okay ladies - you agreed to play along - so let's see 'em!! Your page has to be scrapped at least 5 years ago - if you don't have pages from that many years ago - then let's see the oldest one you have. This isn't about the age of the pictures...it's how long ago the page was created! We want to see what you created at least FIVE YEARS ago! Here is mine - this all came about because of Harry Potter craziness this week... {This also happens to be the first page I ever had published!! WOO HOO} Check it out - NO patterned paper! For me - that's almost unheard of now-a-days!! HAHAHAH...and at this point in my scrapbooking I refused - flat out refused - to journal in my own handwriting. HATED IT! So it was all computer journaling, and most of my titles were also computer generated because I hadn't met QK yet!! But check it out - the date of the pictures {June 21, 2003} a receipt showing the price of the book, our tickets from the bookstore games, lots of cardstock layers {I was soooo into triple mats back then - everything had mats the more the better!} and a gold heat embossed laser die-cut! Remember laser die-cuts? Deluxe Designs? LOVED THEM, used them on everything! hahahah - I am sure I still have boxes of them tucked away somewhere! What my daughter was laughing at when she found this the other day - she was wearing a sweatshirt that my parents had given her. That sweatshirt still resides at their house in the "community closet" of sweatshirts, jackets, hats and boots. My nephew just wore it last month when we were all there - that made my daughter "feel old"! hahahah She also loved reading the journaling about the games we played at the bookstore and the times we did things. She made fun of me for the black flip-phone cell phone she was talking on to her friends back in Phoenix. She was teasing me for having a dorky phone!! I reminder here that THAT was a cool phone in 2003! And let's all say a word of thanks to orthodontists everywhere! She laughed about that for the rest of the day!! I've said it before ladies, and I'll say it again...THIS is why we scrapbook! To record memories - to log dates, to remember tidbits of trivia and capture emotions. My daughter kept saying to me "I remember this like it was yesterday!". It was EIGHT year sago - she had just turned ten. We're prolonging memories with out scrapbooks - we're cementing them in our memory banks. I LOVE THAT! okay - off my soapbox now - LOL! While these photos were from June of 2003 the page was scrapped in March of 2004 {I always try and date the back of the page..."scrapped 3/2004"} This weekend I am going to work on pictures from Thursday - from the final movie premier. With my EIGHTEEN year old daughter and her friends. Need to capture another great memory!!!! Now your turn - show us a page from at least FIVE years ago...I dare you!!

Ok, I am going to post two. This first page is the 4th I made when I started to scrapbook back in 2002! I went in for my one and only U/S of Abby and she did NOT want to open her legs. So we didn't know if we were having a boy or girl. So I totally wanted to go neutral. Like Susan I didn't really use my own handwritting. So everything was either done on the PC, cut out, or made from die cuts. This second picture totally dates my daughter's scrapbook to 2003. Remember making Shakers? Oh my gosh I have at least 4 in her first year album. LOL I made this one myself for her First Tooth layout. They were loads of fun to make. Oh and vellum. remember vellum?! So there ya go. The first page is 9 years old and the other is 8 years old! Wow...I've been scrapping for 9 years. Over the years my style has of course changed. I know what I like and I stick with it. I also use my own handwritting for journaling now and I make sure I journal at least a little on every page. Even if just a sentence about who, what, when, where. I didn't always journal in the beginning. It was mostly cram pictures onto the page and use sticker sneeze. LOL Can't wait to see others pages!!!!

...Beads and glitter everywhere! In my book, glitter is a bad word! While it looks absolutely lovely WHEN IT STAYS WHERE IT BELONGS, it also likes to travel! I have a gazillion bottle of Stickles...the glue suspension helps, but after scratching my cornea with glitter, I bought a cheap pair of goggles to wear any time I'm using it! The first time that I wore them, DH took a look and said he didn't know that water sports were a part of scrapbooking!

Ok here is mine. For me it was stickers!!! I loved them. I have had an infatuation with stickers since the 80's!!! This was done roughly around 1997 or 1998??? I did not date my pages. I was mostly a self taught scrapbooker. I did go to one Creative Memories class though. The paper and stickers are by Susan Branch. This lesson has taught me to always date my pages!!! Cindy

I love the pages! It's fun to go back and see how my style has changed. Esp when DD was born. The first page I did for her was totally pink--no other color. I just laugh at that one now! I'll do two pages since I want to be fair to the kids. They were probably done about 1998 for DS and 2000 for DD. The photos aren't that great--I was making dinner and was trying to get things done fast while the light was fading. Note the use of stationary on DS's page. And all that journaling! And poor DD--her page is prettier, but no journaling. Well, at least I have photos of child #2. I did a lot of hand drawn titles around then--it does look better than DS's title! And the Mary Englebreit flowers--very, very cutesy! But really, I look back at these pages and I'm just happy that I have them. And I love all the journaling with DS's page. I really get the story.

LOVE them ladies!!! OH MY GOSH - this is soooo fun!!! Stickers - oh goodness, I used them all the time!! Remember the Mrs. Grossmans stickers - YEP - I had TONS OF THEM! Literally I bought them from eBay because I could not get enough of them!! Great pages!!!! Michelle love your journaling - even if it's not even between son and daughter - it's a progression of your style!! HOORAy for both of you - look at how times have changed, supplies have changed, and our families have changed! We have proof in our pages that we were there when it happened!!! THANKS for sharing!!! Who's next?

This is a scraplift. I saw where a lady had written about the daily medication she was on and knew I had to make a page about finding a medication that I believe saved my life. There is a long letter enclosed in the folder that talks about my struggle with doctors and them keeping me sick for 6 years until I found a different thyroid medication that made me better. I knew it was important to document what I was on in case it can help someone in the future. Vicki

as a diabetic Vicki, I'm supposed to see "endocrinologists" too. I HATE them all! I spent an entire visit with one recently who 30 minutes into the appointment said "oh - you're an insulin dependent diabetic - I don't see your type!" REALLY? REALLY! I hate most endos - because they don't know SQUAT! I'm probably on the "watch list" of a few offices around here!! HAHAHAHA!! Luckily I have the best GP ever - and he lets me glom onto his services for my diabetic needs! DOCS {Gail excluded} usually drive me batty!!! I personally think people should only be allowed to specialize if they are effected!! Show me a diabetic endocrinologist and I'll give him a big HUG!!! hang in there chica - part of medicine is having the where-withall to know what's going on with your body, your physician and your medications! I'm my biggest and best advocate!!!! YOU ROCK!!

And Vicki, what a great page! I could get on a rant about doctors as well (sorry Gail!) I'm diabetic, too and I had one doctor tell me that my A1C (measures the glucose in your blood over several weeks) was too low. It was 5.2 and the ADA wants it under 7. So she decided that meant it was supposed to be close to 7. Yep, I lied right there on the spot, told her that I wanted to see an endo, that I couldn't control my blood sugars, that they were always too low. I saw an endo at Walter Reed and she was GREAT! Told me I was doing great, exactly what I should be doing, keep it up. So not all the endos are bad! But about 50% of this endo's patients were diabetic, so she really specialized. Maybe that helped?

For thyroid issues, 99% of endos are idiots. Anyway, I am loving looking at all these pages! Vicki

The pages are great. I love the stickers. I have a huge stash, from back in the day, and I never even scrapbooked. Just love stickers!
And I could go on about a certain neurologist my son saw this winter/spring, but I think maybe you get the drift...

I am trying to remember how to post pics so bear with me for this... I am not sure of the age of this other than it is pre 2004 (when the second child came along!) I usually avoided patterned paper because I did not want the page to be too busy! And there certainly wasn't the choice of colored paper....

Here is another one... I used actual cookie cutters (before QK came out with them! LOL) to cut out my picture shape and then traced around it with a metal disc (I think it was called Magic Matter) to make the mats. I would occasionally cut around a picture--- it makes me laugh now to see it! ;D I also liked using stickers!!! I always felt like there was room for just one more...

And lastly... These three are from my first DD's baby book. I was intimidated by the amount of space to fill up on a 12x12 page so I started with 8.5x11. About halfway through I wish I had gone with the 12x12 instead! (But I have this rule about no re-dos on my pages! So I finished the first year in this size.) The Coluzzle was one of my favorite tools (still use it from time to time) and I liked simple paper piecing to make animals, etc. I usually journaled in my own handwriting because I wasn't very good with the computer back then! Shocker, I know! I am pleased that I always put the who and the when on the pages. I do plan on recording the scrap date on the back of the pages from now on because of this little challenge. Thanks for that idea, Susan!

Okay I managed to find a few, though not what I was looking for exactly! Still old though! That's one of the Grand Reopening of my store in 2002. Vellum Mrs. Grossman's stickers everywhere! These others are from an album I did of my new puppy who stayed in the shop with me during the day. Notice I took her pawprints... lol. I named her Peige after my shop, One Page at a Time. I handcut those title page letters after printing them in reverse with a CK font, but I remember just getting in Quickutz for the first time the day before Grand Reopening! They had sent a ton of samples for me to give away. Fun idea! I'm loving everyone's older stuff!!

I think it is funny that I have/had some of the same paper that Michelle and Vicki used. (the blue dots and the orange with flowers) I cannot find the album but my very first scrapbook page was made with fabric embellishments!! I am still trying to find it so I can show you but I think it is buried somewhere in the shed. In 1997 or so (so bad with dates!!) while I worked at a local fabric store (Beverlys) we started carrying scrapbook supplies. (We called it Memory Making back then.) I had to make a page to share at a managers meeting and I did not know anything about the craft. We only had a few supplies- some solid paper, albums, and maybe a few stickers and markers. I ran to what I was trained in-- Fabric! I cut the designs out of fabric and glued it to the page with a few photos of my baby boy. I thought I was very resourceful. I do not know if the big wigs appreciated it or not but what can you do. Acid and Lignin were all to worry about back then. And those "sticky" albums that we all put pictures into, remember those?? I came home after the meeting and pulled all my pictures out because they could ruin them. Wow this craft has come a long way hasn't it?? It has taken over everything I do (in a good way)!! I hope I still have that album!!! Cindy

It's funny you mention that, Cindy! I've seen several familiar products on the other pages here, too! I think that's because a decade or more ago, the scope of modern scrapbooking just wasn't as large. There were so few companies that really specialized in it and every store that carried supplies probably carried the same brands/selection!
It's crazy that you mention your first page ever having fabric embellishments because you didn't have much to work with, and yet look how ga-ga everyone is over adding fabric to scrapbooks/cards today!!
I remember first getting into the hobby and finding out about the magnetic albums being the devil for pictures. I told everyone I knew that their pictures were going to disintegrate!

oh ladies these are so fun to look at!!! I think the biggest changes have been in patterned paper and cardstock! All of my first patterned paper came from Michaels/Hobby Lobby and it was all 8x11 even though my album from Creative Memories was 12x12. Well...11.5x12 - no sheet protectors and nothing but stickers and big solid shaped die-cuts! I remember when I discovered that my mother had a die-cutting machine {AccuCut} at her elementary school that all of the teachers used for bulletin board making - LIGHT BULB!! They had letters! Oh my gosh - I would spend afternoons in the summer cutting 1 3" letter at a time in bright rainbow letters and polka dotty papers from Michaels! LOVED IT - I literally thought I was a genius!!! hahaha - the papers!! gotta love 'em! And look at all of the corner rounding!!! That was THE thing - did anyone have that monster huge desktop corner rounder! I think it was close to $75 - it was GIANT but I could round an entire stack of pictures at a time! LOVED IT!! oh the memories!!! great pages everyone - thanks so much for sharing!!!

There wasn't much selection back then. It sure made things cheaper! Although I did CM back then, too. And that wasn't cheap. I'm sure the heart on DS's page was a CM die cut.
And punches! I had a ton of small punches. I know the flowers on DD's page were made with a circle punch.
And Susan, I would volunteer at the kids' schools just to use the die cut machine. I loved that thing.
