Hubby and I are in San Antonio for our sons Air Force Leadership Graduation. It was tonight and I am so proud of him. We didn't realize what a big deal it was until we got there. He made it sound like it was nothing but it isn't nothing. All his bosses showed up to support him and it's always nice hearing people say such nice things about your kid. Now if I could figure out who stole his formal picture . He looked so handsome in his uniform. So to Justin, congratulations son, your momma and dad are so very proud of you and thank you for serving your country! Now off to explore San Antonio for the long weekend, woo hoo! Thanks for letting me brag! Vicki

Vicki, what wonderful news! A big congratulations to your son. He must have worked very hard to be awarded such an honor. Way to go!
Not to minimize this in the least, but it's very common for senior leadership to attend these events. Because it is a big deal! And because the AF family is there to support its own. Was this one of the rowdy events with cow bells ringing, air horns and lots of whooping and hollering? All the noise certainly keeps it interesting!
We have a few favorite places to eat when we are there. There is a BBQ place that's in a gas station. It's my favorite place to eat when we are there! I'll email DH and ask the name. It's really fun and really, really yummy!

Hubby replied quickly! I want to say these places are on the same side of town as Raldolph, but don't quote me on it. I wasn't driving. DH goes down there several times a year, but I've only been a few times. We were there last May, a week after I had my wisdom teeth out. I hadn't eaten solid food in 8 days. Maybe that's why I remember the food so well??? The BBQ place is Rudy's. www.rudys.com10623 Westover Hills (Hwy 151) San Antonio, TX 78251 Phone: 210-520-5552 This is a Greek place that I love, love, love. It's in a strip mall, but don't let that throw you. It's very casual, but oh so yummy! It's next to a Starbucks (guess how we found it? ) Papoulis Greek Grill at 8250 Agora Pkwy in Selma, TX 78154. It's part of The Forum shopping center.

Congratulations, Vicki! You should brag on your son's wonderful accomplishment! And we know that he couldn't have done it without his family's support! This IS a very big deal! Several years ago, my stepson (although a Navy guy) graduated from the Leadership Program at Randolph, and the military knows how to bring out the "pomp and circumstance". Big thank you's go out to all of SL's military families!

I know, I just think it's awesome that they attend, haven't seen that much before in our dealings in the Navy but a lot in the Air Force . Yes, when each graduate was announced, their group would call out something. Let's see, we heard a lot of someone yelling Warriors and then the group yelling Medics and the security ones were the best. Someone had a recording of a police siren and someone yelling Up against the wall and the group would yell spread em. Justin made it seem like it was just another thing but we did wonder when he called and asked us to come. When we got there we thought wow. Thanks for sharing in the pride with us, I was in tears reading all your nice posts. You all are the best~! Enjoying San Antonio. Weather is very, very warm. Saw the Alamo today. Saturday we're going to the San Antonio Rodeo. Will give the guys the list of the food places, they sound so yummy! Will share pictures when I get home, have daughters camera (my flash stopped working when we were in Las Vegas and have to send it in to get fixed) and her camera does not work real good so not sure how good the pictures will be Vicki

Vicki, I love all that whooping and hollering. Those events can get rather long and tedious and DH attends most of them, often travelling to attend. Not only is it interesting to see what the groups are chanting, but it also reminds me why we are there--that for the individuals getting the awards, it's a big deal!

Congrats to you and your son, Vicki! It is a big deal, glad he let you know, so you could attend. My brother is in he Air Force and he seems to downplay his accomplishments too. Maybe it is an Air Force thing. My hubby graduated from Officer Training Schools many years ago in San Antonio. It was a very good time. Hope you are enjoying it too. Sounds like you have plenty of suggestions of things to do. I'll save you from my restaurant memories; it may not be there anymore. We did enjoy the River Walk. Congrats again, and have fun!

Woo Hoo! Great news! The picture showed up on his desk when he went back to work. He think his commander may have taken it to give to him. However it got there, I am grateful and I laid claim to the photo, lol. Course I won't get it till the next time he comes home but it's still mine!!!! Vicki ps. I want to share a couple pics, as soon as I find my card reader, don't know where I put it
