So, i have been creating a smash book the past week for our upcoming vaca, and can i tell you guys how freeing it is. Don't get me wrong, my passion is mini's and I love making them, but you have to pre-plan all the pages and make it look nice, etc. What i have found with making my own smash book was that i don't feel the need to make it all coordinate together. I just took a bunch of my scraps and went at it. I have not filled it yet, since we have not gone on vaca yet. I will take some snap shots over the weekend and show you guys, i am just really excited, I will definitely be making more of these.
Hugs,
Mila

Suzanne have you looked at the pages I posted in the photo gallery on the blog??? Scroll down the right hand side to the photo gallery - it's marked CHA. Click on it and then scroll back to the left - and there are 4 pictures of the pages I did in my black SMASH book on our recent trip to NE. This album concept is so totally freeing. Journaling - only if you want/need to. Acid free - who cares? Pictures - maybe, but added later {I left pages blank if I knew I had snapped pictures}. It's just a random collection of the tidbit of LIFE! I loved it - and my kids kept handing me stuff saying..."SMASH this mom!" It was great! You're going to love it - and the stickers and flags and clips and stamps - must haves!

Susan, i would have definitely bought one, but I was running out of time, so i just decided to make one out of my scraps. I don't shop at M's or J's (I have not been shopping much at all lately LOL, not since i bought my DSLT in May ) so i have been trying to use what i have, but i am so going to be placing an order soon, i am running out of Graphic 45 paper, so will be going into panic mode soon LOL It is totally freeing, i so agree!! You can capture the everyday moments without having to worry about anything. If you want to include pictures go ahead, if you don't then don't. I also left spaces for pictures and journaling and made pockets for receipts or menus to what ever restaurants we go to. I used all of my favorite paper collections, even if they had nothing to do with the beach theme, it doesn't matter!! I used G45, Webster's, Tim Holtz, Stampin Up, October Afternoon, I still tried to make the papers coordinate a little if the were side by side, but if i didn't get a perfect match i really didn't care. This book is really about just capturing the little moments that are forgotten when we come back from vacation. I also want to make one or I might try buying one of the K&Company Smash books, and use it for my scrappy ideas, i have so many everyday, but i don't right them down and then forget them. Hugs, Mila

I bought one of these to keep information on my garden and I always save the little tags that come with my plants and lately I take photos of the plant in bloom. I figured if we ever sold our house how nice it would be to hand new owners all the info on the garden..but I just haven't had time to play with it yet. These seem so fund and am looking forward to seeing everyone else's picts in the meantime.

Okay I took the plunge! This morning at work I ordered just about everything that said "In Stock" for the smash books. Since I'll be in NC on Wednesday, I even managed to think ahead enough to have it mailed to my parents house to make sure I don't miss it, where it would spend all vacation at my own home! I'm super excited. It will be a great way to keep up with all the little details about our trip. Can't wait to come back home and show everyone!! (Okay, well I can, because I won't want to come back home from the beach, but you know what I mean) And now, I gotta get some sleep! Two worknights down, five to go-ugh!

My parents house (where I grew up) is Nashville, just outside of Rocky Mount. I will also be spending time in Fayetteville. Our ocean trip this year is taking us to Myrtle Beach though, usually we hit Wrightsville (my FAVORITE place in the WORLD). Can't wait! 5 days!!

Thanks Karen! Maybe when I come next summer, me and you can meet!
I think I just had a great idea but I haven't searched stores yet.. Does Polaroid still make those little cameras that print like two-inch sticker pictures? Would that not be awesome for a Smash book?? I'm going to search tomorrow or Sunday and see...

Poop. The cameras are still available lots of places, but the film... sheesh! It's sooooo unbelievably expensive! So much for that idea. If you can afford it though, I still think it would be put to good use in Smashbooks!

I should have added express shipping to my SmashStuff. It's still processing! Hopefully it ships tomorrow. If my Tropical Splash got here in two days from FL to WI, maybe it could make it to NC in one day since it's half as far... right? Haha Anybody else working on these?

They are these great spiral bound notebooks with thick paper and a built in pen with a glue stick. So cool and lots of fun embellies to bling it up! www.scrapyland.com/K_Company_SMASH_Products_s/706.htmAlso, if you go to the Blog and scroll down, there is a Flikr gallery on the right titled "CHA." Susan used it on a recent trip and she has some of the pages shown there. www.scrapylandblog.com/

lol "Smash virgin" love it! I wasn't going to buy one but then, duh, a vacation is the perfect excuse! I got everything that was in stock! I've got my fingers crossed that FedEx comes before 11am. I can hope-my hometown only has about 350 people!

ARG! I'm dying. I was hoping my ScrapyPackage was waiting on my parents' doorstep yesterday when we got to their home... but no. So I ran around asking the neighbors if anyone picked it up, especially hoping the one who watered the flowers while we were gone had grabbed it for safekeeping. No luck! I have no idea where my smashstuff is!! FedEx just has it marked as Delivered to back door, but it isn't there I'm bummed but still hopeful! This town has about 350 people in it so usually nothing "unneighborly" happens but I'm prepared to knock on all those doors!!
