Well it's official! My baby graduated from high school last night (and also turned 18 last week). The weather was a bit iffy all day for an outside ceremony but then the skies cleared up long enough for the ceremony to take place outside. The indoor alternative was the gym. The sun was out when we arrived but as the ceremony continued a HUGE black cloud appeared over us followed by more black clouds. Some of the adults speeches were held so the kids could be announced and receive their diplomas (which was done faster than I imagine was planned). The clouds remained and there were a few spits of rain and then the adults gave shortened versions of their speeches. The kids then went into the school to receive their actual diplomas along with a letter from our State Senator and then there were lots of pictures taken outside the school. As we walked to our car the rain started slowly. By the time we got in the car and were on our way it downpoured. WHEW!!!! Close call!!!!!!!! I must admit I did enjoy the appreviated ceremony. LOL Phyllis Forgot to add, the winds kicked up big time when the clouds came and the temp. dropped at least 10 degrees.

Congratulations to your daughter...and definitely her family!
Thank goodness the weather held out for such an important occasion!
(My own high school graduation...more years ago than I'll ever admit...was shortened considerably because of a tornado alert!)

Congratulations, Phyllis! Love the picture - you all look so proud and happy. Glad Mother Nature cooperated (at least partway) for the ceremony. Looking forward to seeing pix and pages from the ceremony! Gail

Milestones are so much fun. Congratulations. Great photo. My daughter graduated in the dark in 2000. They got half way and a storm went through and out went the lights. They went ahead and got flashlights and finished the gradutation. I was so glad going home to the country to find out I had lights at home as over 200 people came for the party afterwards. One thing about it everyone remembers Amanda's graduation. My oldest daughter even managed to get a good photo of her. They had enough flashlights that the camera took a good photo. Amazing.

Thanks for the congrats ladies. My daughter is going to Kutztown University in the fall and working towards a business degree. She would like to be an event planner and she also loves making jewelry - cutting out the sterling silver, etc. and Kutztown has an excellent art program so she hopes to be able to do something with that too.
At her high schools Art Show this year (which really doesn't include jewelry for the awards) a pair of her earrings were chosen to be in the show and she got a ribbon for them. The judges are independent and not employees of the school. Anyway, one of the judges wanted to purchase her earrings. COOL!!! She had made them for her cousin though so.........not for sale.

Phyllis, it sounds like your DD needs to set up a side business and pay her way through college!
