From my last post you can tell, I'm reorganizing my QK collection. There seem to be some dies, where the foam doesn't stay on, no matter how often I refoam them, no matter what foam (older, more rough surface or newer more smooth) I use. It's the CC Polaroid, the oldest CC circles and the bracket frames both square and rectangle. To be honest, it bugs me quite a bit.
Is there a trick out there, i.e. cleaning with something special (water and dishwasher didn't help), that I did miss? TIA

Yes, this is the million dollar question. Is it the dies that the foam isn't sticking to or is it the foam that won't stick to the dies? I have this same problem with several dies/alphabets and it makes me BATTY!

I also have some dies with "iffy" foam. It seems more difficult to keep the foam on the skinnier dies (e.g., the lamppost, or the Uptown Girl alpha). The oversized dies that I have on magnetic vent covers on my cabinet doors lose the foam the easiest, so probably if I found a good way to store them horizontally, there'd be less problems...I just stick it back on when I open one of the doors (sigh...)
There's also a few different "types" of foam used over the years, and actually some of my older foam sticks better...but none of them are perfect.

I do not have any answers either I seem to have occasional problems with the old and new types of foam. I specifically have problems with the summer sets (can't remember the year) Enjoy, Flirt, etc. I have tried different foams that I have left over and they still seem to come off Annoyed but what can we do?? K...now I know this may not be the *politically correct* thing to do, but on dies where my foam doesn't tend to stick very well (I don't have a ton of them), I will add a couple dots of glue to the foam and glue it in. Not the greatest answer, I know, but it works! No more foam falling out! Pam

Pam, that's a great idea to use a bit of glue. I have the same problem. It seems like the color on those summer sets just doesn't hold the foam as well. Some of the silver dies seem to have a smooth coating that won't hold on to the foam, also. I'm sick and tired of having to keep replacing it. This weekend, I'm bringing out the glue!!! What brand do you use?? Thanks!! Gail

Glue! Of course...after all, the purpose is for the foam to stick to the die, hopefully forever, isn't it? ;D
Thanks for the idea!

I've used spray adhesive....sprayed the die and let it set awhile then stuck the foam on the die. I let the adhevise set so I could peel the foam off at a later date if I needed to. (It's the kind you can make the "sticky" tape notes by letting it set then stick ) Hope this helps.....for that matter even makes sense. Cat

I've used the Zig Glue Pens with the fine point. Just place a few dots on sporadically throughout the foam, then glue it in. If it ever needs to be replaced, then I only have a few spots (where the glue was) to scrape out of the die. But so far, I haven't needed to replace any foam that I've glued.

Thanks, Pam and Cat! I do want to be able to remove the foam in case I'm cutting something thick... Gail

I'm going to try this! And it's good to know that it can be removed if needed. I've refoamed dies that I've used a lot. Sometimes the foam just breaks down a bit and I like the pieces to just pop out.
