem like what CA seems to be having. CA Ladies I hope you are all safe & dry..... Snow Storms and Ice Ladies I hope you are safe and warm. Please everyone stay safe and have a great and wonderful start for the new year!
Hugs & Prayers Cat

Gail! I remember when we lived in northern Virginia, the kids had tons of snow days. If flurries started, snow was cancelled. Like you said, they just don't have the equipment. Stay safe and warm. Boston is supposed to get hit tonight and tomorrow with a blizzard. The kids are so bummed that they will miss it (we are in Minnesota right now.) I told them not to worry--the driveway will need to be shoveled out when we get home on Thursday! Michelle

I actually saw snowflakes in Jacksonville while driving to the game. It was very cold sitting out there. MIL lives in PA, they are due to get hit pretty bad with lots and lots of snow. Vicki

Oh, Dani! We won't tell Rose that you are bashing MIL! We saw the inlaws again today. DH and his sister spent all last week (when DH was her for his brother's funeral) scanning and loading about 600 photos onto a digital frame. When the inlaws saw it, they started crying. Like Vicki said, sometimes that's a good thing! You did good, DH and SIL! Michelle

Two winters ago, when it snowed so heavily in Seattle, my DD (who lives in Redmond, WA) reported that snow removal equipment had to be "deployed" to the area...Seattle didn't really have anything to get the streets cleared! You folks who are getting hit so hard with the wintry weather have my sympathies, and I'll quit complaining about our seemingly endless rain! (At least our area hasn't had any significant flooding...yet).

Everyone seems to be having cranky weather! The snow finally stopped, and we have a foot of it on the ground - not much for the snow belt, I know, but a big deal around here. DH's office is closed today, and probably will be tomorrow, too, since both staff and patients will have trouble getting there. We are safe and sound, power's still on. We have had some minor tree damage with branches breaking from the weight of the snow. DH is out there today, cutting them off and hauling them to our brush pile. Other than that, we've stayed indoors with the fireplace lit, watching our beautiful birds at the feeder, reading, and cleaning the studio. (Oh, yes, and having a bit of wine last evening! ;D). I really feel for all the people stuck in airports because of the storm, or without power from it. Stay safe and warm ladies! Gail

Now Christmas is over and I wish the snow would disappear right away. It has been here since the beginning of December and it´s still freezing outside. Everything is so difficult with all that snow. Maybe I should start working with some lovely spring-colour bazzil and papers and hope it can warm me up. ;D

Ansa, I'm tired of snow, too! Until today. Wow, has Mother Nature been busy. We had hoar frost this morning and all the tree are twinkly and sparkly with this glitter of frost. The sky is that pale winter blue and it's just beautiful.
We had breakfast with DH's family this morning and drove waaaaay out into the countryside. There are tons of farms out there with big red barns, the beautiful blue sky and the glittery frost. It was just beautiful!

Michelle, I hope you took your camera with you! It sounds absolutely incredible, and those of us with no Christmas snow need to see pictures (please)!

I hope that all of you Divas (and El Divo, too) on the East Coast will check in and let us know how you are faring...the news says that it's pretty awful for you.
Stay safe, everyone!

Diane, I'll post some pictures later, after my brother and SIL leave. I saw them Christmas Eve at Grandma's, but we are celebrating with our family today.
SIL is working from here today, so I'm killing time on the computer, sitting next to her at the counter. Fun family times!

We got snow here in Pennsylvania, not sure how much here, probably about 6-7inches or so. It's hard to tell because the wind gusts were, and still are about 40-45 mph blowing the snow all over the place. It's freezing out there!!!!!
BAD NEWS is our high school marching band is scheduled to fly out to California tomorrow. They are marching in the Rose Bowl parade this year. Since there are almost 400 kids in the band and lots of friends and family members also attending they are scheduled to fly on 5 different flights tomorrow, departing Newark, NJ, JFK in New York and Philadelphia. So far 2 of the flights from Newark have already been canceled for tomorrow. They had a lot more snow in New Jersey and New York than we did here in Pennsylvania and those airports were closed today and either just reopened or are scheduled to reopen soon. Philadelphia airport had many delays today also but was open. My daughter is scheduled to fly from PA and her flight is on schedule as of now. I hope they are able to get all the kids there. They are also scheduled to perform 2 other times while they are in California, once in a show that will be shown live online (for a fee, of course) on the 29th featuring all the bands marching in the parade. It would be a shame if they had to miss that. The kids are so excited to be going - darn weather!!!!!

Oh, Phyllis! I do hope the weather improves enough that the band can get to CA, even if it's a bit later than they planned. Marching in the Rose Bowl Parade is pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so I will hope and pray that they will get there, one way or another!

Just got another email saying they have tried everything and it looks like the whole trip may be canceled. They are having a press conference at 9pm tonight at the school and are asking for everyone to attend. Oh please, I hope something good comes out of this. Besides the almost 400 band members about 450 family members and friends have signed up for this trip.

Oh, Phyllis! My heart is breaking for these kids. I'm sure they have been working all year to make this happen, and now this. I do hope that somehow it all works out!

Here are some pics that I took today. The first was shot out of the car window while we were driving--not too bad. But it was a bit too early and the sun really wasn't up yet. The second photo is of the kids building a snow fort in the yard. The big mound of snow is from plowing the driveway. They have had A LOT of snow in MN this year! Michelle

Oh, Phyllis! How terrible for the kids. I can't imagine how hard they've worked for and how excited they've been about this opportunity... I pray something works out for them so they can go! Stay warm! Gail

Phyllis! That is such wonderful news. I can just imagine how excited all the kids are. What a giddy group that will be on that plane! Thanks for the update. And we will be sure to watch for them at the parade. Great job, Continental! Michelle

Michelle...the pictures are great! I love the midwestern farms! We drove from Minneapolis to Stevens Point, WI, two summers ago, and I must have taken several dozen pictures from our car window! (No pretty snow in July, however! )

Phyllis, I'm so glad things are working out for the band. My brother got to march in a New Year's Day parade years and years ago......it was really special for him and his class mates. Cat
