hahahaha - the MASS REORGANIZATION of my nesting dies, that is! OH my goodness - nesting shapes all over the place. Yesterday I about drove myself crazy because I kept spilling sets of them! SOOOOOOO...it starts today. Ran over and bought a huge stack of magnetic vent covers, grabbed a stack of chipboard, and digging to find 8.5 x 11 sheet protectors. I think I have a system figured out - so stay tuned! hahahaha - anyone want to come help? what I'm discovering is I have lots and lots of duplicates. Should I do a grab bag prize for "gently-susan-used-nesting-shapes" ?? pictures to follow...but I did find an awesome 2" lime green binder in my school supply stash - HUZZAH!! what are you all working on today???

Good luck with the re-org. Yesterday, I rearranged my office area. I think I have more room for crafting supplies now! Woo-hoo! Today, I am trying to keep my bored teen-aged boys from annoying each other (and me) too much! Perhaps, they need a project (as in cleaning)!

I am waiting for my order from Oriental trading to come with my adhesive magnetic sheets then I too will be organizing my cookie cutter/nesting dies
I will continue to put them into the transparent file folders I have been using (staples #576460) but instead of using a file box (it was getting to full) I will be using a drawer in a file cabinet that sits right next to my scrap desk
Until then I am trying to put away the borders - 2x2's and 4x4's that have been piling up on my desk

It's a storage/re-organization day for many of us! I just finished organizing my dies from the Tropical Splash release and Dani's big Spellbinders sale. Feels good to have that stack of plastic off my desk! Now I think I'll stamp a card or two! Susan, you definitely should use your duplicate dies as prizes! And please share your new system with us once you're finished! Have a great weekend, girls! Gail

Dies for all my friends! We don't mind your cast offs! I just spent about 2 hours dismantling my studio. All my inspiration stuff, random projects, flotsom and jetsom, chatzkys are all put away. And I took all my dies down from my magnetic wall on the back of my sewing cabinet. I didn't want any falling off during the move! Now it's ust a boring room. I'm trying to psych myself up and tell myself that the new house is beautiful, the kitchen is gorgeous, that I will love the fire place in the family room... But I just don't want to deal with the physical process of the move. Ugh. I need more caffiene and I need to GET BACK TO WORK!

OKAY - nesting shapes are organized, labeled and DONE! Twenty four pages, tons of magnetic sheets, one bulging lime green notebook...and it's done! Spellbinders now comfortably reside all by themselves in magnetic binders...need to get them labeled with their appropriate name. Now that Dani is going to carry Just Rite stamps I think I need to know which frame and which label is which. Right?!?! Anyway - ohmygosh - I've discovered a few treasures along the way - found some missing dies that I thought were long gone, and figured out that I probably need an insurance rider on these supplies!! WHEW - the problem is I made a HUGE mess out of my room while I was doing this. I feel so accomplished - until I stood up! YIKES - it's a disaster area in here!! Sounds like everyone is making great process though - we should have all posted before-and-after pictures! LOL!!

I'm working on two layouts! I put together Matthew's 2010 Halloween page...just trying to come up with a catchy non typical Halloween title for the page.
And then I am starting a layout about his most recent hospital stay ID band. The last number after the patient file number shows how many times the person has been at Children's. Matthew, of course, has a high number so I am going to journal about it all.
I reorganized at the beginning of the month! Also redecorated my scrap area as well. ;D

way to go Lorie Ann - sounds like you've gotten a lot done today!! Just finished redoing some font storage - CC fonts. UGH - I had a bunch of letters that were out, discovered days after a project was done or slid under a keyboard, etc. Got those all filed away, made up new pencil boxes {$.25 last week at Staples - WOOT WOOT!} for latest CC fonts and NOW they look so purdy! Still a disaster area around here...but I can see the floor, the window seat and one empty shelf!! PROGRESS - my boys should leave more often huh?!?!?!?

About a week ago, I went through some dies (NOT QK/LC, Spellbinders, or ScrapyLand), and tossed most of them in a plastic bag, which I then gave to a teacher-friend.
What a great feeling! Now I have to get back in the mood, and use the newly-acquired storage space for all of the dies that are waiting to be put away.
Cookie Cutter alphas are no problem...they go in the pencil boxes that Susan mentioned!

Don't really have a before picture (well I guess it's all the papers and dies I used before things were cut! lol) but here is one of my end products from today's scrap session: I used a lot of Quickutz dies on this layout. Incase you can't read the journaling, this page is about how many ER and Hospital stays Matthew has had: 83. I talk about what he's had done while at Children's and that I hope we don't hit 100 to figure out all the answers to his many unknowns. And I am still trying to come up with a catchy non traditional Halloween title for Matthew's Halloween 2010 layout. I may just go with "To Infinity And Beyond" as he was Buzz Lightyear. I dono... Ok, now time to snack on candy, popcorn, and watch a movie with my hubby. G'nite all!

I have been struggling with getting organized. I keep bringing in more stuff before the old is stored away and all the QK CCs have taken on a life of their own! But I have just begun to fight the battle --- I have filled up a plastic file tote of the magnetic sheets from Oriental Trader and clear plastic folders from Staples. I lightly tape the package insert to the back of the mat board just in case I need the reference or need to know what is missing! (I found out that mat board from Hobby Lobby is relatively inexpensive and more sturdy than the chipboard I could get. I just get a 32x40 sheet and cut it into nine 8.5"x11' sheets. It also comes in a lot of colors if you want to color code your system. And the mat board is often on sale for 50% off! ) I also need to label the pencil slider boxes for my large fonts --- leaving my small fonts in the mag binders and labeling with vinyl cut outs of the font name on the outside. (Thanks to SUSAN for both these ideas!) I am afraid of losing one of the small letters in a pencil box and I have all those binders I cleared out! And on another thread on this MB Cindy posted a clever alternative for storing 4x8 fonts which I will be adding to my system. (It will be more compact and more user-friendly!) I love this MB! I am so happy with the progress I have made. I just keep getting interrupted by work and taking kids to the beach, VBS, camp, water parks, cleaning, folding, etc. I am taking pics every couple of days to show myself the progress and stay motivated. BTW---Susan, I would love to help you with your duplicates--- I don't mind buying some more mag sheets and clear folders! And Lori--- nice page! I like the way you outlined inside your road sign --- I like these simple extra touches. And I love your journaling --- to me scrapbooking is about the pictures AND the story behind them! Great Job!

wow MB - you're making great progress!!!! I just posted my weekend project on the QK threads.. Lorie Ann GREAT page - it's all about the story and what it means to you and to your children! GOOD STUFF! And as far as your Halloween title goes - have you ever just started working on the page, and left room for a title...do the photos and the die-cuts and the extras...and left the title undone. When the page is done look and see what space you have...and what fonts would look good...and then do the title! Sometimes it just needs to be simple and short and big - othertimes it needs to be long and small and complex. Sometimes working backwards makes it easier for me!
