I did a scrapbook Friday/Sat as a gift for my son's best friend (she turned 13) and everyone loved it. I found it very simplistic (just cardstock with matting and titles) but they all loved it.
Have you ever done a scrapbook as a gift? if so, was it received well? Truly appreciated?

I did one for my ds and dil, just a small one using clear acrylic and was only about 6 pages long but my dil cried..she adored it. I also did another small one for a friend for her sister who was expecting a baby, I guess it also brought her to tears ...on seond thought maybe I shouldn't make albums for others if I keep making people cry

My best friend does these all the time. She has done baby albums , wedding albums , birthday and she did a Superbowl one for her brother; she is going to make two family cookbooks with pages to add more for Christmas presents. I suggested she try out for the design team but she said that she doesn't use pictures she only makes the pages and puts in the mats for pic's ,she makes calenders for where she works (Dr office)

I have done more for others than I have for me! Part of my store included doing albums for people who didn't have the interest to do so themselves. But ever since Sawyer was born, the grandparents have received several mini albums and I do a vacation album for my parents every year after our trip to NC. I also did one as a going-away gift once. Usually they are pretty simple, mostly because I want to get them done and given to the person. Everyone loves them-it's hard not to! Other people don't look at them as critically as you will. They just know you spent a lot of time and care to make it and it is a very special, unique gift. Crying is a good reaction!! The photos invoke those feelings and memories!!

I've made lots of gift albums. Love them! It's always gratifying when others love your work.

I make a mini album and a quilt for almost every baby born to friends or family. I have made them for brides. I have made them for several teachers. Almost all of my brothers and sisters and parents. They are all well received. But the most important thing is that I had sooo much fun making them Cindy

You hit the nail on the head, Cindy-we love making these gifts!! It's a win-win for everyone. We get to play and create and craft and the recipient gets to enjoy a special, one of a kind item.

My first scrapbook gift was a baby album for a couple who are friends of ours. She's a physician who works in my husband's group, and he's a Navy SEAL. She was their first child, and I filled an album with pages I made, putting down mats for the pictures to come, and including plenty of journaling blocks. They sent me a lovely thank you card. The biggest surprise came at the office Christmas Party later that year, when HE rushed over to me as I walked in, gave me a big hug, and with tears in his eyes told me how wonderful the scrapbook was and how much it meant to him. I was speechless! Our gifts often mean much more to those who receive them than we realize! Gail

my 11 year old 2 years ago saw a package of about 400 football pictures in the mail. he was so angry with me. he said "I never get an album, so you cannot have these pictures and you cannot take more pictures of me". little did he know, those pics were for him and his brother's Christmas present. I had made football albums for them. They loved it. He looked at it about 10 times that day then hid the album under his bed so no one would take it from him he still looks at it 2 years later.

Awwwww... that's so sweet! My kids love their books--when they were little, we used to read them just like storybooks.
