what's most important to you now-a-days when shopping for scrapbook supplies? ME? Versatility! I will gladly spend my money on a supply/tool/product line that I can envision being used several different ways! YOU?

Will I ACTUALLY use it
It seems that I have turned into a scrapbook product/tool collector - I need to take a step back from the item in question and really think if I will use it - If I will then spending the money is okay

Just like the previous Diane, I seem to be a tool/die collector, too! No one told me that I actually have to use these items...it just feels so secure to have them in my stash!

I look for quality and Brand.
I also collect many tools, and I want them to work well. I do not mind paying a little more if I can be assured it works as well as it claims. Lifestyle Crafts, Spellbinders, Martha Stewart, etc.
Oh and quality paper is a must. I like thick papers that look good and feel nice.

I am moving from being a collector to a user! I now try to buy for the project and beyond.
As far as tools go, I go with Brand, quality and will I use it. Having it recomended from a trusted source is also a plus.

I like versatility. I am in the process of organizing my craftroom (which I haven't done since we moved to Texas). I'm amazed at the amount of stuff that I am getting rid of. I spend a lot more time thinking before I impulse purchase.

Price and do I need it for a specific project is what is most important to me nowadays. For the past few months I have tried to only purchase things I need specifically for a project I am working on and even then only if the item is on sale.

Quality, versatility, and price are all important to me. I want tools that will last and still do the job. ( I will pay more for great quality tools) I try to buy dies that will work for several different projects. (Love looking at the die parts to see if I can turn it or use for something different)( Love border dies that will work for any season) I love sales where I can get the most for my money. I want good quality glues, tape, inks, and papers. In this last release from Lifesyles Crafts / Quickutz the border dies really did appeal to me. I can see several different uses of all the rest of the dies too. Cat

paper is my downfall BUT ;D i am trying to NOT buy that and get some embellies! i always see all the gorgeous pages you all do with all the nicknacks on them....... quality of paper is a must but like most of you it has come to 'when will i use this?' 'will i use this?' one only has so much room!!!! and i tend to be more of a 'collector' and that MUST stop!!!! and since you all have shown me those wrmk albums/refill - maybe when i finally invest in those i will start to use some of the 'collection' ;D

Can I use it for the current project (paper, embellishments). As for dies, stamps etc. will I use it over and over again.

For tools, I try to decide if I will use it multiple ways/times. Can I do the same thing with something I already have? Does it truly make my crafting easier or look more professional? Will I use it on another project?
Dies fall into that. I used to cut all that stuff out by hand with tiny scissors. It just never looked quite right and now, I just love the professional look that dies give my projects. My work now looks "hand crafted," not "home made."
For consumables, I definitely look for quality. Does the adhesive work? Will it still stick over time? Is it messy? And paper... you all know how much I love paper. I love the thicker stuff, the double sided paper, the pretty paper. But sometimes I just have to buy it because it makes me happy!

I look for multiply ways It can be used. I don't buy it if I am not going to use it. I buy new dies but I don't buy the newest tools if what I have works. I only have so much room for storage so I am pretty basic when I buy. I buy lots of paper but usually not the embellishments. I like to make my own with my dies and alphabets.

I'm with you, Deborah - I virtually never buy embellies, except for basics like buttons and ribbon, preferring to make my own. I look for supplies and dies that have multiple uses - can I dress it up or down? Will it work for cards as well as pages? The only exception to this is Holiday themes - I completely take leave of my senses when looking at Halloween and Christmas dies and PP!! Gail

I look at things I might buy and think, can I use this one day, if I think so, I buy it, lol. I really need a better system but for now, this is the fun way to do it, lol. Vicki
