Pam, thanks for the update. I was on the QK web site last night and it wasn't working properly. I know they are trying to transition everything over to the new site. lifestylecrafts.com/

Does this mean they will carry everything over to the new site eventually including the ez reference which they still haven't added the exclusive dies I requested them to :/

Good Q, Noelle. I'm hoping that they bring back the gallery. It says that they plan to do it through Facebook. I may just be forced to be on FB!

I am personally very upset with the new website. I do not do facebook and to think they want downloads to there is ridiculous. At the bottom of the website it says contact us. I have written my letter. Hope all you do also. I told I will not go to facebook for community gallery. No forums and I also had mystuff listed in the reference guide. Thankfully I bought the Wendyfull Guide to QK and recorded all my dies in it . I am just very disappointed in the site. I always went to the designers projects and then the community gallery. I probably won't visit the site much unless alot changes. As far as changes goes, I don't think they did much changes in there site they just eliminated everything I liked. SO contact them and tell them what you want. If they get enough letters maybe they will change. At least it felt good to vent. Deborah

Deborah, I don't "do" Facebook, either! Coincidentally, I just heard (literally "just heard") on the radio that FB is considering using posts on their site as advertising, if the person posting is talking about a specific product. That would be a sweet deal for Lifestyle Crafts, but maybe not so much for the person posting. I hope LC/formerly known as QK reconsiders that decision.

Oh, I am really disliking change the older I get. I don't want to have to deal with QK on facebook. I'm already on there too much!!! and I don't want to lose my die reference list that I've spent so much time on checking off each die.

I'm not happy with that whole facebook thing either. I certainly won't join facebook just to be able to look at LC samples. Did you notice, how few cards and LOs versus all kinds of decorative stuff are featured in the LC idea gallery? Though I like making decorative items, my main focus is scrapbooking. I'm a bit worried about the direction in which LC seems to be moving

Well, I sincerely hope they bring back the reference list. I have my dies on there as well. Except it hasn't worked for me in months. I've emailed them a few times, but never received a response. I'm hoping that once everything is over on the new site, it will be bigger and better. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
And if a feature is important to you, let them know. They can only fix the issues they know about!

Cindy, I was wondering the same thing. I was just over on the website and I didn't see the gallery. But it is much easier to find the LC/QK DT projects!

At this point, it's still a pretty basic site. It's different from what we're all used to, so will take an 'adjustment period', I'm guessing. Not sure about all of the projects that were uploaded onto the site into the community gallery. But if I had to take a guess (which is what this would be) they won't be transferred to the new site at this point. Can't wait to see the CHA stuff!! Pam

I am not one to make many comments on forums but on this subject, I am making a little "noise". I emailed Lifestyle Crafts about the QK.com website (no response yet) and then thought about commenting on their blog. Below are 3 comments that I thought some might be interested in, my comment is similar to the email I sent to Lifestyle Crafts. I think that if more people commented on their actual blog where your comments/suggests would be seen by others (instead of or in addition to sending an email Lifestyle Crafts), something might be done about the wonderful resources that will be lost once the QK.com site is closed down. -------------- #1 Ellen posted on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 7:31:02 AM America/Denver While I won't disagree that this is a really great looking site, I am still very disappointed. I used the QK.com website almost daily to view both current and past dies for ideas. I checked this site before I purchased items from either an on-line store or ebay to see what kind of projects have been made with the die. Now I can't. This website (Lifestyle crafts) isn't helpful at all with retired dies. (I am new to QK and QK.com was so helpful for me.) If there was some kind of reference book available with the QK dies up to the current date, now that would be helpful. I just purchased something like this on Ebay that was printed in 2005. Why can't QK.com remain or be integrated with this site? or keep QK.com could WITHOUT the buying option. This WONDERFUL resource is gone - such a disappointment to your customers. I will now be very hesitant to buy any dies in the future. #2 Sue posted on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 8:52:02 AM America/Denver I have to agree with Ellen. Although the new site is fresh and attractive, it lacks what we have all come to expect from a visit to the QK site, which was chuck full of resources. Most of all, I will miss the community gallery. I don't want to have to log into FB each time I want to see posts. I absolutely loved seeing work from my fellow QK-aholic friends! We all learn so much from each other. I have to strongly agree again with Ellen about the resources lost when looking at ALL dies. This new site may be new and fresh, but getting rid of the old isn't always for the best. I strongly encourage you to extract the best parts of the original site and integrate them here. I am a very seasoned QK die cutter. I am on a design team and post in both places. I am always inspired and learn new things from the posters, please, please consider revising this site and bring back our die resources as well as our community gallery!!!!!! Please know this is meant as constuctive criticism from a loyal customer, not as a complaint as I love all that you make from dies to machines to my Letterpress. #3 Lifestyle Craftsposted on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 10:13:33 AM America/Denver ellen, @sue: Thank you for the feedback! We appreciate hearing from you and want to make the site a great resource for our customers. FYI, the QK site and community gallery will remain up for the next couple of months while we work out a strong solution to integrate this feature to the new site. [glow=red,2,300]While we understand that you want to see the old dies on the site, they will not be a part of the Lifestyle Crafts brand moving forward. [/glow]For now, please use the Facebook page to show us your new projects. Thank you for your patience! (note, no other comments have followed this one from Lifestyle Crafts) -------------------- Please note that it didn't take long for LifeStyle to reply to Sue and my comments. I am really concerned about their comment of: [glow=red,2,300]While we understand that you want to see the old dies on the site, they will not be a part of the Lifestyle Crafts brand moving forward[/glow]. Does this mean that the retired dies will completely be forgotten, with no way to have any reference/resource to them except for our own personal memories? Please, let LifeStyle know what you are thinking about all the changes. I don't think they understand what customers/consumers really want or don't want to see happen. Ellen PS - this just might not be the last you hear from me about this!

Thanks for posting LSC response from their blog. I have one question. Why did they say that QK website and Gallery would remain on the web when it is already gone. I have gotten the dreaded 404 ERROR all week. Tonight, there is the new msg Could not establish database connection with everest copy when trying to connect to QK site. This is just my opinion but I have a feeling they are trying to appease all the unhappy Community gallery members and have no intentions of keeping that site open. I am really sad to see the resourses for older qk dies go away. I referenced that site many times during the week looking at idea's and the older dies when friends and associates had questions.

Ellen, thanks for joining us and showing us the LC responses. That is really helpful. First of all, let me say that I'm really disappointed that the gallery is gone. And that the ability to look up old dies is gone as well. DEEPLY disappointed. I also used this resource several times a week and the website does seem to be gone. And that makes me sad! Now, here is what I'm wondering. And it's just me--I don't have any knowledge of this. But I'm wondering if they don't have the "rights" to those dies? And that is why the references weren't moved to the new site? Or it's possible that they just don't "get" the need to reference the old dies. I know there is a book out there. But it's expensive and it was out of date even by the time it was printed. That's just the nature of a printed resource. I loved the online inventory. And I loved the ability to look up an older font/die. Hopefully they will listen and try to work with their customers. And I do think it's helpful to let them know what you are thinking. Directly to them, not just here. Because they probably aren't over at Scrapy Land reading our MB!

I'm not terribly impressed with the new website either and I will not be going to face book to look at anything.
They may not have rights to the old dies, it's something to think about.

I did go and print out the whole list of dies (2 pages/1 )...teeny print, but I figured I'd better grab it while it was still there. I have a feeling that LC is going to have to make those QK sites available, or there'll be a mass exodus from the site (not to mention many, many emails from all of us!)

Barb I hope that if LC "bought out" QK, that they would also have included the rights to the old QK dies as well. It would be nice if they would address this issue on the new site...

Well, I sincerely hope they bring back the reference list. I have my dies on there as well. ... Michelle, I was able to get to the reference list on the old QK site this morning, and (as I mentioned above) I printed out my list. I didn't even look to see how updated it was, because I wanted to be sure I got what I could before it disappears again! And...on a related note...I have the Wendaful guide, and the first update, which actually had dies listed but not released yet (at the time of the printing). If this is the way that we have to go, I hope she is able to work with LC for new die information.

I printed it too Diane. I have the Wendaful guide as well but haven't gone through it and checked anything off in it since I always just went to the QK site for that. When I was "shopping" I could just check my QK list if I was unsure whether I had a die or not. I hope she can still do the updates too.

Oh, thanks for this heads up, guys! I'm on the QK site right now trying to get my inventory updated and printed off.
I haven't tried it yet, but before you could save it as an Excel file and then print it. I would sort out for the dies that I had/didn't have and then delete the ones I didn't have. That way, I wasn't printing 8,000 sheets!

Last night, I wasn't able to view any photos. Very disappointing.
I would like to add some more comments that were posted to the Lifestyle Crafts blog. I hope it was ok (especially since I am new here) that I started another topic about this specifically. If now, please let me know and I will delete it. Thanks.

Congrats on the new site and the blog. (I have yet to look around the site, as I came straight to the blog). Constructive critisism? FB while massively popular is not for me. You will lose me quickly on this FB / Gallery aspect. I do expect something akin to the old gallery on LC for the future though and cross my fingers! I get the separation of the old brand and the new brand. What I think you may be missing is a thing called loyalty and respect to long time customers who value the huge creative value of an existing body of work created by Design Team members but importantly - created by YOUR CUSTOMERS and THEIR SHARED COLLECTIVE.! QK customers were very loyal and patient from what I have read about so please just don't dismiss the old. I dont think any customers expect a new company to just run with the old just because. I am sure some creative solution can be sought. How about doing a website poll with some practical solutions and let the customer base vote on it? Maybe putting the whole gallery up in flickr or similar - just out in the ether. It doesnt have to be maintained as part of the LC site does it? I think personally customers just dont want to lose the resource, I dont think they are going to mind soooo much what the logo says, just that its too good to lose! The old site was an almost daily visit for a fix of creatiivity, shame it is for now.... just FB. Looks like I will miss lots of info and fun stuff! I am glad things are on the up again - great designs great products.
5. Lifestyle Crafts posted on Friday, January 28, 2011 10:28:52 PM America/Denver @lorraine Excellent feedback. We will absolutely consider all of this and will keep you updated on what solutions we come up with. Keep in mind that if you go to the "Creative Ideas' tab on our new homepage, it is the same thing as the old gallery. The only difference is that the new gallery won't have the old QK projects. Thank you for your patience and feedback!
It's great that Lifestyle Crafts are responding to comments on the blog.
