okay ladies - better late than never! Here is one part of my big weekend reorganization project... NESTING SHAPES... 3" lime green binder {lime green is not required, but it's awesome! LOL} 3-ring D-ring - I bought the heavy duty type from Staples. And the heavy duty sheet protectors, I think they are Avery. I also bought 3 packs of magnetic vent covers from Home Depot. The sheets are 8"x15" so I cut each sheet into 8x2.5" which gave me 6 strips...that makes 3 pages. Each page is chipboard that I've collected from patterned paper packs - it's not super heavy duty, but thicker than a cereal box. Probably as thick as the back of a yellow legal pad. Each sheet of chipboard got 2 strips of magnets, I just stuck it down with my ATG gun. The results... but then I stumbled upon this and I LOVE IT! I used little file tab folder labels and labeled the TOPS instead of the page edges. The label goes on the CHIPBOARD...and this not only labels the page but also helps me slide out the sheet... each page protector has front-and-back, two sheets of chipboard {OH - almost forgot, chipboard was cut to just a smidge bigger than 8.25 x10.75 so there was wiggle room and room for two sheets} this whole system I think I'm really going to like... Then I started in on my Cookie Cutter fonts...and got them all updated and organized and refiled... LOVE being freshly organized and ready to scrap!!! All totaled I spent $8 on my lime green binder...$13 on magnet sheets and all of the sheet protectors I already had. I thought it was a bargain and I love how it's been working for 2 days. I'm half done with the Spellbinders album now. Who else organized this weekend???

I love the tabs on the top! What a great idea.
The packers are here and my studio is all packed or I would share pictures of my system. I've got a hybrid system of all the ideas everyone has shared over the past few months. It really works for me and I can find what I want quickly and easily.

Susan, love the binder! It all looks great. My CC fonts are all in their new pencil box homes and I am very happy with it.
I am going to have to do something with my nesting dies. Right now they are on magnetic sheets on my closet wall in my studio and storage area. I love being able to walk up to the wall and pick out the right die. But soon the nesting dies will have to come down to make room for other CC dies. You can only cover up so much wall space with magnetic sheets and dies!
I was able to pick up another hanging jewelry holder to store Glimmer mist, glam and glaze at Michaels today. Reg $16.00 for $10.00. It came in pink and black.
I do love organizing my scrap goodies as much as I love using them!

Well Karen, you're ahead of me..... I have a TON of those magnetic folders...so many that they're hard to manage. I end up looking through 15 folders before finding what I need, even with labels on the outside of them! The new nesting shapes are still in plastic bags in their shipping box, overwhelming me with storage possibilities!! As for the alphabets, (sigh...) I do like how the magnetic binders work. Though I'm lovin the pencil holder idea.....more compact, lightweight , colorful AND easy to grab (with how Susan has it set up....thanks for pics, by the way!) Has anyone seen the new storage pockets on the LC website blog?? lifestylecrafts.com/blog/ They fit in their 3-ring binder or all-in-one binders, but would probably still need some label/magnetic sheet in them so you can clearly see what you've got. I guess I'm just trying to figure out how I can better utilize what I've already got! Organization....a never ending challenge!!! Pam

Karen - your magnetic "wall space" - oh dear I'm still using mine! I'll take a picture of it today and share... what was driving me bonkers was I had some nesting shapes {originals, and basic shapes} in magnetic QK binders. Then I had some more {unique, and seasonal} ones on the wall in my magnetic cupboard. Then I had Spellbinders in some binders, but some of my recent ones are larger so they were on the cupboard door too. It was driving me crazy, and I found myself using nesting shapes less and less because I knew I'd have to spend 10 minutes looking for the shape I wanted. And if I didn't know what shape I wanted...it was impossible to look at the shapes for inspiration because they were scattered all over the place. NOW - as of right now - every single QK nesting shape is in one place. NOW - as of right now - every single Spellbinder nestibilities is in one place. NOW - as of right now - all 3D shapes, boxes or bags are in one place. I had such a good day yesterday - I knew where to reach for any shape, I knew where to put it back, and it made me smile! Pam I saw those zipper bags on the QK blog yesterday, if I had some I might have been willing to try it out for the "collection" dies I have. LIke the RECIPE, or the SNOWMAN, or the ROAD SIGNS, etc. Those would be great in there I think...small pieces that all go together. But I selfishly admit that I like the nesting shapes all on a magnetic strip so they stay put - I hold my paper up to the shapes all of the time to "size" my selection, and having the set all laid together makes it easier for me. I'm all for "try what you've got"...right now I have 8 empty QK magnetic folders so when my first Spellbinders CHA release gets here...guess where my new Edgeabilities are going?!?!?! LOL - I hope they fit... I'll snap a picture of my magnetic door - I LOVE that I could repurpose all of that magnetic space to hold boxes...I've already cut 3 boxes and about 6 take-out boxes this week...I forgot I had them! Discovered them and got all excited! Having stuff organized makes it unforgettable! LOVE IT!!

okay - here is another picture to follow up on my comment above. Now inside my big cupboard door all of my magnetic sheets will house boxes, bags, 3D shapes and I love it! I left the flash on so you can hopefully see the reflections of the magnetic sheets {I used the vent covers 8" x 15"} - I put up 6 sheets - four of them horizontally and two of them vertically. spaced fairly evenly apart and it works GREAT! this is a huge cupboard door {30" x 48"} but now it's full. Luckily I have the matching left hand door and two shorter ones underneath. LOL! Another organization project I worked on last night was NEW COPIC sheets! There is a new Copic sheet {found by clicking here www.copicmarker.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Blank_Hand-Color_Chart_2011.pdf} it has the new colors added back in February. I hadn't updated mine, and hadn't added my refill colors. So I printed the sheet out on Neenah{had to print at 85% to fit}... I just do one swipe of the brush tip across each box, so I can still read the numbers and I am not coloring over the ink to darken it. Just one swipe... then for any refill bottles I have... I draw a black line across the box. Refills all accounted for! What a productive week this has been!!

Susan, it does make me smile as well when I can easily get to one of my dies, hold up my paper and decide. Then the die is used and is put back in its place on the magntic wall(s). I promise to post a picture over the weekend.
I was working on a card with a friend and needed a 2" scallop punch, I don't have one, no problem, over to my Spellbinder section with my ruler and picked a die off the wall.
Thanks for the new Copic chart link. I do need to update mine, I have been writing on the old one. Great idea for tracking you refill bottles. How have you stored them?

Wow! What a collection, Susan! I have some magnet sheets on the sides of my Jet Max cubes that I use like this, but I'm running out of room. Think I need to move to inside closet doors, too. Back to home depot for more magnet sheets!! Gail

I really really really superduper like the labeled pencil boxes for the alphas. Very fun and bright and colorful and definitely something I could even manage to keep organized!

I just asked hubby to go buy a gazillion packages of the magnetic vent covers. I have decided that I can't not have them for my cookie cutters!

For those of you who have your dies in magpies and the magnetic folder you can do what I do...
Everytime I aquire a new die I find the picture of it on Google and save it into 'My Pictures' in a folder called QuicKutz Dies.
I label the dies like this:
2x2 Acron RS-0072 Rev Butterfly 0139-S Alpha CC Central Park Alpha 2x2 Studio CC Balloons Nesting Circles Exclusive Owl C-0068-S Club Die Party Hat QC-0009-D
That way all the 2x2 shapes are together, all the Revolution shapes are together, Nesting, CC dies, Alphas, Club Dies, etc.
That way I can scroll through all my dies on my computer and get inspired. Then when I know which ones I want to use I go to the mag pie or magnetic folder.
I have my magpie tines labeled on the front in different colors. Then that tin is listed on an index card in order in that color.
As for the magnetic folders I have a stack for shapes and a stack for alphas with the card that came with the die on the outside front and back. So it doesnt take me too long to find it.
I so really like the folder idea and will use that once my collection becomes too much for magpies and magnetic folders. I only have so much space in my upstairs office cubby =)

Susan - are the CC fonts on magnetic strips or are they just loose in the pencil boxes?

Great ideas, guys!
I label the backs of my 2x2, 4X4 and 4x8 dies. I find the photo on Lifestyle Crafts or another site if it's an older die. I put it into a file in Word that is a chart and then when the sheet is full, I print it off on a full size label sheet. They are clear and work great. I then cut them down to the right size and adhere it to the die. It works like a shim and I love to be able to flip through my books and see instantly what dies are there. I have them sorted by theme and it seems to work well.
When I get that room unpacked, I'll take some pictures. I think Cindy uses this system, too. I know I got the idea from someone here!

How much are the magnetic sheets at Home Depot? I've been using sheets of magnet I got at Michaels--they are 12" x 24" am I'm making 2- 12 x 12 storage pages from each sheet by cutting priority mail boxes down and I have a wooden box that was brand new and a friend was THROWING OUT! and I can fit a LOT in there. I think I have 6 pages so far?? It does get expensive--the magnet sheets are $9.99 but I've always used a 40% off coupon, but still...but I didn't want a million magnetic folders to look through. I can easily fit probably another 8-10 pages in this box and each page holds a lot of dies. I'll try to post a pic later.
I LOVE the magnetic door!!

I dragged my husband to Staples today while our son's away at Gramma's for the night and bought a whole mess of those pencil boxes. I don't have a label maker but I DO have paint pens so I will be able to write the font names with those. Yay for organization!

I bought about a gazillion (planning for the future, you know!) of the pencil boxes last year when Susan first showed them to us. I use a Sharpie pen to write the font name on the end of the box. I have a notebook with pictures of the fonts, so it isn't too bad a search to find which one I'm looking for.

I found my magnetic vent covers at Home Depot - three sheets are $4.45 here in Arizona. Each sheet is 15" x 8" - and I cut them down to 2.5" x 8 so I get six strips from one sheet. 18 strips. I put two strips on each hunk of chipboard that is 11x8 so I get 9 full sheets of storage for $4.45. I love the steal that this turns out to be!!
