In honor of weddings everywhere, share your wedding picture. I'll start. My dress was huge--a long train, cathedral length veil and DH wore his Mess Dress. I still look back on that day with great relief that we were finally married! We dated for 5 years and were engaged for 18 months. And we were only 22 when we were married. DH looks so very young!

Michelle, I love your picture, both of you do look so young and happy! You asked, so here's mine: I don't like the background, but you can see the dress better. It had a lot of lace and a removable train - great for dancing. This is my favourite, taken in the church in front of the altar with our witnesses. So come on Ladies, who's are we going to see next?

Barbara, you're gorgeous! And the church was beautiful! I was too lazy to pull a photo out of the album to scan, so I went with the photo I have in the living room. So you can't see the dress very well. My train was really long, but attached. So I had to bustle it and it was still hanging on the floor. It got stepped on a lot! The longer part of my veil was a piece velcroed on, so at least I could take that part off and just have the shorter veil. That was one of the smarter things I did!
What year did you get married? I had a bridesmaid dress very much like your bridesmaid dress. That was 1989. Sheesh, I'm old!

Ladies, we celebrated our 38 wedding anniversary today. Thursday was the real date.....but we went out to eat today. DH sent me daises with two pink edged yellow roses at my work on Thursday. (A complete surprise....) Today he gave me a 1947 221-1 Singer Featherweight sewing machine. It sews beautifully. I see machine stitching on my cards in the future.... Cat

Cat, I was all set to congratulate you on your anniversary. But then I saw that you got a Featherweight! Have you used it yet? Mine sews like a dream. I just love it. I'm working on a Dresden Plate quilt right now that I pieced on the Featherweight, using all 1940 reproduction flour sack fabric. Now I'm working on appliqueing all the "plates" onto the background. So congrats on both of your big events!

Ditto to what Michelle said!!! Fun sewing machine!!! I have a collection of toy sewing machines from different eras scattered around the house. None of them work but they are great fun to look at. I also have a 1930's ... oh I cannot think of what it is called... the kind they had before electricity that you pump with your feet to work the needle. help me out Michelle- what's it called??? Anyway it does not work either but I love it. Cindy

Michelle, I haven't used it yet.....but it's been a dream of mine to own one for years......what can I say.. DH know the way to my heart. I think I feel like the ladies in 1900's did when they got one of these little beauties... "Oh so Lucky!" .....I can't wait to sew on it! Cat

casunflower, thank you for the well wishes.....I'll take another 38 years with DH. He is a keeper for sure. When we told my dad we were getting married....he pulled out his billfold and took out a piece of paper were he had wrote. "Cat doesn't know it yet, but she has met the man she will fall in love with and marry." There was the day, date and time......with a few other details......along with the words "this one is a keeper" Cat

Cat The wedding pix are beautiful! I own a treadle sewing machine in Mexico, since I only use a generator when I'm there the treadle sewing machine comes in very handy during the day when I need to sew a few stitches
