I just looked out the window a few minutes ago, and discovered that a doe gave birth to twins this morning, in a secluded area under a group of trees by our house. The little, spotted babies are being cleaned by their mom, and they're both up and exploring. I may not get any work done today, because I'm busy watching the new mom and her babies!

Oh that is so cool!!!! We lived in Santa Cruz (for about a minute) when I was in HS and had a forest of some sort behind our house. A young Deer would sleep in our backyard occasionally. It was soo neat to see it out there in the mornings. Enjoy your new little family. I hope they stay for a while. Cindy

Oh, yes, Diane - pictures!! We had lots of deer in our backyard in NY, but never got to see anything like this... Enjoy watching this miracle of nature! It's a rare treat, and a perfect reason to set aside your usual chores! Thanks for sharing this with us. It put a big smile on my face. Gail

Mom and the babies are gone...for now, but they'll likely be back tomorrow morning! Getting pictures will be a challenge, because the area is very shaded, and the deer blend in pretty well (probably one of the reasons that they like this spot).
There's a herd of 10-11 deer that stroll through the back yard fairly regularly...especially now that we finally got some warm weather, because they like drinking out of the bird bath! They also like the "deer salad"/plants! ;D

What a great way to start the day!
We had lots of deer in our old yard in VA. And yep, they liked to drink out of the bird bath! We live on the edge of a wildlife sanctuary here, but the deer are on the other side of the ridge. But every now and then one wanders through the yard.
I was folding laundry yesterday and there was a baby bunny eating it's "salad" right outside the laundry room door. It was so sweet!

Oh how sweet! Have you seen the babies again? We had a mom and 2 babies that would travel through our yard about a year or so ago. They are so cute when they are small.

We haven't seen them again...yet.
It may be because there are builders (with their trucks) at our neighbor's home...they had a fire about a month ago, so there's a lot of repairing going on, and it's noisy sometimes.
We keep watching, though!

How wonderful! I wouldn't get any work done either. I would be watching them all the time as well!
