Hi, Chili! Our fireworks got rained out by huge thunderstorms, but I think they've rescheduled them for tonight.
It was great having a long weekend to relax... I really enjoy our neighborhood 4th of July parade - all the kids ride their bikes, or scooters, or just walk. Everyone and everything is decked out in red white and blue. So much fun for them, and for the grown-ups!
I hope you all had a great weekend, too! Gail

We had a nice, quiet Fourth! We spent some time in the morning at the giant celebration in the community park (which is one of the largest parks in the U.S.), ran into some people that we hadn't seen in years, and came home before it got blistering hot. Then we went to MIL's in the afternoon, and survived that event by refusing to respond to most of her ongoing snarky comments. An hour and a half later, we were back on the road, and were home in time to watch fireworks on TV in the comfort of our air-conditioned home! I hope everyone's Fourth was a memorable event!

I'm glad to hear that everyone had a nice time! Gail, I hope you got your fireworks last night. We had a nice day on the Cape. It was warm and sunny and I think we were down in the water four different times. It's fun to explore at low tide and we were there for both! Big Dog and the kids spent the entire day wet and ate me out of house and home. ;D And then we watched the fireworks from the beach. We could see 7 different displays (both private and towns) from our spot. It was perfect and gorgeous!

Chili, I'll try to post a picture tonight for you. We are off to the pool right now--it's hot here. Finally!
The beach we go to is rather rocky, except at low tide. So we swim at high tide and then explore at low tide. DH and I are from Minnesota, so the ocean is still a novelty to us. We saw crabs, clams, mussels, starfish, hermit crabs, sand dollars... even a sting ray! All just there to check out.
It was so cool to watch the fireworks. Our cottage was out on a point and we could see fireworks about 240 degrees around us. It was incredible!
