Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! I had a nice day! A crisis was averted and I had 2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun for lunch!
The crisis: My daughter's senior prom is tomorrow night and while I was out doing a demo one day about a month and a half ago or so her and my hubby ordered her prom gown online from China. Apparently this is the thing to do now. Who knew? I couldn't get much info. out of them about the order (probably because: A. they spent too much and B. she took her own measurements Ahhhhhhh!. I finally found out the company name and checked out their website. Well, they were running way behind on orders and it said to email your "date needed". So I told them to email the date since the dress had not arrived yet as of last week and I had no ordering info. to do it myself.
Well, the dress finally arrived Wednesday, yes Wednesday. Here's the crisis part: It was toooooo long, the chest was too exposing and a few other minor issues like the straps were too loose, etc. My daughter asked me to fix it - ACK! I didn't even know where to begin or even how to fix it. The seam was sewn inside the two layers of fabric in the gown and I didn't want to ruin this expensive gown. Anyway, thank goodness I teach at JoAnn's and have a good friend in Denise there and she pinned the dress all up last night around 5pm and sewed it last night and had it finished this morning. (She hand sewed it! because of the seam she would have had to rip it all apart to machine sew it but could hand sew to one inside layer to fix it. I would have never thought of that. She works on costumes for a local ballet company and a nearby university so she knows how to make and alter extremely well. Anyway, today we went over to the store after school to try it on again/pick it up and the dress now fits like a charm.
WHEW! I told you it was a crisis averted!!! My McDonald's Big Mac was awesome too!!!! Lots of special sauce! Every now and again I love a good Big Mac.
Phyllis

Happy birthday to you!!!! YIKES!! on that sewing situation!!! I was panicking just reading it!!! I am glad it turned out well. My son went to Prom this year and decided to wait until Monday before Prom to get his tux. Because he waited so long he had to settle for a jacket with sleeves that were about 2" too short! Cindy

Phyllis, so glad your crisis was averted. It's great to have talented friends!! OOOH, a Big Mac - I may have to treat myself to one on my birthday, too. Its been ages, and I love 'em! Hope you'll share some pictures of your daughter in her beautiful dress! Gail
