My daddy's driving me to Raleigh today to go shopping at Archivers! Yay! It made me wonder, though...
What would you buy at Archivers if you could only buy one thing (or one type of thing i.e. stamps, dies, paper, stickers, etc.)?
I have only been one time before (last year's vacation) so I will answer when I come back, haha!

I always freak out when I walk into Archivers. MSRP scares the living daylights out of me. A couple of summers ago QK was doing the "Summer of Fun" releases - remember those. And the 12" border that was also a font String Bean...remember. Well QK was supposed to send it to me, UPS lost my package, Dani hadn't received his order yet...and I really wanted one to do a LIVE show with. So I went in and bought it at Archivers - YIKES! I nearly choked to death paying full retail! HAHA - and I flat out refuse to pay $.97 a sheet for patterned papers. So my advice - hahahah - hit the clearance aisle!!! LOL - have fun exploring the store, and have a fun day with your daddy!

Definitely stroll the sales or specials aisle, and put on blinders for the rest of it! Their stores have lots of eye'catchers to make a person want to spend their life savings!
Happy shopping!

Haha very true, the prices are scary! There are so many better deals to be had. I love taking pictures of their examples though for later scraplifting! Once in a while I can find one of their exclusive dies on clearance so I like that. Usually though, I can always find what they have in another, cheaper place, like Scrapy Land or sometimes eBay. Without a store nearby anymore, it is nice to go into one from time to time and ooh and ahh over new things! We'll see if I can find a good steal

I've been to the Raleigh Archivers, and its a bit overwhelming, to be sure! Makes me realize how spoiled I am by Dani's prices!!
But it's nice to see things in person, so I tend to check out stuff that's new, and make a mental list of what I want to buy from Scrapyland. The exception for me is the storage aisle, since they carry a lot of stuff I don't see elsewhere, and the Clearance section - got their Alligator exclusive QK font a few months ago as a real steal. If you need embellies, the dollar bins are fun, too.
Also, go online and get their coupons: usually %30 off one item. That way, if you can't resist, at least you can get a break on the price!! ;D Gail

I love going to the Raleigh Archivers! The staff there are great. Friendly and helpful. I've taken many classes there, typically once a month.
Gail and I shopped there earlier this year and we were dangerous together, lots of enabling going on!
Have fun, you will gather tons of ideas I'm sure

Oh, yes! Karen and I were a dangerous duo at Archivers!! I wish I had counted how many times Karen said, "Gail, that would be perfect for you!" I started to think she was getting a commission! ;D Seriously great fun, and can't wait to do it again, Karen!! Gail

I should have brought you both along with me, then! I enjoyed wandering aimlessly throughout the store this afternoon. Daddy took Sawyer for ice cream and Momma went to the Yankee Candle shop and the tea store and I was left to my own devices and some money my Granddaddy slipped me. I got to put my hands on a smashbook-can't wait for mine to arrive because they are better than I was expecting! I picked up just a few goodies, mostly some North Carolina specific ones like usual. Then we met up with my sister and her husband for early dinner at a place I hadn't been before-THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY! Holy Moses.
I didn't find any dies for cheap that I couldn't walk away from this time, but that's okay because there are plenty to buy here! I did pick up a couple colors of that baker's twine everyone's been using because I've been noticing it on everything!
All in all, it was very nice but nothing amazing in the store or very unique this trip. I kept some money in the bank this year, lol

Wandering aimlessly is "GOOD" in scrapbooking/hobby stores. I love to look and get ideas. The only problem is when I visit these places I tend to then visit ScrapyLand's site and act on those ideas and spend more than I should. Great for Dani,Great for me cause I was able to get so much more for my money; but oh so Bad for my CC. What can I say, hands on gets me into trouble sometimes. Cat

I have never been and don't even live close to one. I have always wanted to go but I don't even have any idea what I would buy..I can imagine it's like being a kid in the candy store..don't know which thing to buy first.

I also have not seen an Archivers and probably never will unless they come to California.
I do love hands on but all LSS have closed in my area. The thing I miss the most is paper. I can't find the patterend paper I like at M, J or HL. I am sooo glad Dani carries the good stuff.

Went to A's in Downers Grove, IL today. Found wintergreen spines that my best friend has been looking for for months. They still had all the different spines pages and folders from that release. I travel all the time so I look for A's when I know I'm in a state that has them. I don't buy alot just look for things I can't find at SL and special requests from friends. And a few pieces of paper for special things

The nearest 2 Archiver's are both just under 3 hours from me...but I've been to both. My mother-in-law lives about a mile from one of them, my brother about 15 miles from the other. It IS like being a kid in a candy store! I usually go on my own and spend about an hour just wandering aimlessly!! Sometimes more.....
BUT, I do live 3 miles from the other great scrap/craft store in Michigan, Arnie's Arts n' Crafts. I'm lucky to have it right in the little rural town I live in. I've even had a nightmare about moving away from it!
Hope you enjoyed your time @ Archiver's, Nikki!

I love Archiver's! I work near a store. I find lots of finds there, especially when you have a 30% off coupon and a free cardstock coupon. A lot of scrapbook stores in our area have closed. We have the Jo's and M's but its nice to go into a store that specializes in scrapbooking and card making. Have fun on your trip to Archiver's!

So many LSSs have closed! Though the nearest A's is 3 hours away in Raleigh, NC, I'm lucky that my LSS, Beach Scrapbooks, is still going strong! Gail

I'm with Gail and Susan--As prices scare me! But I love to go there and check everything out and see what trends are going on and what we need to convince Dani to order!
