I've been checking out storage ideas. We will move over the summer and some things with my studio space need to be updated/purged/better organized.
Anyhoo, I've noticed that a lot of people store their stash by color. Rivets, ribbon, flowers, buttons, stickles, mists, etc. I don't do this--I put all my ribbon together, mists together, rivets, etc. I like this, because sometimes I may "audition" different colors for a project.
I'm wondering how you store your embellies? And does it work for you?

Do you know where you are moving to in the summer?
I put my ribbons in tins that Cat started me on and buttons in the plastic jars, the rest in their own drawer.

No, we don't know where we are going yet. We should know in about a month. They've named DH's replacement, but the graduating squadron commanders don't have their assignments yet. The wait is killing me!

for basic embellies Michelle I do everything by COLOR. I have a stack of drawers for eyelets, flowers, doo-dads, brads, epoxies, gems, bling, ribbons, found treasures, etc. and they are all sorted by color {green has 3 drawers though - SHOCKERS!} mists and paints are stored by themselves just because their containers are larger and when I decide I want to use a mist or an ink or a paint I usually drag out the whole collection to decide on color. But I love using my color drawers. When I get all done with a card or page I usually think "this corner needs something" so I grab a drawer. It amazes me sometimes what I find to tuck in a corner or embellish a die-cut with. My inspiration for color sorting was Stacy Julian - she does everything by color and it works beautifully for sorting, categorizing, searching and inspiration. Check out her blog for more ideas from her!

I have been in the process of reorganizing my craft room as well. I sort card stock by color. I'm unsure as to what I am going to do about printed paper or all the embellishments.
I have emptied about 6 drawers so I do have space to play with. I'm almost thinking about sorting by project since I have a couple big ones that I want to get done this year.
Especially since I bought a lot of this stuff or two specific projects, my moms memory album and our recent trip to Hawaii.
Otherwise, I'm kind of stuck as well. I don't think I have the space to sort exclusively by color.
Perhaps by category? All baby stuff together, all nature stuff together, disney, etc.? Will that work?

Barbara, if I have a big project like a travel album, I will keep all that separate. If I'm buying things for a specific purpose, I have a bin that I keep those things in until I do the project.
I currently have PP sorted by main color and then have them subdivided (pink prints/pink geometric prints/pink floral prints.) I keep ribbon together, paints in the same area, punches together, etc. I have a drawer where I keep thicker embellies. I toyed sorting by color, but I think this works best for me. I've been using this system too long to change now!
