My daughter is turning Sweet Sixteen on February 7th and she doesn't want to have a party. She is not the type for a big fancy party. But I want it to be special for her. I am trying to think of something to make up for her to give to her friends at school, kind of like a party favor, for her 16th birthday. Any ideas? I was thinking about getting those candy bar wrappers made up for her to give out. She is a great kid and I respect her decision to not have a party, but I still want it to be special for her!

Hi Lori,
I think you can buy M&M's with any message on them you like as far as candy goes. I know some people like to do special mother/daughter or father/daughter things for 16th brithdays, like a fancy dress up dinner out since they are almost grown.

Lori,
The m & m idea as a birthday favor is a nice one. I love the idea of taking her out to dinner for her b-day! Great ideas Phyllis!

I was just on the M&M web page and they do have some cute tins that you can put the personalized M&Ms in. I think I will probably do that. We had asked her if she wanted to go to see a play in NY City for her birthday, but she never gave us a reply. We usually take her out to dinner at whatever restuarant she wants for her birthday, so I was looking for something different. Maybe she would like a manicure. I will have to talk to her again about it. She said she didn't want anything special, but I don't want her to look back and be disappointed that she didn't have something special on her 16th Birthday. Besides I want to have something different to scrap in her album this year! LOL

Well, I do know some people who specifically make it a father/daughter thing. They get dressed up and go out just the two of them since daddy's little girl is growing up. One family I know the Dad gives the daughter a special piece of jewelry like a charm bracelet that can be added to year after year.

I love the M & M idea. You could use the QK matchbox and customize it. Or the little take out box. That would be cute with a little banner with your DDs name on it, "Happy Birthday DD" or something similar. And you never know what will be in the CHA release!

For treats to share at school, how about treat bags with 16 pieces of her favorite candy? "Sweet 16!"

I like the 16 pieces of candy! Even 16 M&Ms would be good!

Thanks for all the great ideas Ladies!! I went ahead and ordered the little tins of the personalized M&M's, I think she will really like them. I forgot about using the quickutz pizza box. Maybe I will make up a little tag or banner for the tins. I remember years ago for peoples 16th Birthday the girls would get Sweet 16 coursages made up with flowers and candy, but I know my daughter wouldn't like that, so maybe some sweetheart pink roses would be nice.

The M&Ms are a great idea. I'm going to keep that in mind for my kids' birthdays. I think they would like that!
