what is your current "favorite" technique or process to use when making pages or cards? Meaning, what's the one thing that recently, you almost always use or do? Not supplies you use, but techniques or methods or styles - ways of getting started, routines for getting it done. Mine? Patterned paper backgrounds! Yours?

Mine is a new "thought" process
I recently got away from the have to scrap in order with pages that were not to movable I switched to the 3 ring binders and the WRMK assorted pockets pages - now I do what ever I am in the mood for
I am loving it

When making pages I always start with the photo's. I crop them and then I decide on either plain cardstock or patterned paper depending on how busy the photos then I chose my paper and embellishments. When making cards I tend to stamp, color, then chose my paper depending on the colors I have chosen. Deborah

I've been working on a lot of vintage/historic sites pages lately, and I nearly always chalk the edges of the photos, so that there's no white edge showing against the page. Color Box's Creamy Brown seems to work very well...it doesn't intrude on the actual colors in the photo, but just covers up the edge without being very visible.

When I start a page or layout I usually start with a sketch. Like BH&G Scrapbook Etc magazine sketches or Susans Blox sketches. Sometimes I will start with a new group of patterned paper and build from there. Another trend that I am liking is using white as a background. It makes the bright papers that I am drawn to pop (ie Echo Park ). Cindy

I started doing sketches, both for pages and cards. This came about when I was on vacation last week without any crafting supplies, and wanted to plan some projects. The sketches really helped speed up my process once I was home, and were a great way to avoid Scrapy withdrawal! Thanks for the inspiration, Susan! Gail

I seem to be working off inspiration pieces lately. Magazine pictures, Target ads, billboards... Sometimes I use the color combos, sometimes the page composition. I have a design wall for quilting and I have more inspiration ideas up there than quilt pieces!

Sketching out an idea for a card if I have an idea away from home. At home I usually lay out different elements and play with them until I get the look I want. Cat

Recently I have been starting with sketchs for inspiration and then tweaking it to be my own.
Like Diane I fell in love with Creamy Brown. It is wonderful to add some depth to your projects without having the heavy distress look.
I am rediscovering ribbon

For cards I've been doing a lot of layering on my card fronts and using a lot of pop dots. For scrapbooking I like to use sketches and get ideas from magazines.
