Hubby is out of town. Watering season is alive and well in NM. Only, we are supposed to conserve. My faucet was leaking and wasting way too much water. I searched on Google, how to fix a leaky outdoor faucet. It was pretty easy. I fixed my faucet all by myself and saved bundles on a plumber bill. And I will save more water in the future and more money on my water bill, too. Guess what I spending my "savings" on? ;D

Whoo hoo! Girl Power! And don't forget to factor DH's steak dinners in with that plumber's bill! I feel an order coming on!

Hmm...what else can I learn to fix? I like the savings equals ordering plan!

What else can you fix? But be careful--mom tried to fix the vacuum once, and we ended up with a new vacuum. And then she tried to fix the timer on the washing machine. And she got a new washing machine out of that, too! After that, Dad got better about fixing things in a more timely matter! Mom's "fixes" were too expensive!

I have actually fixed the vacuum before and also the dryer. Maybe that was part of your Mom's grand plan to "fix" things then end up with new ones. My dad wouldn't have wanted to buy new appliances if there were working ones in the house. Hubby is like that too. In fact, if I want Hubby to get to the Honey-Do list, I just rev up some power tool in the garage. He is sure, that I will wreck something, so he comes running, and my Honey-Do list is promptly tackled!

When DH gets a new "toy", has trouble getting it to work, I just smile and say "Did you look at the instructions?" Why is the "I can do it myself/forget the instructions" such a guy thing? (Sorry, Dani! ;D)

So true!!! My husband glances at the instructions then tosses them aside and begins. I grab them and then make him RE-DO whatever he has done

True story: When DH and I were first married (many, many moons ago!), we were living in Oklahoma and decided to go to the state fair in Oklahoma City. We drove down there with no idea where the fair grounds were. NO idea. We drove around forever before DH finally pulled into a gas station for directions. He honestly thought he would just find it by driving around randomly. But enough DH bashing! He actually learned his lesson. And now with the GPS, he ALWAYS has to load the address, no matter where we go. Even if we've been there a dozen times. But we get places quicker!

I definitely like the household repairs savings equals scrappy spending! (Good to know the exact paragraph, Gail ;D I can cite that to Hubby) Now, my drip irrigation is leaking. I may need some help with that repair though. Oh well, it will save money on the water bill, when we get it fixed.
