I enjoy using texture gels and gesso to and depth and texture to my pages. It is also a great way to and fibers and non traditional items to your pages. Is anyone else using items besides paper, ribbon, buttons and stickers? Don't worry Dani iam sure my sales show that iam never giving up my quickutz addiction.

I have this friend of mine: Dee and she uses all sort of things, now let me tell you, she is the best scrapbooker I have ever seen IRL ;D and she uses old cds and make them into altered CDs that are used for titles, she uses sand, dollar stores flowers, everything...she told me that as long as those things are not touching directly your pics they won't damage your photos. She uses some sort of de-acidfy spray for all of her knick knacks.

Pamela, I would love to know how you use your nontraditional items. I have gesso, but I'm hesitant to use it. Give us some instructions for guidance, PLEASE! I'm up for any of that. I love to learn new things. Some are so dramatic, and yet simple. Waiting with baited breath!

Gilda,
It is really easy...you do need to use a heavy cardstock or even water color paper. All you have to do is paint the gesso on the paper and then if you want to add texture you can use modeling paste. It is easy to apply just use a craft stick and you can use that same craft stick to create texture just mold it where you want it. If you want to add objects you just need to do it while the paste is still wet. You can add dried flowers mesh (metal or cloth like gauze) really any item you can think of.
Also, you can let the gesso modeling paste dry and then you can etch a design into it or what I really like to do is while it is still wet stamp a design like a flower stamp into the paste. Once it is dry you can use watercolor pencils to add a touch of color and either a damp watercolor brush to blend the color or a blender pen.....i love blender pens they are the greatest. Chalk works real well on this also.
Hope this made sense. Let me know if i need any help it is really fun and makes very interesting pages and cards.

Thanks, that sounds so cool. I'll have to look for some modeling paste and maybe some paper - not that I don't have tons. I'd like to try this just to see how it turns out. I also like to rubber stamp, so I have lots of those I've collected for years. I'm going to give this a try.
You're so sweet for posting back. Thanks again. Gilda

What a sweet person you are. I'm sure I can find it. I assume Michael's of Joanne's has it. If not, would it be one of the model car shops? Hope that made sense. I'm not street savvy with their lingo.

Michael's will have it....Have not looked at Joanne's but they might they have branched out to add a lot of craft supplies. Really any store that has an Art's department like Michael's or Hobby Lobby will carry it.
